    Protective Effects of Vitamin E Analogs against Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Fatty Liver in Rats

    Recently, it has been reported that α-tocopherol (α-Toc) is effective for amelioration of liver damage. However, it is unknown whether other vitamin E analogs are effective. In this study, we investigated the effects of γ-tocopherol (γ-Toc) and tocotrienols (T3) in rats with fatty liver. Rats fed a vitamin E-deficient diet for four weeks were divided into eight groups: Control, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), α-Toc, α-Toc + CCl4, γ-Toc, γ-Toc + CCl4, T3 mix, T3 mix + CCl4. After a 24 h fast, the rats were administered 20 mg of each of the vitamin E analogs, respectively. Moreover, the CCl4 group were given 0.5 ml/kg body weight corn oil preparation containing CCl4 6 h after vitamin E administration. We measured the activities of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in plasma, and the contents of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (T-Chol) and vitamin E analogs in the liver. Also, we determined the hepatic expression of mRNA for inflammatory cytokines. The liver TG content in the γ-Toc + CCl4 and T3 mix + CCl4 groups was decreased in comparison with the CCl4 group. Moreover, ALT activity in the T3 mix + CCl4 group was significantly lower than CCl4 group. These findings suggest that γ-Toc and T3 are effective for amelioration of fatty liver

    Piezoelectric Disk Gyroscope Fabricated With Single-Crystal Lithium Niobate

    A piezoelectric disk gyroscope fabricated with a single-crystal lithium niobate (LN) wafer has been developed for inertial navigation systems for localization during automated driving. LN has a high electromechanical coupling coefficient and a resonator made of a low-cost single-crystal wafer shows a high quality factor, which is suitable for high-performance vibratory gyroscopes. In this study, its crystallographic anisotropies in both in elastic and piezoelectric properties were considered to realize mode matching in the two-wine-glass-mode vibration of a disk resonator. We chose a 155°-Y-cut LN wafer because we found that its elastic compliance is uniform in any in-plane direction. Its anisotropic piezoelectric properties were considered to optimize the electrode design to oscillate the wine-glass modes efficiently. A 25.8-mm-diameter, 330- μm-thick disk resonator with 16 electrodes on each side was designed and fabricated by photolithography and grinding. The as-fabricated LN disk resonator was successfully oscillated in two wine-glass modes with a small frequency split of 0.7% at 95 kHz resonant frequency. Gyroscope operation was successful and the scale factor was 0.35 μV/°/s without any preamplifier

    Síndrome de burnout y estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés en el profesional de enfermería que labora en el área Covid del hospital II Cañete Essalud – 2021

    Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el síndrome de Burnout y las Estrategias de Afrontamiento al Estrés en el profesional de enfermería que labora en el área Covid del Hospital II Cañete EsSalud – 2021. Método: Estudio de tipo aplicado, enfoque cuantitativo, nivel correlacional, diseño no experimental y corte transversal; aplicado en 32 profesionales de enfermería que prestan cuidados a los pacientes del área COVID-19 del Hospital II Cañete EsSalud a quienes se les aplicará como instrumentos el Inventario Burnout de Maslach MBI y el cuestionario sobre Estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés. Resultados: El 46.88% (15) tiene el Síndrome de Burnout en un nivel medio, el 28.13% (9) en un nivel bajo y el 25% (8) en un nivel alto. Respecto a las dimensiones, el 80% de enfermeras no aplican estrategias de afrontamiento adecuadas para el síndrome de Burnout; el 40.6% (13) tiene en un nivel alto de agotamiento emocional; el 43.8% tiene una alta realización personal y el 31.3% en un nivel bajo. Se halló relación significativa entre el Síndrome de Burnout y las Estrategias de Afrontamiento al Estrés (p=0.017); Así mismo, relación entre las estrategias de afrontamiento y la dimensión agotamiento emocional (p=0,007); sin embargo, no se halló relación con las dimensiones despersonalización (p=0.343) ni realización personal (p=0.487). Conclusiones: Se halló relación significativa entre el Síndrome de Burnout y las Estrategias de Afrontamiento al Estrés en el profesional de enfermería que labora en el área COVID-19 del Hospital II Cañete EsSalud – 2021

    IMMUNOMODULATOR ACTIVITY OF MANGIFERIN FROM MANGO (MANGIFERA INDICA L.) IN CANCER: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

    Cancer is a disease that is causing an increase in mortality all over the world. Cancer treatment is expensive and has a variety of side effects. Natural compound treatment is an attempt to reduce the side effects of cancer therapy. Mangiferin is a natural compound with anticancer and immunomodulatory activity. The immunomodulatory activity of mangiferin from mango (Mangifera indica L.) in cancer was discussed in this article. The literature used in this review was obtained from several databases, including the Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and the Wiley Online Library, for articles published over the last ten years. Mangiferin influenced anticancer activity by inhibiting NF-κB, affects the regulation of -catenin, EMT, MMP2, MMP9, LDH, NO, ROS, and inhibits classical macrophages activation. Mangiferin has an immunomodulatory effect that can be developed as a candidate drug for anticancer therapy

    Semiconductor manufacturing in the current world is more competitive than ever/ is extremely competitive. Due to a short market life-span and high uncertainty in future demand, Supply chain management is a competitive advantage which plays an important role in today`s global semiconductor industry. A very important consequence of uncertain demand and having long lead time is the great risk of incurring shortages and excessive inventory. This paper con-siders the view of the second tier semiconductor supplier in automotive industries and studies, using the periodic review analysis, a single item single stage inventory system with sto-chastic demand. The values of s (reorder point) and Q (order quantity) are the two decisions required to implement the policy. The lead time is assumed known and constant. The only uncertainty is associated with demand. Assuming hold-ing, production, salvage and backorder costs, we determine the optimal numerical value of the level s (reorder point) using a simulation approach, and thus define the optimal inventory policy to minimize the total expected inventory cost while being able to achieve the desired customer service levels
