The literal association phenomenon within the scope of Arabic linguistics
This article highlights the Phenomenon of the Literal Association (Ẓāhirat al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī) within the field of Arabic Linguistics in which the perspectives of the classical and modern scholars of Arabic Linguistics are viewed, analysed, and evaluated in order to reach the conclusion of whether or not such a linguistic phenomenon exists. The theory of this research is based on the analytical research methodology and inductive research methodology, which will employ both the quantitative and qualitative approaches by which we explore the definition of the literal association in the Arabic language, the opinions and disputes of scholars of the Arabic language about the existence of literal association in the Arabic language, the factors and the reasons behind the emergence of literal association in the Arabic language, and the factors by which the semantics of the literal association can be determined in the Arabic language
The phenomenon of literal association in the Qur’ān
This article highlights the phenomenon of the Literal Association (Ẓāhiratal-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī)within the science of Tafsīrand Qur’ānin which the perspectives of some of the scholars of Tafsīrwill be viewed, analysed, and evaluated in order to get to the conclusion of whether or not such a linguistic phenomenon exists in the Qur’ānby providing some examples from the Qur’ānand the comments of the scholars of Tafsīron those examples. The Negative Effects of Maternal Postpartum Depression on Infant Directed Speech (IDS) and Infant Cognitive Ability
The language used by caregivers plays an essential role in the development of an infant’s language and cognitive ability. This refers to both the quality and the quantity of language used by the caregiver. In cases where the primary caregiver is a mother who is suffering from maternal postpartum depression, the quality and quantity of speech and language used to suffer greatly. This article examines how maternal postpartum depression negatively affects a mother’s use of Infant Directed Speech (IDS) and how this results in delayed language learning in infants. It first seeks to define the linguistic and emotional aspects of IDS in order to place maternal depression in its context. It then examines how children are negatively impacted by this and briefly looks at gender influences and possible solutions for this problem. This study makes use of and combines the results of previous research conducted on varying aspects of the effects of maternal postpartum depression on IDS and infant cognitive ability. The studies used tracked the cognitive developments of infants ranging from 2 months to 4 years of age; They each collected data from infants who had depressed and non-depressed mothers. In all cases, the results showed that maternal postpartum depression negatively affects IDS and infant cognitive ability
The History of Irish and Canadian Englishes: A Comparative Historical Overview
This article aims to compare and provide the historical linguistic background of Irish and Canadian Englishes in terms of their language history and lexicon. This research adopted the comparative historical research method which looks into the language history of one variety in comparison to another variety within the same language. Thus, this article discusses the history of Canadian English in comparison to the history of Irish English as well as the lexicon and vocabulary of Canadian English comparatively to the lexicon and vocabulary of Irish English which results in how the historical background in terms of culture and language and the geographical location of these two varieties have shaped, over time, what we now call Canadian English and Irish English which contain some differences and similarities to one another. This article results in the stages and the factors by which the lexicon of Irish English and Canadian English have been shaped and impacted
The Methodological Principles for Translating the Literal Association (al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī) in the Qur’ān to the English Language
The aim of this study is to provide methodological principles for translating the Literal Association (al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī) in the Qur’ān which has not yet been explored in the field of translation studies due to the gap that currently exists between the science of Tafsīr (the interpretation of the Qur’ān) and the science of Translation in relation to the Literal Association Phenomenon in the Qur’ān, and this is where the research problems lie. This study employs the analytical and inductive research methodologies in which the ʾāyāt (Qur’ānic signs) of the Literal Association and their semantics (meanings) are analysed and studied based on the approach and the perspective of Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in his book of Tafsīr. This current study investigates and examines 581 ‘āyāt containing wordings of Literal Association from Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī’s Tafsīr which is known as al-Tafsīr al-Maʾthūr (narration-based type of Tafsīr). This research results in an extraction of 46 methodological rules for the process of translating the Literal Association in the Qur’ān. Additionally, this research results in a disciplined systematic study with a clear methodological framework which will be used in the science of Translation in place of the translations of the Qur’ān which have rendered this phenomenon based on their literal (linguistic) meanings and not their actual intended meanings (pragmatic functions) taken from their Qur’ānic contexts which surely result in some semantic clashes and contradictions
Navigating Professional Registration and Development Pathways: Perspectives of Healthcare Practitioners
The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) has undertaken a comprehensive evaluation of its registration and classification services to pinpoint areas for optimization. Recognizing healthcare professionals as essential stakeholders, SCFHS actively solicited their perspectives to better understand their needs and to collect actionable suggestions for service enhancement. Employing a multifaceted research approach, this study utilized focus groups, a large-scale survey involving over 700,000 healthcare practitioners, and comparative benchmarking against selected G-20 nations. The findings indicate a strong desire among practitioners for a reorganisation of the current registration and classification procedures. Notably, there was a consensus for extending the registration period, with a predominant preference for a five-year duration. Participants also advocated for various improvements, such as an increase in Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours, financial cost reductions, and streamlining of registration processes. While benchmarking revealed that SCFHS's existing registration durations are generally on par with other G-20 countries, it also highlighted potential opportunities for diversifying registration types to better meet the needs of healthcare professionals
