Introduction: The wear failure of spindle will lead to a decrease in cotton harvesting rate of the cotton picker during field operation and serious wastage.Method: Three types of spindle samples at different installation positions and working areas were obtained through field experiments to explore the wear failure law of spindle hook teeth of cotton picker during field operation. Hardness of hook tooth coating and substrate of spindles were tested, surface and cross-section microstructure of the spindle hook teeth were characterized, and wear area and width of the spindle hook teeth were extracted. Results: Results showed that the hardness of the hook tooth coating is evidently higher than that of the substrate; the average coating hardness of the No. 3 spindle hook teeth reaches the maximum at 1033.6 HV0.1; defects, such as microcracks and micropores, exist in the coating of the three types of spindle hook teeth; and the thickness of the coating is between 70 and 130 μm. The wear area of spindle hook tooth changes exponentially and the wear width changes linearly with the increase of field operation area at the same installation position. The wear area and width of the spindle hook teeth gradually increase with the decrease of the installation height and the wear change of the hook teeth is negatively correlated with the installation height in the same field operation area.Discussion: The wear failure of spindle hook tooth is mainly caused by abrasive, fatigue, and oxidation wear. The results of this study can provide a reference for improving the wear resistance of spindle hook teeth

The transition period is the stage of the high incidence of metabolic and infectious diseases in dairy cows. Improving transition dairy cows’ health is crucial for the industry. This study aimed to determine the effects of dietary supplementation medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) on immune function, metabolic status, performance of transition dairy cows. Twenty multiparous Holstein cows randomly assigned to two treatments at 35 d before calving. 1) CON (fed the basal 2) MCFA treatment (basal diet was supplemented at an additional 20 g MCFAs mixture every day) until 70 d after calving. The results showed that the serum amyloid A myeloperoxidase concentrations in the blood of cows in MCFA treatment significantly decreased during the early lactation (from 1 d to 28 d after calving) 0.03, 0.04, respectively) compared with the CON, while the tumor necrosis factor concentration was significantly decreased at 56 d after calving (P = 0.02). In addition, the concentration of insulin in the pre-calving (from 21 d before calving to calving) blood of cows in MCFA treatment was significantly decreased (P = 0.04), and concentration of triglyceride also showed a downward trend at 28 d after calving 0.07). Meanwhile, MCFAs supplementation significantly decreased the concentrations of lithocholic acid, hyodeoxycholic acid, and hyocholic acid in the blood at 1 d calving (P = 0.02, < 0.01, < 0.01, respectively), and the level of hyocholic acid taurocholic acid concentrations (P < 0.01, = 0.01, respectively) decreased dramatically at 14 d after calving. However, compared with the CON, the pre-calving dry matter intake and the early lactation milk yield in MCFA treatment were significantly decreased (P = 0.05, 0.02, respectively). In conclusion, MCFAs supplementation transition diet could improve the immune function and metabolic status of dairy cows, and the health of transition cows might be beneficial from the endocrine status

Whether Achilles Could Catch Up the Turtle

Can a person chase up a turtle? This might sound like a very stupid question. However, this question had been disturbing mathematicians for many centuries. It is possible to solve the paradox of Achilles and the turtle with only high school knowledge. This is the beauty of calculus, the concept that mathematicians struggled to invent and improve. In more than 2000 years, mathematicians tried different ways to study and invent calculus, and the invention fnally led to a revolution in the world of math

Enhanced deep gated recurrent unit and complex wavelet packet energy moment entropy for early fault prognosis of bearing

    No full text
Early fault prognosis of bearing is a very meaningful yet challenging task to improve the security of rotating machinery. For this purpose, a novel method based on enhanced deep gated recurrent unit and complex wavelet packet energy moment entropy is proposed in this paper. First, complex wavelet packet energy moment entropy is defined as a new monitoring index to characterize bearing performance degradation. Second, deep gated recurrent unit network is constructed to capture the nonlinear mapping relationship hidden in the defined monitoring index. Finally, a modified training algorithm based on learning rate decay strategy is developed to enhance the prognosis capability of the constructed deep model. The proposed method is applied to analyze the simulated and experimental signals of bearing. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is more superior in sensibility and accuracy to the existing methods
