Spin-Wave Excitations of Half-Filled Kondo Lattice Model

The spin excitations in the antiferromagnetic phase of half-filled Kondo lattice model are studied by means of the decoupling approximation for spin Green's function. The spin-wave spectrum is calculated as a function of Kondo coupling, and this is used to calculate the thermodynamic quantities at low temperatures. The N\'{e}el temperature of the form TN=0.087J2ln(1/J)T_{\rm N}=0.087{J}^2\ln{(1/J)} is obtained for the 3-dimensional case in the weak-coupling limit. It is pointed out that the ratio of the spin-wave velocity to the N\'{e}el temperature vs/TNv_s/T_{\rm N} is enhanced as the Kondo coupling becomes small, reflecting the long-range nature of effective interactions between localized spins.Comment: 6 pages, LaTeX, 2 figure

Anti-Helicobacter pylori (HP) activities were examined, by disc method, on three total alkaloid fractions and fourteen steroidal alkaloids obtained from three Veratrum plants ( V. manckii, V. nigrum var. ussuriense and V. patulum) , which are used as a name of "Li-lu (藜蘆)" to treat aphasia arising from apoplexy, wind type dysentery, jaundice, headache, scabies, chronic malaria, etc. Among them, verapatulin (12) and veratramine (13) revealed anti-HP activities, and the disc-minimum inhibitory concentration (disk-MIC) value (10 μg/ml) of 12 against two standard HP strains, NCTC11637 and NCTC11916, was higher than that of a clinically used antibiotic, erythromycin (≦0.013 μg/ml) , but was comparable to those of penicillin G (3.1 μg/ml and 1.6 μg/ml, respectively).

Adalimumab Monotherapy in a Patient with Psoriatic Arthritis Associated with Chronic Renal Failure on Hemodialysis: A Case Report and Literature Review

    Get PDF
We report a patient with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) who was successfully treated with adalimumab even while under hemodialysis therapy for associated chronic renal failure. Flow cytometry of circulating lymphocytes revealed an obvious decrease in both Th1 and Th17 cells after starting adalimumab. The latter returned to the pretreatment level in the course of adalimumab therapy, while the former did not. Adalimumab is a potent therapeutic option for PsA patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis, and Th1 in peripheral blood may reflect the disease activity

Calibration of CRL all-sky imagers using an integrating sphere

    Get PDF
As part of an international collaboration with the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska, we have developed two all-sky imagers (CRL-ASIs). A sensitivity calibration of the CRL-ASIs was performed using an integrating sphere belonging to the National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR). The two-dimensional sensitivities of the CRL-ASIs produced symmetrical distributions. Using this sensitivity data, we converted airglow/aurora images into two-dimensional distributions of absolute intensity. The sensitivity of the CRL-ASIs was measured for 13 wavelengths between 427.8 nm and 866.5 nm, and the relationship between the sensitivity and the wavelength was investigated for both imagers. The peak sensitivity occurred at about 550 nm
