The Effectiveness of Green Advertising: Influences of Claim Specificity, Product’s Environmental Relevance and Consumers’ Pro-environmental Orientation

    Get PDF
This study investigates the influences of claim specificity, the product’s environmental relevance, and the respondents’ proenvironmental orientation on the effectiveness of green advertising among Turkish consumers. An experimental study is conducted using hypothetical print advertisements for two product categories (laundry machines as a high relevance product; DVD player as a low relevance product). Findings indicate that the specificity of the green claim does not exert a significant effect on consumer evaluations towards high relevance product advertisement, while specific green claims significantly improve the communication effectiveness of the low environmental relevance product advertisement. The theoretical and managerial implications of these findings are discussed.advertisement effectiveness, claim specificity, experimental design, green advertising, product environmental relevance

The objective of this study is to give information about estate accounting in the Ottoman Empire and present a sample from the 17th century. Optimal capacity for sustainable refrigerated storage buildings

Widespread construction of cold storage buildings is important to ensure sustainability of the agricultural industry and reduce food loss. However, the number of cold storage buildings in most developing countries is insufficient because of financial difficulties. Currently, the most critical factor for encouraging investors to finance such projects is the payback period. In this study, the power consumption and profitability of cold storage buildings were investigated based on their capacities using data from selected cold stores in Turkey. The optimal storage capacity was calculated by simulation, and the relationship between the payback period and the capacity of cold stores was analysed using the obtained results. It was found that the amount of power consumed per unit volume for stores with capacities from 100 to 2100 t of apples was 63.8% while that from 2100 to 10000 t was 33.3%. Additionally, the optimal cold storage capacity was determined to be 3500 t with a two-year payback period. © 2020 The Author(s)

Subclavian Vein Thrombosis Extending into the Internal Jugular Vein: Paget-von Schroetter Syndrome

Paget-von Schroetter syndrome refers to spontaneous thrombosis of the subclavian vein and constitutes 0.5-1% of all venous thromboses. It is prevalent among young and healthy adult males who engage in sports. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential to avoid long-term sequelae. Herein, we report a 42-year-old male weightlifter who presented with swelling of the left arm, pain and a feeling of tightness in the anterior chest wall. At Doppler US and MR angiography, subclavian vein thrombosis extending into the internal jugular vein was detected. Thrombolytic treatment ensured continuous venous flow and the patient’s complaints decreased

The routine use of pediatric airway exchange catheter after extubation of adult patients who have undergone maxillofacial or major neck surgery: a clinical observational study

    Get PDF
INTRODUCTION: We conducted the present study to determine the usefulness of routinely inserting a pediatric airway exchange catheter (PAEC) before tracheal extubation of adult patients who had undergone maxillofacial or major neck surgery and have risk factors for difficult reintubation. METHODS: A prospective, observational and clinical study was performed in the 25-bed general intensive care unit of a university hospital. Thirty-six adult patients who underwent maxillofacial or major neck surgery and had risk factors for difficult reintubation were extubated after insertion of the PAEC. RESULTS: Four of 36 (11.1%) patients required emergency reintubation after 2, 4, 6 and 18 hours after tracheal extubation, respectively. Reintubation of these patients, which was thought to be nearly impossible by direct laryngoscopy, was easily achieved over the PAEC. CONCLUSION: The PAEC can be a life-saving device during reintubation of patients with risk factors for difficult reintubation such as laryngeo-pharyngeal oedema due to surgical manipulation or airway obstruction resulting from haematoma and anatomic changes. We therefore suggest the routine use of the PAEC in patients undergoing major maxillofacial or major neck surgery
