Hamiltonian Analysis of Non-Linear Sigma Model on Supercoset Target
This paper is devoted to the study of the Hamiltonian formulation of
non-linear sigma models on supercoset targets. We calculate the Poisson
brackets of left-invariant currents. Then we introduce the Hamiltonian of the
system and determine the equations of motion for left-invariant currents. We
also determine the charge corresponding to the invariance of the action under
global left multiplication.Comment: 17. pages,v2: references added, v3: references added, minor

Conserved Charges in the Principal Chiral Model on a Supergroup
The classical principal chiral model in 1+1 dimensions with target space a
compact Lie supergroup is investigated. It is shown how to construct a local
conserved charge given an invariant tensor of the Lie superalgebra. We
calculate the super-Poisson brackets of these currents and argue that they are
finitely generated. We show how to derive an infinite number of local charges
in involution. We demonstrate that these charges Poisson commute with the
non-local charges of the model
Model Flames in the Boussinesq Limit: The Effects of Feedback
We have studied the fully nonlinear behavior of pre-mixed flames in a
gravitationally stratified medium, subject to the Boussinesq approximation. Key
results include the establishment of criterion for when such flames propagate
as simple planar flames; elucidation of scaling laws for the effective flame
speed; and a study of the stability properties of these flames. The simplicity
of some of our scalings results suggests that analytical work may further
advance our understandings of buoyant flames.Comment: 11 pages, 14 figures, RevTex, gzipped tar fil
Superconducting Properties of MgCNi3 Films
We report the magnetotransport properties of thin polycrystalline films of
the recently discovered non-oxide perovskite superconductor MgCNi3. CNi3
precursor films were deposited onto sapphire substrates and subsequently
exposed to Mg vapor at 700 C. We report transition temperatures (Tc) and
critical field values (Hc2) of MgCNi3 films ranging in thickness from 7.5 nm to
100 nm. Films thicker than ~40 nm have a Tc ~ 8 K, and an upper critical field
Hc2 ~ 14 T, which are both comparable to that of polycrystalline powders. Hall
measurements in the normal state give a carrier density, n =-4.2 x 10^22 cm^-3,
that is approximately 4 times that reported for bulk samples.Comment: submitted to PR
Probing The Electronic Structure Of Pure And Doped Cem In5 (m=co,rh,ir) Crystals With Nuclear Quadrupolar Resonance
We report calculations of the electric-field gradients (EFGs) in pure and doped CeM In5 (M=Co, Rh, and Ir) compounds and compare with experiment. The degree to which the Ce4f electron is localized is treated within various models: the local-density approximation, generalized gradient approximation (GGA), GGA+U, and 4f -core approaches. We find that there is a correlation between the observed EFG and whether the 4f electron participates in the band formation or not. We also find that the EFG evolves linearly with Sn doping in CeRhIn5, suggesting the electronic structure is modified by doping. In contrast, the observed EFG in CeCoIn5 doped with Cd changes little with doping. These results indicate that nuclear quadrupolar resonance is a sensitive probe of electronic structure. © 2008 The American Physical Society.7724Slichter, C.P., (1990) Principles of Magnetic Resonance, , 3rd ed. Once again about quantum deformations of D=4 Lorentz algebra: twistings of q-deformation
This paper together with the previous one (arXiv:hep-th/0604146) presents the
detailed description of all quantum deformations of D=4 Lorentz algebra as Hopf
algebra in terms of complex and real generators. We describe here in detail two
quantum deformations of the D=4 Lorentz algebra o(3,1) obtained by twisting of
the standard q-deformation U_{q}(o(3,1)). For the first twisted q-deformation
an Abelian twist depending on Cartan generators of o(3,1) is used. The second
example of twisting provides a quantum deformation of Cremmer-Gervais type for
the Lorentz algebra. For completeness we describe also twisting of the Lorentz
algebra by standard Jordanian twist. By twist quantization techniques we obtain
for these deformations new explicit formulae for the deformed coproducts and
antipodes of the o(3,1)-generators.Comment: 17 page
Quantum Griffiths effects and smeared phase transitions in metals: theory and experiment
In this paper, we review theoretical and experimental research on rare region
effects at quantum phase transitions in disordered itinerant electron systems.
After summarizing a few basic concepts about phase transitions in the presence
of quenched randomness, we introduce the idea of rare regions and discuss their
importance. We then analyze in detail the different phenomena that can arise at
magnetic quantum phase transitions in disordered metals, including quantum
Griffiths singularities, smeared phase transitions, and cluster-glass
formation. For each scenario, we discuss the resulting phase diagram and
summarize the behavior of various observables. We then review several recent
experiments that provide examples of these rare region phenomena. We conclude
by discussing limitations of current approaches and open questions.Comment: 31 pages, 7 eps figures included, v2: discussion of the dissipative

Baryonic Response of Dense Holographic QCD
The response function of a homogeneous and dense hadronic system to a
time-dependent (baryon) vector potential is discussed for holographic dense QCD
(D4/D8 embedding) both in the confined and deconfined phases. Confined
holographic QCD is an uncompressible and static baryonic insulator at large N_c
and large \lambda, with a gapped vector spectrum and a massless pion.
Deconfined holographic QCD is a diffusive conductor with restored chiral
symmetry and a gapped transverse baryonic current. Similarly, dense D3/D7 is
diffusive for any non-zero temperature at large N_c and large \lambda. At zero
temperature dense D3/D7 exhibits a baryonic longitudinal visco-elastic mode
with a first sound speed \lambda/\sqrt{3} and a small width due to a shear
viscosity to baryon ratio \eta/n_B=\hbar/4. This mode is turned diffusive by
arbitrarily small temperatures, a hallmark of holography.Comment: V2: 47 pages, 7 figures, references added, typos correcte
Smeared phase transition in a three-dimensional Ising model with planar defects: Monte-Carlo simulations
We present results of large-scale Monte Carlo simulations for a
three-dimensional Ising model with short range interactions and planar defects,
i.e., disorder perfectly correlated in two dimensions. We show that the phase
transition in this system is smeared, i.e., there is no single critical
temperature, but different parts of the system order at different temperatures.
This is caused by effects similar to but stronger than Griffiths phenomena. In
an infinite-size sample there is an exponentially small but finite probability
to find an arbitrary large region devoid of impurities. Such a rare region can
develop true long-range order while the bulk system is still in the disordered
phase. We compute the thermodynamic magnetization and its finite-size effects,
the local magnetization, and the probability distribution of the ordering
temperatures for different samples. Our Monte-Carlo results are in good
agreement with a recent theory based on extremal statistics.Comment: 9 pages, 6 eps figures, final version as publishe
