Electric signature of magnetic domain-wall dynamics

We study current-induced domain-wall dynamics in a thin ferromagnetic nanowire. The domain-wall dynamics is described by simple equations with four parameters. We propose the procedure to determine these parameters by all-electric measurements of the time-dependent voltage induced by the domain-wall motion. We provide an analytical expression for the time variation of this voltage. Furthermore, we show that the measurement of the proposed effects is within reach with current experimental techniques.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, update to published versio

Minimization of Ohmic losses for domain wall motion in a ferromagnetic nanowire

We study current-induced domain-wall motion in a narrow ferromagnetic wire. We propose a way to move domain walls with a resonant time-dependent current which dramatically decreases the Ohmic losses in the wire and allows to drive the domain wall with higher speed without burning the wire. For any domain wall velocity we find the time-dependence of the current needed to minimize the Ohmic losses. Below a critical domain-wall velocity specified by the parameters of the wire the minimal Ohmic losses are achieved by dc current. Furthermore, we identify the wire parameters for which the losses reduction from its dc value is the most dramatic.Comment: 4 pages (+ 4 pages of supplementary material), 4 figure

Matching model of flow table for networked big data

Networking for big data has to be intelligent because it will adjust data transmission requirements adaptively during data splitting and merging. Software-defined networking (SDN) provides a workable and practical paradigm for designing more efficient and flexible networks. Matching strategy in the flow table of SDN switches is most crucial. In this paper, we use a classification approach to analyze the structure of packets based on the tuple-space lookup mechanism, and propose a matching model of the flow table in SDN switches by classifying packets based on a set of fields, which is called an F-OpenFlow. The experiment results show that the proposed F-OpenFlow effectively improves the utilization rate and matching efficiency of the flow table in SDN switches for networked big data.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figures, 2 table

Synthesis of monodispersed Ag-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles via surface modification

© 2016 by the authors.Monodispersed spherical Ag-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles (Ag-BGNs) were synthesized by a modified Stöber method combined with surface modification. The surface modification was carried out at 25, 60, and 80 °C, respectively, to investigate the influence of processing temperature on particle properties. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results indicated that higher temperatures facilitate the incorporation of Ag. Hydroxyapatite (HA) formation on Ag-BGNs was detected upon immersion of the particles in simulated body fluid for 7 days, which indicated that Ag-BGNs maintained high bioactivity after surface modification. The conducted antibacterial assay confirmed that Ag-BGNs had an antibacterial effect on E. coli. The above results thereby suggest that surface modification is an effective way to incorporate Ag into BGNs and that the modified BGNs can remain monodispersed as well as exhibit bioactivity and antibacterial capability for biomedical applications

Linear Superiorization for Infeasible Linear Programming

Linear superiorization (abbreviated: LinSup) considers linear programming (LP) problems wherein the constraints as well as the objective function are linear. It allows to steer the iterates of a feasibility-seeking iterative process toward feasible points that have lower (not necessarily minimal) values of the objective function than points that would have been reached by the same feasiblity-seeking iterative process without superiorization. Using a feasibility-seeking iterative process that converges even if the linear feasible set is empty, LinSup generates an iterative sequence that converges to a point that minimizes a proximity function which measures the linear constraints violation. In addition, due to LinSup's repeated objective function reduction steps such a point will most probably have a reduced objective function value. We present an exploratory experimental result that illustrates the behavior of LinSup on an infeasible LP problem.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1612.0653

Supraglottic airway devices have been used as safe alternatives to endotracheal intubation in appropriate types of surgery. This was a prospective, randomised, single blind study comparing the use of LMA™ and SLIPA™ in terms of ease of insertion, haemodynamic changes and occurrence of adverse effects (e.g. blood stains on the device upon removal and sore throat). A total of 62 ASA I or II patients, aged between 18 to 70 years were recruited for this study. Patients were randomised into two groups; LMA™ and SLIPA™ group. Following induction of anaesthesia, an appropriate sized LMA™ or SLIPA™ was inserted after ensuring adequate depth of anaesthesia. Anaesthesia was maintained with oxygen, nitrous oxide and sevoflurane. The ease of insertion was graded and haemodynamic changes were recorded at 2 minute intervals up to 10 minutes after insertion of the airway devices. The presence of blood stains upon airway device removal at the end of surgery and incidence of sore throat was also recorded. No difficult insertion was experienced in either of these devices. Insertion was either easy [LMA™ 87.1% versus SLIPA™ 80.6% (p = 0.49)] or moderate [LMA™ 12.9% versus SLIPA™ 19.4% (p = 0.16)]. Throughout the study period, the haemodynamic changes that occurred in both groups were not statistically different. Traces of blood were noted on the surface of the device in 9.7% of patients in the SLIPA™ group versus 6.5% of patients in the LMA™ group. The incidence of sore throat was recorded in 12.9% versus 19.4% of patients in the SLIPA™ and the LMA™ groups respectively. These findings were not statistically significant. In conclusion, this study showed no significant differences between the use of LMA™ and SLIPA™ in terms of ease of insertion, haemodynamic changes and adverse effects in patients undergoing minor surgical procedures

: Children's moral behavior is influenced by formal and non-formal education. The system of education is also influenced by educational policy. Formulation, implementation of educational policy needs to be evaluated for being appropriate to the objective of education. This research aimed to find out the implementation of educational policy, which included: 1) Program of family education, 2) Implementation of educational policy, and 3) Educational obstacles for improving children's moral behavior in Aceh Tengah District. The research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interview, documentation and observation. The subjects of research were Head of Education Ministry in Aceh Tengah District and society figure. From the research results, it was found that there was no one of government policy which was established into regional government regulations (qanun) about children's moral education, and many family education programs were still run based on parents experience by generation to generation. For children's moral education out of school time, a regional government issued appeals of reading Al Quran after magrib and activating communal Quran reading. The obstacles of family education in Aceh Tengah were that unequal parental education and weak economy so that children's development was given over to education institutions. There were no programmed, detailed socialization and society mapping, and the role of society in educating a generation had already been decreased since it was oriented materials. It is recommended that a program of family education about children's moral should be formulated to be a regional policy by involving all stakeholders
