    Insulator-metal transition shift related to magnetic polarons in La0.67-xYxCa0.33MnO3

    The magnetic transport properties have been measured for La0.67-xYxCa0.33MnO3 (0 <= x <= 0.14) system. It was found that the transition temperature Tp almost linearly moves to higher temperature as H increases. Electron spin resonance confirms that above Tp, there exist ferromagnetic clusters. From the magnetic polaron point of view, the shift of Tp vs. H was understood, and it was estimated that the size of the magnetic polaron is of 9.7~15.4 angstrom which is consistent with the magnetic correlation length revealed by the small-angle neutron-scattering technique.     The effects of manual airing strategies and architectural factors on the indoor air quality in college classrooms: a case study

    In China, natural ventilation is a common way of improving indoor air quality (IAQ) in college classrooms. However, until now, the effects of both manual airing strategies and architectural factors on IAQ in classrooms have not been well explored. The present work aimed to investigate the effect of manual airing strategies, such as opening doors and opening exterior or interior windows, on the concentrations of both carbon dioxide (CO_{2}) and fine particulate matter (PM_{2.5}) in classrooms using field measurements. Through simulation, the effects of floor level, room orientation and the height of interior windows on CO_{2} concentration were also analysed. The results of this study revealed that (1) simultaneously opening doors and exterior windows or opening the doors alone could effectively reduce the indoor CO2 concentration, but the same effect could not be achieved by opening interior windows only; (2) the indoor PM_{2.5} concentration was primarily affected by the level of outdoor PM_{2.5}, and it may exceed the recommended limit by 33% when the outdoor pollution level is high, even with closed doors and windows; and (3) in winter, both floor level and classroom orientation exerted a significant influence on the indoor CO_{2} concentration, but the height of interior windows had no effect

    ABI5–FLZ13 module transcriptionally represses growth-related genes to delay seed germination in response to ABA

    The bZIP transcription factor ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE5 (ABI5) is a master regulator of seed germination and post-germinative growth in response to abscisic acid (ABA), but the detailed molecular mechanism by which it represses plant growth remains unclear. In this study, we used proximity labeling to map the neighboring proteome of ABI5 and identified FCS-LIKE ZINC FINGER PROTEIN 13 (FLZ13) as a novel ABI5 interaction partner. Phenotypic analysis of flz13 mutants and FLZ13-overexpressing lines demonstrated that FLZ13 acts as a positive regulator of ABA signaling. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that both FLZ13 and ABI5 downregulate the expression of ABA-repressed and growth-related genes involved in chlorophyll biosynthesis, photosynthesis, and cell wall organization, thereby repressing seed germination and seedling establishment in response to ABA. Further genetic analysis showed that FLZ13 and ABI5 function together to regulate seed germination. Collectively, our findings reveal a previously uncharacterized transcriptional regulatory mechanism by which ABA mediates inhibition of seed germination and seedling establishment

    Multi-omics integrated circulating cell-free DNA genomic signatures enhanced the diagnostic performance of early-stage lung cancer and postoperative minimal residual disease

    Background: Liquid biopsy is a promising non-invasive alternative for cancer screening and minimal residual disease (MRD) detection, although there are some concerns regarding its clinical applications. We aimed to develop an accurate detection platform based on liquid biopsy for both cancer screening and MRD detection in patients with lung cancer (LC), which is also applicable to clinical use. / Methods: We applied a modified whole-genome sequencing (WGS) -based High-performance Infrastructure For MultIomics (HIFI) method for LC screening and postoperative MRD detection by combining the hyper-co-methylated read approach and the circulating single-molecule amplification and resequencing technology (cSMART2.0). / Findings: For early screening of LC, the LC score model was constructed using the support vector machine, which showed sensitivity (51.8%) at high specificity (96.3%) and achieved an AUC of 0.912 in the validation set prospectively enrolled from multiple centers. The screening model achieved detection efficiency with an AUC of 0.906 in patients with lung adenocarcinoma and outperformed other clinical models in solid nodule cohort. When applied the HIFI model to real social population, a negative predictive value (NPV) of 99.92% was achieved in Chinese population. Additionally, the MRD detection rate improved significantly by combining results from WGS and cSMART2.0, with sensitivity of 73.7% at specificity of 97.3%. / Interpretation: In conclusion, the HIFI method is promising for diagnosis and postoperative monitoring of LC

    Measurement of the chi_{c2} Polarization in psi(2S) to gamma chi_{c2}

    The polarization of the chi_{c2} produced in psi(2S) decays into gamma chi_{c2} is measured using a sample of 14*10^6 psi(2S) events collected by BESII at the BEPC. A fit to the chi_{c2} production and decay angular distributions in psi(2S) to gamma chi_{c2}, chi_{c2} to pi pi and KK yields values x=A_1/A_0=2.08+/-0.44 and y=A_2/A_0=3.03 +/-0.66, with a correlation rho=0.92 between them, where A_{0,1,2} are the chi_{c2} helicity amplitudes.
