A Model of Strongly Correlated Electrons with Condensed Resonating-Valence-Bond Ground States
We propose a new exactly solvable model of strongly correlated electrons. The
model is based on a - model of the CuO plane with infinitely large
repulsive interactions on Cu-sites, and it contains additional
correlated-hopping, pair-hopping and charge-charge interactions of electrons.
For even numbers of electrons less than or equal to 2/3-filling, we construct
the exact ground states of the model, all of which have the same energy and
each of which is the unique ground state for a fixed electron number. It is
shown that these ground states are the resonating-valence-bond states which are
also regarded as condensed states in which all electrons are in a single
two-electron state. We also show that the ground states exhibit off-diagonal

Exact evidence for the spontaneous antiferromagnetic long-range order in the two-dimensional hybrid model of localized Ising spins and itinerant electrons
The generalized decoration-iteration transformation is adopted to treat
exactly a hybrid model of doubly decorated two-dimensional lattices, which have
localized Ising spins at their nodal lattice sites and itinerant electrons
delocalized over pairs of decorating sites. Under the assumption of a half
filling of each couple of the decorating sites, the investigated model system
exhibits a remarkable spontaneous antiferromagnetic long-range order with an
obvious quantum reduction of the staggered magnetization. It is shown that the
critical temperature of the spontaneously long-range ordered quantum
antiferromagnet displays an outstanding non-monotonic dependence on a ratio
between the kinetic term and the Ising-type exchange interaction.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
Size Segregation and Convection of Granular Mixtures Almost Completely Packed in the Rotating Thin Box
Size segregation of granular mixtures which are almost completely packed in a
rotating drum is discussed with an effective simulation and a brief analysis.
Instead of a 3D drum, we simulate 2D rotating thin box which is almost
completely packed with granular mixtures. The phase inversion of radially
segregated pattern which was found in a 3D experiment are qualitatively
reproduced with this simulation, and a brief analysis is followed. Moreover in
our simulation, a global convection appears after radial segregation pattern is

Liquid-Solid Phase Transition of the System with Two particles in a Rectangular Box
We study the statistical properties of two hard spheres in a two dimensional
rectangular box. In this system, the relation like Van der Waals equation loop
is obtained between the width of the box and the pressure working on side
walls. The auto-correlation function of each particle's position is calculated
numerically. By this calculation near the critical width, the time at which the
correlation become zero gets longer according to the increase of the height of
the box. Moreover, fast and slow relaxation processes like and
relaxations observed in supper cooled liquid are observed when the height of
the box is sufficiently large. These relaxation processes are discussed with
the probability distribution of relative position of two particles.Comment: 6 figure
Streptococcus faecalis sex pheromone (cAD1) response: Evidence that the peptide inhibitor excreted by pAD1-containing cells may be plasmid determined
Streptococcus faecalis strains harboring the conjugative plasmid pAD1 excrete a small peptide, iAD1, which inhibits the sex pheromone cAD1. Influences of Excluded Volume of Molecules on Signaling Processes on Biomembrane
We investigate the influences of the excluded volume of molecules on
biochemical reaction processes on 2-dimensional surfaces using a model of
signal transduction processes on biomembranes. We perform simulations of the
2-dimensional cell-based model, which describes the reactions and diffusion of
the receptors, signaling proteins, target proteins, and crowders on the cell
membrane. The signaling proteins are activated by receptors, and these
activated signaling proteins activate target proteins that bind autonomously
from the cytoplasm to the membrane, and unbind from the membrane if activated.
If the target proteins bind frequently, the volume fraction of molecules on the
membrane becomes so large that the excluded volume of the molecules for the
reaction and diffusion dynamics cannot be negligible. We find that such
excluded volume effects of the molecules induce non-trivial variations of the
signal flow, defined as the activation frequency of target proteins, as
follows. With an increase in the binding rate of target proteins, the signal
flow varies by i) monotonically increasing; ii) increasing then decreasing in a
bell-shaped curve; or iii) increasing, decreasing, then increasing in an
S-shaped curve. We further demonstrate that the excluded volume of molecules
influences the hierarchical molecular distributions throughout the reaction
processes. In particular, when the system exhibits a large signal flow, the
signaling proteins tend to surround the receptors to form receptor-signaling
protein clusters, and the target proteins tend to become distributed around
such clusters. To explain these phenomena, we analyze the stochastic model of

Isolation and structure of the Streptococcus faecalis sex pheromone, cAM373
The Streptococcus faecalis sex pheromone, cAM373, which induces a mating response of donor cells harboring plasmid pAM373 and is also produced by Staphylococcus aureus, was isolated and its structure determined. Supernatant from an overnight culture of a recipient strain was subjected to successive purification procedures, and 4.4 [mu]g cAM373 was obtained. The isolated pheromone showed activity at a concentration as low as 5 x 10-11 M. Sequence analysis indicated that cAM373 was a heptapeptide, H-Ala-Ile-Phe-Ile-Leu-Ala-Ser-OH, and that its Mr was 733. Identification of Muscle-Specific MicroRNAs in Serum of Muscular Dystrophy Animal Models: Promising Novel Blood-Based Markers for Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a lethal X-linked disorder caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene, which encodes a cytoskeletal protein, dystrophin. Creatine kinase (CK) is generally used as a blood-based biomarker for muscular disease including DMD, but it is not always reliable since it is easily affected by stress to the body, such as exercise. Therefore, more reliable biomarkers of muscular dystrophy have long been desired. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, ∼22 nucleotide, noncoding RNAs which play important roles in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Recently, it has been reported that miRNAs exist in blood. In this study, we hypothesized that the expression levels of specific serum circulating miRNAs may be useful to monitor the pathological progression of muscular diseases, and therefore explored the possibility of these miRNAs as new biomarkers for muscular diseases. To confirm this hypothesis, we quantified the expression levels of miRNAs in serum of the dystrophin-deficient muscular dystrophy mouse model, mdx, and the canine X-linked muscular dystrophy in Japan dog model (CXMDJ), by real-time PCR. We found that the serum levels of several muscle-specific miRNAs (miR-1, miR-133a and miR-206) are increased in both mdx and CXMDJ. Interestingly, unlike CK levels, expression levels of these miRNAs in mdx serum are little influenced by exercise using treadmill. These results suggest that serum miRNAs are useful and reliable biomarkers for muscular dystrophy
