One-step hydrothermal synthesis of fluorescence carbon quantum dots with high product yield and quantum yield

    Get PDF
A one-step hydrothermal synthesis of nitrogen and silicon co-doped fluorescence carbon quantum dots (N,Si-CQDs), from citric acid monohydrate and silane coupling agent KH-792 with a high product yield (PY) of 52.56% and high quantum yield (QY) of 97.32%, was developed. This greatly improves both the PY and QY of CQDs and provides a new approach for a large-scale production of high-quality CQDs. Furthermore, N,Si-CQDs were employed as phosphors without dispersants to fabricate white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) with the color coordinates at (0.29, 0.32). It is suggested that N,Si-CQDs have great potential as promising fluorescent materials to be applied in WLEDs.Peer reviewe

This article is an open access article distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)To greatly improve the production quality and efficiency of carbon quantum dots (CQDs), and provide a new approach for the large-scale production of high-quality CQDs, green carbon quantum dots (g-CQDs) with high product yield (PY) and high fluorescent quantum yield (QY) were synthesized by an efficient one-step solvothermal method with 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene as the carbon source and ethylenediamine as the nitrogen dopant in this study. The PY and QY of g-CQDs were optimised by adjusting reaction parameters such as an amount of added ethylenediamine, reaction temperature, and reaction duration. The results showed that the maximum PY and QY values of g-CQDs were achieved, which were 70.90% and 62.98%, respectively when the amount of added ethylenediamine, reaction temperature, and reaction duration were 4 mL, 180 °C, and 12 h, respectively. With the optimised QY value of g-CQDs, white light emitting diodes (white LEDs) were prepared by combining g-CQDs and blue chip. The colour rendering index of white LEDs reached 87, and the correlated colour temperature was 2520 K, which belongs to the warm white light area and is suitable for indoor lighting. These results indicate that g-CQDs have potential and wide application prospects in the field of white LEDs.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

Direct solution of Navier-Stokes equations by using an upwind local RBF-DQ method

    Get PDF
The differential quadrature (DQ) method is able to obtain quite accurate numerical solutions of differential equations with few grid points and less computational effort. However, the traditional DQ method is convenient only for regular regions and lacks upwind mechanism to characterize the convection of the fluid flow. In this paper, an upwind local radial basis function-based DQ (RBF-DQ) method is applied to solve the Navier-Stokes equations, instead of using an iterative algorithm for the primitive variables. The non-linear collocated equations are solved using the Levenberg-Marquardt method. The irregular regions of 2D channel flow with different obstructions situations are considered. Finally, the approach is validated by comparing the results with those obtained using the well-validated Fluent commercial package

CELLULASE6 and MANNANASE7 affect cell differentiation and silique dehiscence in Arabidopsis

Cellulases, hemicellulases and pectinases play important roles in fruit development and maturation, but mutants with defects in the fruit have not been reported for cellulase or hemicellulase genes. Here we report the functional characterization of cellulase gene CEL6 and hemicellulase gene MAN7 in silique development and dehiscence in Arabidopsis. These genes were found to be expressed in vegetative and reproductive organs, and their expression in the silique partially depended on the IND and ALC transcriptional factors. Mutant alleles of cel6 and man7 exhibited delayed secondary cell wall thickening and altered cell morphology in the valve margin and impaired silique dehiscence. Cells in the separation layer in nearly mature siliques of the single mutants and the cel6-1 man7-3 double mutant remained intact whereas they degenerated in the wild-type control. Phenotypic studies of single, double, triple and quadruple mutants revealed that the higher-order mutant combinations of the cel6-1, man7-3, and pectinase adpg1-1 and adpg2- 1 mutations produced more severe silique indehiscent phenotypes than the corresponding lower-order mutant combinations, except for some combinations involving cel6-1, man7-3, and adpg2-1. Our results demonstrate that the ability of the silique to dehisce can be manipulated to different degrees by altering the activities of proteins of different types.Plant Biology, Ecology and Evolutio

In recent years, machine vision technology and robot control technology have attracted lots attention of the researchers. They provide people with fast and efficient services in many fields, which have an increasingly important impact on the modern manufacturing industry and the inspection industry. In this paper, a mechanical vision-based grab control system based on machine vision is developed and analyzed accordingly. This design employs industrial cameras with Gigabit Ethernet ports, six-degree-of-freedom servo drive robots. The Host computer control software is designed on the development platform provided by Microsoft and processed in machine vision image processing. The software has implemented an image processing algorithm. It aims to combine machine vision, robot control and other technologies to achieve precise positioning, recognition and capture of targets. In the end, the proposed method is displayed in the upper computer accordingly
