    Oxide‐Based Solid‐State Batteries: A Perspective on Composite Cathode Architecture

    The garnet-type phase Li7_7La3_3Zr2_2O12_{12} (LLZO) attracts significant attention as an oxide solid electrolyte to enable safe and robust solid-state batteries (SSBs) with potentially high energy density. However, while significant progress has been made in demonstrating compatibility with Li metal, integrating LLZO into composite cathodes remains a challenge. The current perspective focuses on the critical issues that need to be addressed to achieve the ultimate goal of an all-solid-state LLZO-based battery that delivers safety, durability, and pack-level performance characteristics that are unobtainable with state-of-the-art Li-ion batteries. This perspective complements existing reviews of solid/solid interfaces with more emphasis on understanding numerous homo- and heteroionic interfaces in a pure oxide-based SSB and the various phenomena that accompany the evolution of the chemical, electrochemical, structural, morphological, and mechanical properties of those interfaces during processing and operation. Finally, the insights gained from a comprehensive literature survey of LLZO–cathode interfaces are used to guide efforts for the development of LLZO-based SSBs

    PyPose: A Library for Robot Learning with Physics-based Optimization

    Deep learning has had remarkable success in robotic perception, but its data-centric nature suffers when it comes to generalizing to ever-changing environments. By contrast, physics-based optimization generalizes better, but it does not perform as well in complicated tasks due to the lack of high-level semantic information and the reliance on manual parametric tuning. To take advantage of these two complementary worlds, we present PyPose: a robotics-oriented, PyTorch-based library that combines deep perceptual models with physics-based optimization techniques. Our design goal for PyPose is to make it user-friendly, efficient, and interpretable with a tidy and well-organized architecture. Using an imperative style interface, it can be easily integrated into real-world robotic applications. Besides, it supports parallel computing of any order gradients of Lie groups and Lie algebras and 2nd2^{\text{nd}}-order optimizers, such as trust region methods. Experiments show that PyPose achieves 3-20×\times speedup in computation compared to state-of-the-art libraries.     ABSTRACT Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) have demonstrated their capability of improving the fuel economy and emission. The Plug-in HEV (PHEV), utilizing more battery power, has become a more attractive upgrade of HEV. The charge-depletion mode is more appropriate for the power management of PHEV, i.e. the state of charge (SOC) is expected to drop to a low threshold when the vehicle reaches the destination of the trip. In the past, the trip information has been considered as future information for vehicle operation and thus unavailable a priori. This situation can be changed by the current advancement of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) based on the use of on-board GPS, GIS and advanced traffic flow modeling techniques. In this paper, a new approach of optimal power management of PHEV in the charge-depletion mode is proposed with driving cycle modeling based on the historic traffic information for the highway portion and the traffic lights signals information for the local road portion. A dynamic programming (DP) algorithm is applied to reinforce the charge-depletion control such that the SOC drops to a specific terminal value at the final time of the cycle. The vehicle model was based on a hybrid SUV. Only fuel consumption is considered for the current stage of study. For the local road part, a trip modeling scheme was developed based on the synchronization with the traffic signals. Simulation study was conducted for several standard driving cycles, and then for an example trip. The results showed significant improvement in fuel economy compared with a rule-based control and a depletionsustenance control for most cases. The benefit of using traffic signal in trip modeling was also revealed from the improved fuel economy

    For the lack of command and control modeling principles and mechanisms in the current end-to-end campaign tactical level simulation for unmanned air combat, this paper systematically combs and studies the recent research in unmanned air campaign tactical simulation. Combined with the relevant research, this paper explored the principles and methods of different C2 modeling at different simulation levels and established a C2 simulation system suitable for the characteristics of CISE in unmanned air combat. Further, theoretical and practical guidance is provided for innovative demonstration and evaluation methods of CISE through the effectiveness evaluation support of unmanned air combat tasks

