    Biquadratic Filter Applications Using a Fully-Differential Active-Only Integrator

    A new class of active filters, real active-only filters is described and possible implementation issues of these filters are discussed. To remedy these issues, a fully-differential active-only integrator block built around current controlled current conveyors is presented. The integration frequency of the proposed circuit is adjustable over a wide frequency range. As an application, a real active-only filter based on the classical two-integrator loop topology is presented and designed. The feasibility of this filter in a 0.35µm CMOS process is verified through SPECTRE simulation program in the CADENCE design tool

    Modelling the components of binaries in Hyades: The dependence of the mixing-length parameter on stellar mass

    We present our findings based on a detailed analysis for the binaries of the Hyades, in which the masses of the components are well known. We fit the models of components of a binary system to the observations so as to give the observed total V and B-V of that system and the observed slope of the main-sequence in the corresponding parts. According to our findings, there is a very definite relationship between the mixing-length parameter and the stellar mass. The fitting formula for this relationship can be given as alpha=9.19(M/Msun0.74)0.0536.65alpha = 9.19 (M/M_sun-0.74)^{0.053}-6.65, which is valid for stellar masses greater than 0.77 M_sun. While no strict information is gathered for the chemical composition of the cluster, as a result of degeneracy in the colour-magnitude diagram, by adopting Z=0.033 and using models for the components of 70 Tau and theta^2 Tau we find the hydrogen abundance to be X=0.676 and the age to be 670 Myr. If we assume that Z=0.024, then X=0.718 and the age is 720 Myr. Our findings concerning the mixing length parameter are valid for both sets of the solution. For both components of the active binary system V818 Tau, the differences between radii of the models with Z=0.024 and the observed radii are only about 4 percent. More generally, the effective temperatures of the models of low mass stars in the binary systems studied are in good agreement with those determined by spectroscopic methods.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA

    In this study, the mushroom yield, chemical composition and nutritional value of Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.) P. Kumm. cultivated in wheat stalk (WS), millet stalk (MS), soybean stalk (SS) and cotton stalk (CS) were determined. Fresh mushroom yield amounts (100 g of substrate, 70% moisture) obtained from WS, CS, MS and SS substrate media were 17.9, 14.3, 22.7 and 31.5 g, respectively.     Yield performances and nutritional contents of three oyster mushroom species cultivated on wheat stalk

    This study was conducted to determine nutritive value and yield performance of the three types of oyster mushroom; Pleurotus eryngii (Dc. Ex Fr.) quel), Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.: Fr.) Kumm.) andPleurotus sajor-caju (Fr.) Singer, cultivated on wheat stalk. The total fresh mushroom yields obtained with 100 g material (70% misture) after the three harvests and the total harvest time were calculated. P.sajor-caju gave the highest yield as 20.2 g. The yield of P. ostreatus was 17.9 g and the lowest yield was P. eryngii, 4.5 g. Total harvest time of mushrooms were determined. As the P. sajor-caju was harvestedin 67.46 days, P. ostreatus was harvested in 82.64 days and P. eryngii was harvested in 85.27 days. For chemical composition analysis the fruiting bodies of mushrooms were collected after the first productive flow and dried in an oven at 60°C at a constant weight and kept under refrigeration at 4°C. Energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate, dietary fibre, moisture, ash (g in 100 g dried matter) and amino acids(mg in 1 g dried matter) of mushrooms were analysed. In P. eryngii and P. sajor-caju the highest amount of amino acid was from aspartic acid and the lowest was from methionine. The highest and the lowestamino acid amount in P. ostreatus were from glutamic acid and methionine, respectively. The histidine amino acid was just detected in P. eryngii but hydroxy-L-proline was not detected in mushrooms. Theenergy (kcal/100 g dried matter), fat, protein, carbohydrate, dietary fibre, moisture and ash (g/100 g dried matter) values of P. eryngii were 276.33, 11.95, 7.50, 39.85, 28.45, 7.23 and 4.89, respevtively.These values for P. ostreatus were 243.66, 17.12, 2.60, 37.87, 30.25, 7.39 and 4.78, respectively. The values for P. sajor-caju were 229.22, 16.75, 1.15, 37.72, 30.67, 7.42 and 5.84, respectively

    Interaction Between Motor Domains Can Explain the Complex Dynamics of Heterodimeric Kinesins

    Motor proteins are active enzyme molecules that play a crucial role in many biological processes. They transform the chemical energy into the mechanical work and move unidirectionally along rigid cytoskeleton filaments. Single-molecule experiments suggest that motor proteins, consisting of two motor domains, move in a hand-over-hand mechanism when each subunit changes between trailing and leading positions in alternating steps, and these subunits do not interact with each other. However, recent experiments on heterodimeric kinesins suggest that the motion of motor domains is not independent, but rather strongly coupled and coordinated, although the mechanism of these interactions are not known. We propose a simple discrete stochastic model to describe the dynamics of homodimeric and heterodimeric two-headed motor proteins. It is argued that interactions between motor domains modify free energy landscapes of each motor subunit, and motor proteins still move via the hand-over-hand mechanism but with different transitions rates. Our calculations of biophysical properties agree with experimental observations. Several ways to test the theoretical model are proposed.Comment: To appear in New J. Phy
