Ground-based CCD astrometry with wide field imagers. IV. An improved Geometric Distortion Correction for the Blue prime-focus Camera at the LBT
High precision astrometry requires an accurate geometric distortion solution.
In this work, we present an average correction for the Blue Camera of the Large
Binocular Telescope which enables a relative astrometric precision of ~15 mas
for the B_Bessel and V_Bessel broad-band filters. The result of this effort is
used in two companion papers: the first to measure the absolute proper motion
of the open cluster M67 with respect to the background galaxies; the second to
decontaminate the color-magnitude diagram of M67 from field objects, enabling
the study of the end of its white dwarf cooling sequence. Many other
applications might find this distortion correction useful.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, 4 tables. accepted for publication on Astronomy

Certain Expansion Formulae Involving a Basic Analogue of Fox’s H-Function
Certain expansion formulae for a basic analogue of the Fox’s H-function have been derived by the applications of the q-Leibniz rule for the Weyl type q-derivatives of a product of two functions. Expansion formulae involving a basic analogue of Meijer’s G-function and MacRobert’s E-function have been derived as special cases of the main results
FUZZY BASED CASCADED MULTILEVEL SHUNT ACTIVE POWER FILTER FOR POWER LINE CONDITIONERS
In this paper shunt active power filter is used to improve the power quality at distribution system. Due to nonlinear loads, current harmonics, unbalanced voltages and current and reactive power problems will be created in the network. The Instantaneous real power theory (IRPT) provides the real power calculation with PI controller will not provide accurate result and good performance under both steady state and transient state. Compensating above problems by using fuzzy based on Cascaded multi-level voltage source inverter. The inverter switching signals are generated based on the triangular sampling current controller provides power line conditioning. The Paper deals with three phase, five level cascaded multi level voltage source inverter based shunt active filter with PI and Fuzzy controller by using MATLAB/Simulink
Star-Cluster Astrometry with Ground-Based Wide Field Imagers
We show the astrometric potential of the Wide Field Imager at the focus of
the MPI-ESO 2.2m Telescope. Currently, we are able to measure the position of a
well-exposed star with a precision of 4 mas/frame in each coordinate
(under 0.8 arcsec seeing conditions). We present some preliminary results here.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, from "Astrometry in the Age of the Next

Phytotoxicity, cytotoxicity and genotoxicity evaluation of organic and inorganic pollutants rich tannery wastewater from a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Unnao district, India using Vigna radiata and Allium cepa
The leather industry is a major source of environmental pollution in India. The wastewater generated by leather industries contains very high pollution parameters due to the presence of a complex mixture of organic and inorganic pollutants even after the treatment at a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and disturbs the ecological flora and fauna. The nature, characteristics and toxicity of CETP treated wastewater is yet to be fully elucidated. Thus, this study aims to characterize and evaluate the toxicity of CETP treated tannery wastewater collected from the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, India. In addition to measuring the physico-chemical parameters, the residual organic pollutants was identified by GC-MS analysis and phytotoxicity, cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of the treated wastewater was evaluated using Vigna radiata L. and Allium cepa L. Results showed that the treated wastewater contained very high pollution parameters (TDS 3850mg/L, BOD 680mg/L, COD-1300mg/L). GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of various types of residual organic pollutants including benzoic acid, 3-[4,-(T-butyl) Phenyl] furan-2-5-dione, benzeneacetamide, resorcinol, dibutyl phthalate, and benzene-1,2,4-triol. Further, toxicological studies showed the phytotoxic nature of the wastewater as it inhibited seed germination in V. radiata L. and root growth of A. cepa. Genotoxicity was evidenced in the root tip cell of A. cepa where chromosomal aberrations (stickiness, chromosome loss, C-mitosis, and vagrant chromosome) and nuclear abnormalities like micronucleated and binucleated cells were observed. Thus, results suggested that it is not safe to discharge these wastewater into the environment

Effect of weed and nitrogen management on coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) yield and economics
Field experiments were carried out during rabi 2007–08 and 2008–09 to evaluate the effect of different weed management measures and nitrogen (N) application on yield and economics of coriander. Results revealed that two hand weedings (HW) at 20 and 40 days after sowing (DAS) produced the highest seed and straw yields (13.71 and 25.83 q ha-1). The highest net returns (Rs. 55841 ha-1) and B : C ratio (2.39) were also obtained under this treatment. However, it was found to be at par with pendimethalin at 1.0 kg ha-1 + HW at 40 DAS, wherein seed and straw yields of 13.61 and 25.57 q ha-1, respectively were obtained. The highest harvest index of 35.01% as well as the lowest mean weed index of 0.7%, were also observed under pendimethalin at 1.0 kg ha-1 + HW at 40 DAS. Results further revealed that application of N at 75 kg ha-1 significantly increased the seed yield to the extent of 11.9%, 32.7% and 84.3% and net returns by Rs. 7915, Rs. 18366 and Rs. 34536 ha-1 over 50, 25 kg N ha-1 and control, respectively. Correlation studies revealed that seed yield of coriander was significantly and positively correlated with growth and yield attributing characters and nutrient uptake by crop. Based on the response studies, 64.75 kg ha-1 was found to be the optimum level of N for coriander.

Stroke in sickle cell disease: case report
Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. It is characterized by polymerization of haemoglobin, erythrocyte stiffening, and subsequent vaso-occlusions. These can lead to microcirculation obstructions, tissue ischemia, infarction and acute stroke. Transient ischemic attack, Ischaemic stroke, haemorrhagic stroke, silent cerebral infarction, headache, Moyamoya disease, neuropathic pain, and neurocognitive impairment are neurological complications of sickle cell disease. Here we report a case of ischemic stroke in a patient of sickle cell disease. For early diagnosis and proper management of sickle cell disease neurological complications require specialised haematological and neurological expertise. The newly used medications under ongoing research will be the hope to overcome this devastating disease and its complications
