Flavor Asymmetry of Nucleon Sea from Detailed Balance

In this study, the proton is taken as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states. Using the principle of detailed balance, we find dˉ−uˉ≈0.124\bar{d}-\bar{u} \approx 0.124, which is in surprisingly agreement with the experimental observation.Comment: 4 pages and no figures. Rapid Tooling by Integrating Electroforming and Solid Freeform Fabrication Techniques

    Get PDF
This paper describes a rapid tooling process that integrates solid freeform fabrication (SFF) with electroforming to produce metal tools including molds, dies, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) electrodes. Based on experimental data analysis, the geometry and material of the SFF part, the properties of the electroformed metal, and the process parameters are significant factors that cause inaccuracy in the manufactured tools. Thermomechanical modeling and numerical simulation is used to determine the geometry of the SFF part and the electroform thickness for minimizing the manufacturing time and cost while satisfying the tooling accuracy requirement

Jointly Modeling Topics and Intents with Global Order Structure

Modeling document structure is of great importance for discourse analysis and related applications. The goal of this research is to capture the document intent structure by modeling documents as a mixture of topic words and rhetorical words. While the topics are relatively unchanged through one document, the rhetorical functions of sentences usually change following certain orders in discourse. We propose GMM-LDA, a topic modeling based Bayesian unsupervised model, to analyze the document intent structure cooperated with order information. Our model is flexible that has the ability to combine the annotations and do supervised learning. Additionally, entropic regularization can be introduced to model the significant divergence between topics and intents. We perform experiments in both unsupervised and supervised settings, results show the superiority of our model over several state-of-the-art baselines.Comment: Accepted by AAAI 201

Polymeric implant of methylprednisolone for spinal injury: preparation and characterization

    Get PDF
Purpose: To improve the effectiveness and reduce the systemic side effects of methylprednisolone in traumatic spinal injuries, its polymeric implants were prepared using chitosan and sodium alginate as the biocompatible polymers. Methods: Implants of methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS) were prepared by molding the drug-loaded polymeric mass obtained after ionotropic gelation method. The prepared implants were evaluated for drug loading, in vitro drug release and in vivo performance in traumatic spinal-injury rat model with paraplegia. Results: All the implant formulations were light pale solid matrix with smooth texture. Implants showed 86.56 ± 2.07 % drug loading. Drug release was 89.29 ± 1.25 % at the end of 7 days. Motor function was evaluated in traumatic spinal injury-induced rats in terms of its movement on the horizontal bar. At theend of 7 days, the test group showed the activity score (4.75 ± 0.02) slightly higher than that of standard (4.62 ± 0.25), but the difference was not statistically different (p > 0.05).Conclusion: MPSS-loaded implants produces good recovery in traumatic spinal injury rats. Keywords: Spinal injury, Spinal column, Methylprednisolone, Implant, Activity score, Motor functio

Stochastic method with low mode substitution for nucleon isovector matrix elements

    Get PDF
We introduce a stochastic sandwich method with low-mode substitution to evaluate the connected three-point functions. The isovector matrix elements of the nucleon for the axial-vector coupling gA3g_A^3, scalar couplings gS3g_S^3 and the quark momentum fraction ⟨x⟩u−d\langle x\rangle_{u -d} are calculated with overlap fermion on 2+1 flavor domain-wall configurations on a 243×6424^3 \times 64 lattice at mπ=330m_{\pi} = 330 MeV with lattice spacing a=0.114a = 0.114 fm.Comment: 15 pages, 13 figures, the version accepted by PR
