Establishment of a Spring Design Formula for Low Temperature Use of Spring
Normally the springs are designed for room temperature conditions and the equations of elasticity are used to correlate the spring parameters. However, when the spring are required for use at low temperatures, these equations do not hold fairly good for design purpose. In this paper the establishment of new formula, that can be used for designing the springs for use at low temperature conditions has been discussed. Tests have been carried out at 20 degree calcius and -40 degree calcius to check the reliability of this formula. The formula has given satisfactory results
BVRI CCD photometric standards in the field of GRB 990123
The CCD magnitudes in Johnson and Cousins photometric passbands are
determined for 18 stars in the field of GRB 990123. These measurements can be
used in carrying out precise CCD photometry of the optical transient of GRB
990123 using differential photometric techniques during non--photometric sky
conditions. A comparison with previous photometry indicates that the present

From solar-like to anti-solar differential rotation in cool stars
Stellar differential rotation can be separated into two main regimes:
solar-like when the equator rotates faster than the poles and anti-solar when
the polar regions rotate faster than the equator. We investigate the transition
between these two regimes with 3-D numerical simulations of rotating spherical
shells. We conduct a systematic parameter study which also includes models from
different research groups. We find that the direction of the differential
rotation is governed by the contribution of the Coriolis force in the force
balance, independently of the model setup (presence of a magnetic field,
thickness of the convective layer, density stratification). Rapidly-rotating
cases with a small Rossby number yield solar-like differential rotation, while
weakly-rotating models sustain anti-solar differential rotation. Close to the
transition, the two kinds of differential rotation are two possible bistable
states. This study provides theoretical support for the existence of anti-solar
differential rotation in cool stars with large Rossby numbers.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA
Mercury or Mercury Free Restorations in Oral Cavity
Amalgam is basically a concoction of metals that has been used as a potent filling material in dentistry for the last 150 years. Amalgam usually consists of silver, mercury, tin and copper. Dental amalgam is a material used to fill cavities of tooth. Over the years, amalgam has become a topic of concern because it contains mercury. Mercury is a naturally occurring metal in the environment. Mercury exists as a liquid in room temperature but when heated, it becomes a gas. Flexibility of amalgam as a filling material is due Mercury. An alloy powder, a compound that is soft in nature when mixed with mercury makes it enough to mix and condense into the tooth. It hardens quickly and offers strong resistance to the forces of biting and chewing. There are studies reported on the safety of amalgam fillings. In 2005, European Union launched a comprehensive mercury strategy to reduce use of mercury. In 2008, countries like Norway and Denmark restricted the use of dental amalgam containing mercury. In 2009, this research was evaluated by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and found no rationale to limit the use of amalgam. There are certain restorative materials that are available commercially that are mercury free in nature like Gold, Porcelain, Gallium alloys, Composite resin restoratives etc. They offer many advantages over amalgams containing mercury like: seals the dentin from future decay, reinforces remaining tooth structure, provides smooth and bonded margins, conservative and it blends naturally
