    Unusual cross-shelf transport driven by the changes of wind pattern in a marginal sea

However, an unusual tongue-shaped structure of cold water is observed in satellite SST data in January 2017, indicating a possible offshore spread of cold coastal water into the middle Southern Yellow Sea (SYS). Additional observations, including in situ hydrographic data as well as direct current measurement, also suggest this cross-shelf transport of the Korean Coastal Water in January 2017. Our analysis shows that this flow breaks through the isobaths at ∼37°N, moves southward between 50–75 m, and eventually veers anti-cyclonically at ∼35°N to join the western slope of the SYS. This circulation pattern is further supported by heat budget analysis. Diagnosis of potential vorticity (PV) reveals that the elevated negative PV anomaly imposed by surface wind stress favors this unusual cross-shelf transport. The change of wind pattern, although under a deceasing wind speed condition, plays an important role.     Prevalence and Risk Factors Associated with Prehypertension among Young and Middle-Aged Health Check-Up Population in Guangzhou

    Objective: To provide basic information and theories for prehypertension early intervention, a systematic analysis of the epidemic status and risk factors among young and middle-aged was carried out here. Methods: This study relied on the data bank of a health check-up population of a class a tertiary general hospital in Guangdong province in 2015. Total 9540 young and middle-aged adults were enrolled, and 733 people were included to find out the effect with lifestyle in these crowd. Principal Components Analysis (PCA) of Factor (FA) was used to identify dietary patterns. The logistic regression model was used to find the risk factors of prehypertension. Results: Among 9540 young and middle-aged cases, the incidence of prehypertension was 36.6%. Moreover, the average age, proportion of male gender, overweight, FBG (fasting blood glucose), dyslipidemia, and hyperuricemia were significantly higher in the prehypertension group than in the optimal BP group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that age, total cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid, body mass index and HR (heart rate) were risk factors, and female was a protective factor for prehypertension. Among 733 cases, the incidence of prehypertension was 35.1%. The proportion of smoking, drinking, physical workers, moderate and severe physical activity, and the intake of meat, dietary energy were significantly higher in the prehypertension group than in the optimal BP group. Dietary patterns included “meat model”, “spice model”, “main vegeTables model” and “high protein model”. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that age, drinking were risk factors for prehypertension, while dietary milk intake, dietary magnesium intake were protective factors. Conclusions: Prehypertension is highly prevalent in Guangzhou. However, education about effective lifestyle modifications as an alcohol limit, increasing the intake of dairy products, and magnesium may intervene in the development of prehypertension. But how to develop targeted interventions for such groups need to be further explored. The present study would lay the theoretical foundation and basic data for the next step

    Unraveling the Prognostic Significance of Rgs Gene Family in Gastric Cancer and the Potential Implication of Rgs4 in Regulating Tumor-infiltrating Fibroblast

    Regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) proteins are regulators of signal transduction mediated by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Current studies have shown that some molecules in the RGS gene family are related to the occurrence, development and poor prognosis of malignant tumors. However, the RGS gene family has been rarely studied in gastric cancer. In this study, we explored the mutation and expression profile of RGS gene family in gastric cancer, and evaluated the prognostic value of RGS expression. Then we established a prognostic model based on RGS gene family and performed functional analysis. Further studies showed that RGS4, as an independent prognostic predictor, may play an important role in regulating fibroblasts in the immune microenvironment. In conclusion, this study explores the value of RGS gene family in gastric cancer, which is of great significance for predicting the prognosis and guiding the treatment of gastric cancer

    Effects of Coronal Magnetic Field Configuration on Particle Acceleration and Release during the Ground Level Enhancement Events in Solar Cycle 24

    Ground level enhancements (GLEs) are extreme solar energetic particle (SEP) events that are of particular importance in space weather. In solar cycle 24, two GLEs were recorded on 2012 May 17 (GLE 71) and 2017 September 10 (GLE 72), respectively, by a range of advanced modern instruments. Here we conduct a comparative analysis of the two events by focusing on the effects of large-scale magnetic field configuration near active regions on particle acceleration and release. Although the active regions both located near the western limb, temporal variations of SEP intensities and energy spectra measured in-situ display different behaviors at early stages. By combining a potential field model, we find the CME in GLE 71 originated below the streamer belt, while in GLE 72 near the edge of the streamer belt. We reconstruct the CME shock fronts with an ellipsoid model based on nearly simultaneous coronagraph images from multi-viewpoints, and further derive the 3D shock geometry at the GLE onset. The highest-energy particles are primarily accelerated in the shock-streamer interaction regions, i.e., likely at the nose of the shock in GLE 71 and the eastern flank in GLE 72, due to quasi-perpendicular shock geometry and confinement of closed fields. Subsequently, they are released to the field lines connecting to near-Earth spacecraft when the shocks move through the streamer cusp region. This suggests that magnetic structures in the corona, especially shock-streamer interactions, may have played an important role in the acceleration and release of the highest-energy particles in the two events.Comment: Accepted for publication in Ap

    COVID-19 prevention and control measures and experiences during the 14th National Games of China: a qualitative interview study

    BackgroundThe 14th National Games was the first sporting mass gathering to be held in China in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It may increase the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 transmission. In order to reduce the spread of the virus during the 14th National Games, the Chinese government took a series of public health measures, and ultimately no confirmed cases were found in the 14th National Games venues.ObjectiveThis study aimed to discuss preventive and control measures used to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic during the 14th National Games.MethodsFive experts were selected for this study using a snowball sampling method, and semistructured and in-depth interviews were conducted. Based on grounded theory, the transcriptions were analysed and coded using Nvivo 12 software.ResultsA theoretical model of the COVID-19 prevention and control measures at the 14th National Games of China was constructed. The model contains seven main components: the health risks of mass gatherings, crowd management, emergency medical care, allocation of emergency medical resources, pandemic emergency drills, the pandemic prevention and control management platform (Quanyuntong app), and emergency response plans.ConclusionThe study showed that the deployment of emergency medical resources was the most important for mass gatherings. This study not only expanded the applications of grounded theory but also serves as a reference for future scholars when conducting more in-depth empirical studies on public health countermeasures for mass gatherings and can inform organizers when holding mass gatherings

    Correlation and combining ability analysis of physiological traits and some agronomic traits in maize

    Combining ability information on the physiological traits in maize (Zea mays L) and the relationship between physi¬ological traits and biomass, grain yield (GY) and yield components (YC) can help maize breeders design experi¬ments for improving inbred lines and/or developing hybrids with improved GY or YC (GYYC). A six-parent diallel experiment (Griffing method 3) was conducted for combining ability and correlation analyses. The objectives of this study were to 1) study the correlation between physiological traits and biomass at seedling stage; 2) study which physiological traits at seedling stage have significant correlation with biomasses at both seedling and later growth stages and GYYCs; 3) evaluate combining ability of the physiological traits that are significantly correlated with either GY or one of the YCs. Results showed plant heights at 20 day, 40 day, and leaf area were highly corre¬lated with both dry weights of shoots and roots. All chlorophyll-related organelles were significantly correlated with only dry weights of shoots. However, dry matter at seedling stage seemed not to be related to dry matter in later growth stages. Five physiological traits (stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, net photosynthetic rate, two quantum yield related traits) at seedling stage were identified to greatly impact dry matter at later growth stages. Results also showed that 13 out of 35 physiological traits studied were significantly correlated with GYYCs. Differ¬ent germplasms for improving GYYCs could be used based on both correlation between the 13 traits and GYYCs and combining ability effects of each line for the 13 selected traits
