Open-closed field algebras
We introduce the notions of open-closed field algebra and open-closed field
algebra over a vertex operator algebra V. In the case that V satisfies certain
finiteness and reductivity conditions, we show that an open-closed field
algebra over V canonically gives an algebra over a \C-extension of the
Swiss-cheese partial operad. We also give a tensor categorical formulation and
categorical constructions of open-closed field algebras over V.Comment: 55 pages, largely revised, an old subsection is deleted, a few

On the validity of the solution of string field theory
We analyze the realm of validity of the recently found tachyon solution of
cubic string field theory. We find that the equation of motion holds in a non
trivial way when this solution is contracted with itself. This calculation is
needed to conclude the proof of Sen's first conjecture. We also find that the
equation of motion holds when the tachyon or gauge solutions are contracted
among themselves.Comment: JHEP style, 9+1 pages. Typos correcte
Schnabl's L_0 Operator in the Continuous Basis
Following Schnabl's analytic solution to string field theory, we calculate
the operators for a scalar field in the
continuous basis. We find an explicit and simple expression for them
that further simplifies for their sum, which is block diagonal in this basis.
We generalize this result for the bosonized ghost sector, verify their
commutation relation and relate our expressions to wedge state representations.Comment: 1+16 pages. JHEP style. Typos correcte
Vortex phase transformations probed by the local ac response of Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8+\delta} single crystals with various doping
The linear ac response of the vortex system is measured locally in Bi-2212
single crystals at various doping, using a miniature two-coil mutual-inductance
technique. It was found that a step-like change in the local ac response takes
place exactly at the first-order transition (FOT) temperature T_{FOT}(H)
determined by a global dc magnetization measurement. The T_{FOT}(H) line in the
H-T phase diagram becomes steeper with increasing doping. In the higher-field
region where the FOT is not observed, the local ac response still shows a
broadened but distinct feature, which can be interpreted to mark the growth of
a short-range order in the vortex system.Comment: 4 pages, including 5 eps figure
Exceptional quantum subgroups for the rank two Lie algebras B2 and G2
Exceptional modular invariants for the Lie algebras B2 (at levels 2,3,7,12)
and G2 (at levels 3,4) can be obtained from conformal embeddings. We determine
the associated alge bras of quantum symmetries and discover or recover, as a
by-product, the graphs describing exceptional quantum subgroups of type B2 or
G2 which encode their module structure over the associated fusion category.
Global dimensions are given.Comment: 33 pages, 27 color figure
