Effect of Pin Diameters on the Wear Characteristics of Friction Pairs
The tribological tests are carried out to assess the effect of pin diameters on wear characteristics via changing contact stresses and sliding speeds to provide support for choosing friction pair sizes. The friction couple is set as CuZn pins for medium carbon steel (No. 1045 steel) rings. The differential wear rate and its calculation formula are defined to express the line wear rate or the wear resistance of unit cross-section area. The effect of the pin end surface diameter on differential wear rate and its scale/increased multiplier are investigated. When the product (P×V=0.095) is kept constant, the abrasion loss for the specimens of a small diameter (d1=0.6 mm) is lesser than that of the specimens of a large diameter (d2=4.0 mm). As compared to the sliding speed, the change in contact stresses exerts a greater influence on the wear behavior, especially for small-diameter specimens. The differential wear rate of small-diameter specimens is always higher than that of the specimens of a large diameter. The scale multiplier of the differential wear rate is always larger than that of the contact pressure stress, especially for small-diameter specimens.
Crossing w=-1 in Gauss-Bonnet Brane World with Induced Gravity
Recent type Ia supernovas data seemingly favor a dark energy model whose
equation of state crosses -1 very recently, which is a much more amazing
problem than the acceleration of the universe. In this paper we show that it is
possible to realize such a crossing without introducing any phantom component
in a Gauss-Bonnet brane world with induced gravity, where a four dimensional
curvature scalar on the brane and a five dimensional Gauss-Bonnet term in the
bulk are present. In this realization, the Gauss-Bonnet term and the mass
parameter in the bulk play a crucial role.Comment: Revtex 16 pages including 10 eps files, references added, to appear

A Lorentz Invariance Violating Cosmology on the DGP Brane
We study cosmological implications of a Lorentz invariance violating
DGP-inspired braneworld scenario. A minimally coupled scalar field and a
single, fixed-norm, Lorentz-violating timelike vector field within an
interactive picture provide a wide parameter space which accounts for late-time
acceleration and transition to phantom phase of the scalar field.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figures, accepted for publication in JCA
Multiple sources of infection and potential endemic characteristics of the large outbreak of dengue in Guangdong in 2014
A large outbreak of dengue, with the most documented cases, occurred in Guangdong China in 2014. Epidemiological studies and phylogenetic analysis of the isolated dengue virus (DENV) showed this outbreak was attributed to multiple sources and caused by at least two genotypes of DENV-1 (Genotypes I and III) and two genotypes of DENV-2 (Cosmopolitan and Asian I Genotypes). A retrospective review and phylogenetic analysis of DENV isolated in Guangdong showed that DENV-1 Genotype I strains were reported continuously during 2004-2014, Genotype III strains were reported during 2009-2014 ; DENV-2 Cosmopolitan and Asian I Genotype strains were reported continuously during 2012-2014. At least 45,171 cases were reported in this outbreak, with 65.9% of the patients in the 21-55-year-old group. A trend toward a decrease in the daily newly emerged cases lagged by approximately 20 days compared with the mosquito density curve. Several epidemiological characteristics of this outbreak and the stably sustained serotypes and genotypes of DENV isolated in Guangdong suggest that Guangdong has been facing a threat of transforming from a dengue epidemic area to an endemic area. The high temperature, drenching rain, rapid urbanization, and pandemic of dengue in Southeast Asia may have contributed to this large outbreak of dengue
Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation:A Scientific Statement of JACC: Asia (Part 2)
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with substantial increases in the risk for stroke and systemic thromboembolism. With the successful introduction of the first non-vitamin K antagonistdirect oral anticoagulant agent (NOAC) in 2009, the role of vitamin K antagonists has been replaced in most clinical settings except in a few conditions for which NOACs are contraindicated. Data for the use of NOACs in different clinical scenarios have been accumulating in the past decade, and a more sophisticated strategy for patients with AF is now warranted. JACC: Asia recently appointed a working group to summarize the most updated information regarding stroke prevention in AF. The aim of this statement is to provide possible treatment options in daily practice. Local availability, cost, and patient comorbidities should also be considered. Final decisions may still need to be individualized and based on clinicians’ discretion. This is part 2 of the statement

Spin Fidelity for Three-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W States Under Lorentz Transformations
Constructing the reduced density matrix for a system of three massive
spin particles described by a wave packet with Gaussian momentum
distribution and a spin part in the form of GHZ or W state, the fidelity for
the spin part of the system is investigated from the viewpoint of moving
observers in the jargon of special relativity. Using a numerical approach, it
turns out that by increasing the boost speed, the spin fidelity decreases and
reaches to a non-zero asymptotic value that depends on the momentum
distribution and the amount of momentum entanglement.Comment: 12pages, 2 figure
Mortality associated with the use of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in cancer patients:Dabigatran versus rivaroxaban
Abstract Objective This study assesses the mortality outcomes of non‐vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) in cancer patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) and atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods Medical records of cancer patients receiving NOACs for VTE or AF between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2016, were retrieved from Taiwan's National Health Institute Research Database. NOACs were compared using the inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) method. The primary outcome was cancer‐related death. Secondary outcomes were all‐cause mortality, major bleeding, and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Results Among 202,754 patients who received anticoagulants, 3591 patients (dabigatran: 907; rivaroxaban: 2684) with active cancers were studied. Patients who received dabigatran were associated with lower risks of cancer‐related death at one year (HR = 0.71, 95% CI = 0.54–0.93) and at the end of follow‐ups (HR = 0.79, 95% CI = 0.64–0.98) compared with rivaroxaban. Patients who received dabigatran were also associated with lower risks of all‐cause mortality (HR = 0.81, 95% CI = 0.67–0.97), major bleeding (HR = 0.64, 95% CI = 0.47–0.88), and GI bleeding (HR = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.39–0.84) at the end of follow‐ups compared with rivaroxaban. Conclusion Compared with rivaroxaban, the use of dabigatran may be associated with a lower risk of cancer‐related death and all‐cause mortality
The accelerated scaling attractor solution of the interacting agegraphic dark energy in Brans-Dicke theory
We investigate the interacting agegraphic dark energy in Brans-Dicke theory
and introduce a new series general forms of dark sector coupling. As examples,
we select three cases involving a linear interaction form (Model I) and two
nonlinear interaction form (Model II and Model III). Our conclusions show that
the accelerated scaling attractor solutions do exist in these models. We also
find that these interacting agegraphic dark energy modes are consistent with
the observational data. The difference in these models is that nonlinear
interaction forms give more approached evolution to the standard CDM
model than the linear one. Our work implies that the nonlinear interaction
forms should be payed more attention.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures, accepted in Eur. Phys. J.
Statefinder diagnostic and stability of modified gravity consistent with holographic and new agegraphic dark energy
Recently one of us derived the action of modified gravity consistent with the
holographic and new-agegraphic dark energy. In this paper, we investigate the
stability of the Lagrangians of the modified gravity as discussed in [M. R.
Setare, Int. J. Mod. Phys. D 17 (2008) 2219; M. R. Setare, Astrophys. Space
Sci. 326 (2010) 27]. We also calculate the statefinder parameters which
classify our dark energy model.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, accepted by Gen. Relativ. Gravi
