Character design and marketing – Designer toys

    Get PDF
Designing a series of my characters and one story for those characters is the first step in this project. Those characters will be presented on my design products from 2D to 3D and from t-shirt to cell phone downloads. There are four categories for my design works. The first part is 2D print media. I will put those characters on posters, stickers and post cards. Also, the customers can have my character designs on their t-shirts. The second is that I will have real toy models for my characters. The customers can have my real design works, and they can touch them and play with them personally. The third section is for cell phone downloads. There will be a set of downloads for cell phones, such as wallpapers, screensavers and games. The last category is to create icons, games, wallpapers and animations for computer users. Making a dynamic website is my final stage. The customers can access my website. The website using dynamic PHP MySQL database has shopping cart functions. the customers can register for an account, and then they can login to use some functions just for registered members, like a live chat room where customers can have simultaneous answers from a store owner

An optimization of UWB antenna location

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]A novel optimization procedure for the location of transmitting antenna in ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless communication systems is presented. The impulse responses of different transceiver locations are computed by ray-tracing techniques and inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT). By using the impulse responses of these multi-path channels, the bit error rate (BER) performance for binary pulse amplitude modulation (BPAM) impulse radio UWB communication system are calculated. Based on the BER performance, outage probability of arbitrary region of receivers for any given location of the transmitter can be computed. The optimization of location of transmitting antenna in this paper is using nonuniform steady-state genetic algorithm (NU-SSGA) to minimize the outage probability. The optimization algorithm includes not only good searching accuracy but also calculating efficiency.[[notice]]需補地點及國別[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20090705~2009070

A systematic analysis of Epstein-Barr virus genes and their individual contribution to virus production and composition reveals critical downstream functions

A vaccine to prevent infectious diseases associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been put forward decades ago but has not made it to the clinic yet. EBV is a very complex herpes virus and its complexity, uncertainties about viral antigenic targets and technical difficulties to establish and mass-produce viral mutants are major obstacles. To mimic the complexity of the virus which encompasses more than 80 proteins, virus-like particles (VLPs) have a high potential as a vaccine prototype. To explore conditions to optimize and improve virus production, I established and tested an EBV gene library with 78 expression plasmids and a set of designed shRNAs investigating the functions of individual viral genes in the context of virus synthesis. Engineered virus stocks were then systematically characterized with respect to virus titers, bioparticle and physical particle concentration and virus uptake by primary human B cells, EBV’s target cells in vivo. To quantitate virus uptake by these cells, I developed a novel ß-lactamase-based assay that can monitor fusion events of the viral envelope with membranes of recipient cells at the level of single cells by flow cytometry. Together, my results identified several EBV genes such as BALF4, BVLF1 and BKRF4, encoding a viral glycoprotein, a regulator of transcription of late viral genes, and a possible tegument protein, respectively, that improve virus production regarding virus yield, virus composition and quality and virus uptake. My experi¬ments also indicated that EBV does not encode a master gene that governs EBV synthesis dampening virus production, contrary to my initial working hypothesis. Conditional expression of viral genes that improve EBV production as identified in my work will likely enhance and improve yield, assembly and important functional parameters of VLPs (such as their efficient uptake by antigen presenting immune cells, for example) supporting the development of a much improved EB-VLP based vaccine candidate to be used for clinical development and testing

INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS ON MECHANICS OF CHILDREN'S LANDING

    Get PDF
biomechanical implications of the impact and the resulting loads placed on lower extremity tissues of adults. This fact has caused a lack of research papers devoted to children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic and kinetic differences of children barefoot drop landing from three different heights (20, 40, 60 cm). Kinematic and kinetic data were acquired simultaneously, and then data were processed by inverse dynamics in order to acquire mechanical load data acting on the ankle, knee, and hip Joints. The quantitative results of the present study might generate more knowledge about the motor performance and the importance of landing. This knowledge should be considered while teaching, coaching and training children

Taiwan and the World Health Assembly/World Health Organization : perspectives from health services and research

    Get PDF
Despite being one of Asia’s major economies with a population of over 23 million, Taiwan has been mostly excluded from the World Health Assembly/World Health Organization (wha/who) since 1972, due to China’s objection. While this has not stopped Taiwan from developing a comprehensive healthcare system and being an active member of international health community, the lack of membership in the world’s leading health authority undermines global health and presents perverse, and yet often neglected, inequality faced by Taiwanese people. This article aims to provide contextual information concerning the impacts of Taiwan’s exclusion from wha/who by: (1) enumerating health-related areas where Taiwan has rich knowledge and experiences that would have been cascaded much more widely and efficiently to those in need around the world had it been allowed to participate; and (2) highlighting difficulties faced by Taiwanese people and potential threats to international health arising from the exclusion

QCD Viscosity to Entropy Density Ratio in the Hadronic Phase

    Get PDF
Shear viscosity (eta) of QCD in the hadronic phase is computed by the coupled Boltzmann equations of pions and nucleons in low temperatures and low baryon number densities. The eta to entropy density ratio eta/s maps out the nuclear gas-liquid phase transition by forming a valley tracing the phase transition line in the temperature-chemical potential plane. When the phase transition turns into a crossover, the eta/s valley gradually disappears. We suspect the general feature for a first-order phase transition is that eta/s has a discontinuity in the bottom of the eta/s valley. The discontinuity coincides with the phase transition line and ends at the critical point. Beyond the critical point, a smooth eta/s valley is seen. However, the valley could disappear further away from the critical point. The eta/s measurements might provide an alternative to identify the critical points.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures.
