A Soil Model Considering Principal Stress Rotations
This paper presents an elastoplastic soil model considering the principal stress rotation (PSR). The model is developed on the basis of a well-established kinematic hardening soil model using the bounding surface concept. The significance of including the PSR in soil models is presented through comparing the predictions using the new and original models. The model can consider the PSRs under multiple directions, and features relatively simple formulations and easy numerical implementations. Model predictions are compared with different experimental results and verified. Simulations of multiple dimensional PSRs are also studied
On electromagnetic interactions for massive mixed symmetry field
In this paper we investigate electromagnetic interactions for simplest
massive mixed symmetry field. Using frame-like gauge invariant formulation we
extend Fradkin-Vasiliev procedure, initially proposed for investigation of
gravitational interactions for massless particles in AdS space, to the case of
electromagnetic interactions for massive particles leaving in (A)dS space with
arbitrary value of cosmological constant including flat Minkowski space. At
first, as an illustration of general procedure, we re-derive our previous
results on massive spin 2 electromagnetic interactions and then we apply this
procedure to massive mixed symmetry field. These two cases are just the
simplest representatives of two general class of fields, namely completely
symmetric and mixed symmetry ones, and it is clear that the results obtained
admit straightforward generalization to higher spins as well.Comment: 17 pages. Some clarifications added. Version to appear in JHE
Compare HIV/syphilis infections between age groups and explore associated factors of HIV/ syphilis co-infections among men who have sex with men in Shenzhen, China, from 2009 to 2017
The aim of this study is to assess the HIV/syphilis epidemic among men who have sex with men (MSM) aged <50 years and ≥ 50 years in Shenzhen, and explore the associated factors of HIV/syphilis co-infections among MSM in Shenzhen, in order to help prevention and intervention programs determine their target sub-group. A serial cross-sectional study was conducted on MSM in Shenzhen city, China from 2009 to 2017. A questionnaire was used to collect demographic characteristics, history of HIV testing, history of blood donation and sexual behaviors. 5 ml of venous blood were collected for syphilis and HIV tests. The overall prevalence of HIV, syphilis, HIV/syphilis co-infection was 9.40%, 18.97%, and 4.91%, respectively. The prevalence of HIV (15.26%), syphilis (27.71%), HIV/syphilis co-infection (9.24%) in aged ≥ 50 years MSM was significantly higher than aged <50 years MSM (9.15%, 18.59% and 4.72%, respectively). The following factors were found to be significantly associated with HIV/syphilis co-infections (P<0.05): age≥50 years (OR = 1.78, 95% CI = 1.10–2.87), high school or lower (OR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.10–2.01), monthly income ≤436.2 USD (OR = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.25–2.42), monthly income 436.4–727.2 USD (OR = 1.46, 95% CI = 1.05–2.03), ≥2 anal sex partners in the past 6 months (OR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.02–2.49), ≥2 oral sex partners in the past 6 months (OR = 1.60, 95% CI = 1.08–2.36), inconsistent condom use during anal sex in the past 6 months (OR = 1.50, 95% CI = 1.11–2.03). We found that aged <50 years and ≥50 years MSM in Shenzhen had a high prevalence of HIV/syphilis infection in a period from 2009 to 2017. Age-specific sexually transmitted diseases education, prevention, and intervention programs for aged ≥50 years MSM should be implemented urgently and integrated interventions of both HIV and syphilis infections on MSM are needed in the future
Genetic diversity among natural populations of Ottelia acuminata (Gaghep.) Dandy revealed by ISSR
Ottelia acuminata (Gagnep.) Dandy, an aquatic species of the Hydrocharitaceae, is endemic to China. A performance comparison of genetic diversity of 4 natural populations was conducted to investigatewhether or not water pollution in their habitats has anything to do with this species being endangered. A total number of 120 O. acuminate accessions were analyzed, by amplification of their DNAs with 15 primers (ISSR). Thirteen primers were scored and 214 bands were detected, of which 170 werepolymorphic (79.44%). The results showed that the genetic indices in polluted Jian Lake group were always the smallest ones, when compared with those of the other groups. It indicated that the polluted water did affect the genetic diversity of O. acuminate populations. And ISSRs seemed to be effectivetools for detecting genetic variation among O. acuminate geographical groups
Spin 3 cubic vertices in a frame-like formalism
Till now most of the results on interaction vertices for massless higher spin
fields were obtained in a metric-like formalism using completely symmetric
(spin-)tensors. In this, the Lagrangians turn out to be very complicated and
the main reason is that the higher the spin one want to consider the more
derivatives one has to introduce. In this paper we show that such
investigations can be greatly simplified if one works in a frame-like
formalism. As an illustration we consider massless spin 3 particle and
reconstruct a number of vertices describing its interactions with lower spin 2,
1 and 0 ones. In all cases considered we give explicit expressions for the
Lagrangians and gauge transformations and check that the algebra of gauge
transformations is indeed closed.Comment: 17 pades, no figure

Investment in carbon dioxide capture and storage combined with enhanced water recovery
Carbon dioxide capture and storage combined with enhanced deep saline water recovery (CCS-EWR) is a potential approach to mitigate climate change. However, its investment has been a dilemma due to high costs and various uncertainties. In this study, a trinomial tree modelling-based real options approach is constructed to assess the investment in CCS-EWR retrofitting for direct coal liquefaction in China from the investor perspective. In this approach, the uncertainties in CO2 prices, capital subsidies, water resource fees, the residual lifetime of direct coal liquefaction plants, electricity prices, CO2 and freshwater transport distance, and the amount of certified emission reductions (CERs) are considered. The results show that the critical CER price for CCS-EWR retrofits is 7.15 Chinese yuan per ton (CNY/ton) higher than that (141.95 CNY/ton) for CCS retrofits. However, the exemption from water resource fees for freshwater recovered from saline water and a subsidy of 26% of the capital cost are sufficient to eliminate the negative impact of enhanced deep saline water recovery (EWR) on the investment economy of CCS-EWR. In addition, when the residual lifetime is less than 14 years, CCS-EWR projects are still unable to achieve profitability, even with flexible management and decision making; therefore, investors should abandon CCS-EWR investments. On the whole, the investment feasibility for CCS-EWR technology is not optimistic despite access to preferential policies from the government. It is necessary to establish a carbon market with a high and stable CER price