    Ligand-modulated nickel-catalyzed regioselective silylalkylation of alkenes

    Abstract Organosilicon compounds have shown tremendous potential in drug discovery and their synthesis stimulates wide interest. Multicomponent cross-coupling of alkenes with silicon reagents is used to yield complex silicon-containing compounds from readily accessible feedstock chemicals but the reaction with simple alkenes remains challenging. Here, we report a regioselective silylalkylation of simple alkenes, which is enabled by using a stable Ni(II) salt and an inexpensive trans−1,2-diaminocyclohexane ligand as a catalyst. Remarkably, this reaction can tolerate a broad range of olefins bearing various functional groups, including alcohol, ester, amides and ethers, thus it allows for the efficient and selective assembly of a diverse range of bifunctional organosilicon building blocks from terminal alkenes, alkyl halides and the Suginome reagent. Moreover, an expedient synthetic route toward alpha-Lipoic acid has been developed by this methodology

    Examining the effect of land-use function complementarity on intra-urban spatial interactions using metro smart card records

    Spatial interaction is an important phenomenon that reflects the human–land relationship and has long been a core topic in multiple fields, such as urban planning, transportation planning, commodity trade, and epidemic prevention. However, as an underlying cause of spatial interaction, function complementarity has been ignored by existing research for a long time. At the same time, the increase in Big Data of travel behavior provides an opportunity to model spatial interactions in detail. In this paper, we proposed three types of land-use function complementarity indices according to the spatiotemporal characteristics of human mobility. These complementarity indices are introduced to spatial interaction to improve the gravity model. We also examined the effects of land function complementarity on intra-urban spatial interaction using smart card records of metro system for different time periods and directions. The results showed that all models could be improved by introducing the land-use function complementarity indices, but the models with a single travel pattern and clear direction were explained more by the complementary indices. The indices we propose in this paper could be used for predicting spatial flow and trip distribution, and also could be considered as factors in researches about transportation and land-use planning

    The Effect of the “Triple-Layer Medical Security” Policy on the Vulnerability as Expected Poverty of Rural Households: Evidence from Yunnan Province, China

    China launched the “critical battle against poverty” nationwide in 2012. As its main battlefield, Yunnan province promulgated the “triple medical security” (TMS) policy in 2017. This study, based on the pooled cross-section database of 2015–2020 of registered poor households in Yunnan province, employed the logit model to examine the effect of TMS on the vulnerability as expected poverty (VEP) of these households. It found that increasing the reimbursement rates for overall medical expenses and inpatient expenses and decreasing the proportion of out-of-pocket medical payment to income reduced the VEP; increases in the number of sick people in the family increased its VEP, and although the increase in the reimbursement rate for overall medical expenses or for inpatient expenses partially offset the VEP caused by the increase in the number of chronically ill people in the family, the VEP caused by the increase in the number of critically ill people would increase in the short term with the increase in the reimbursement rate for overall medical expenses or for inpatient expenses. The findings help improve policies concerning the medical security and health of the rural poor population, providing theoretical reference and practical guidance for future research

    A combined amplicon approach to nematode polyparasitism occurring in captive wild animals in southern China

    Abstract Background Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) nematodes prefer to live in the intestines of wild animals, causing damage and even death, and posing a zoonotic risk. The polyparasitism of GIT nematodes results in the complex dynamics of the nematode communities that occur naturally in wild animals. However, the nematode community in captive wild animals is poorly understood. Methods We combined  microscopic examination and amplicon sequencing for community diversity. Results We characterized GIT nematode assemblages to one order, one family, four genera, and ten species, in 512 fecal samples of 121 species from captive wild animals in southern China. The positive rate of GIT nematodes was 20.7% (106/512), including 42.3% (11/26) in reptiles, 26.5% (39/147) in herbivores, 25.0% (25/100) in non-human primates, 20.0% (5/25) in omnivores, 12.2% (9/74) in carnivores, and 12.1% (17/140) in avians. The dominant nematodes were Haemonchus contortus in herbivores and Trichuris species in primates. The nematode communities of arboreal primates differed from their terrestrial counterparts, reflecting both host phylogeny and ecological constraints. Soil-transmitted Strongyloides species were widespread throughout the herbivore, primate, avian, and carnivore communities, and tended to infect omnivorous primates and terrestrial herbivores. In addition, new Trichuris and Heterakis species were found in the nematode communities of captive porcupines and peafowls. Conclusion This study highlights the variation in the composition of the GIT nematode community and strengthens the attention to the harms induced by zoonotic nematodes and co-infective nematodes with low species richness.
