    Objective: The current study aimed at the investigation of the effectiveness of ethanolic and methanolic extract of Polygonum glabrum in aluminum chloride-induced Alzheimer’s disease in experimental rats. Methods: The behavioral parameters evaluated by following methods such as Morris water maze test, radial arm maze test, and active avoidance test. Biochemical parameters were also estimated such as acetylcholine and acetylcholine esterase. Results: Polygonum glabrum extract was instituted to be neuroprotective against AlCl3-induced toxicity. Enhanced learning and memory were allied to the ingestion of extract in rats. Al overload, acetylcholinesterase enzyme hyperactivity is responsible for Alzheimer’s disease which is neutralized or reduced with treatment of extract, which might be due to the synergistic action of its active constituents. Ethanolic extract was shown slightly higher efficacy as compared to methanolic extract. Conclusion: Based on these current findings, it is suggested that lowering Aβ is an unproven strategy, and it may be time to refocus on other targets for the treatment of this disease, including pathological forms of tau

An attempt is made to study the microstructure of the concrete with the addition of different SCM like fly ash, GGBS, metakaolin, silica fume, and rice husk ash. In this paper, data is presented in a simplified manner for the sake of convenience. Hydration is a continuous process and so microstructure of HPC and interfacial zone (ITZ) can change with age and effect of environment by the influencing agents present in it.     Objective: The present work deals with the study of the ethanolic extract of fruits of Allium cepa aerial leaves for cardioprotective activity.Methods: Cardioprotective activity of the ethanolic extract of aerial leaves of Allium cepa was determined by the administration of isoproterenol (60 mg/kg, s. c) for two days.Results: Pretreatment with ethanolic extract of Allium cepa aerial leaves (200 mg/kg, p. o and 100 mg/kg, p. o) for 28 d in significantly (p<0.01) reduce the levels of serum transaminases, alkaline phosphates, lactate dehydrogenase, creatinine kinase, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol, VLDL-cholesterol and increase the levels of HDL-cholesterol. Histopathological studies of the hearts of isoproterenol treated rats have showed infiltration of inflammatory cells and lacking of continuity in muscle fiber was suggesting an irreversible cell injury.Conclusion: Animals treated with ethanolic extract of Allium cepa aerial leaves showed less degenerative changes compared to isoproterenol-treated animals

    Antimicrobial effect of Lagenaria siceraria (Mol.) Standley, against certain bacteria and fungal strains

    This study was performed to evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal potency of Lagenaria siceraria (Mol.) Standley, commonly known as bottle gourd belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae. Petroleum Ether, Chloroform, Methanol, Absolute alcohol and Water showed a majority of the compound including Steroids, Alkaloids, Tannins, Flavonoids, Lactones and Carbohydrates. All the five extracts were prepared by using soxhlet apparatus and the extracts showed moderate to potent antimicrobial activity against the bacterial strains: Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus and antifungal strains: such as Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus oryzae and Trichoderma harzianum

    Methane and carbon dioxide adsorption on edge-functionalized graphene: A comparative DFT study

    With a view towards optimizing gas storage and separation in crystalline and disordered nanoporous carbon-based materials, we use ab initio density functional theory calculations to explore the effect of chemical functionalization on gas binding to exposed edges within model carbon nanostructures. We test the geometry, energetics, and charge distribution of in-plane and out-of-plane binding of CO2 and CH4 to model zigzag graphene nanoribbons edge-functionalized with COOH, OH, NH2, H2PO3, NO2, and CH3. Although different choices for the exchange-correlation functional lead to a spread of values for the binding energy, trends across the functional groups are largely preserved for each choice, as are the final orientations of the adsorbed gas molecules. We find binding of CO2 to exceed that of CH4 by roughly a factor of two. However, the two gases follow very similar trends with changes in the attached functional group, despite different molecular symmetries. Our results indicate that the presence of NH2, H2PO3, NO2, and COOH functional groups can significantly enhance gas binding with respect to a hydrogen-passivated edge, making the edges potentially viable binding sites in materials with high concentrations of edge carbons. To first order, in-plane binding strength correlates with the larger permanent and induced dipole moments on these groups. Implications for tailoring carbon structures for increased gas uptake and improved CO2/CH4 selectivity are discussed.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure

It allows users to share/post opinions, social media events, and interact with other political and ordinary people. According to Statista web site 2019 statistical report, it estimated that the number of users on Twitter had grown dramatically over the past couple of years to research 300 million users. Twitter has become the largest source of news and postings for key presidents and political figures. Referring to the Trackalytics 2019 report, the recent president of the USA had posted 4,000 tweets per year, which indicates an average of 11–12 tweets per day. Our research proposes a technique that extracts and analyzes tweets from blogs and predicts election results based on tweets analysis. It assessed the people’s opinion and studied the impact that might predict the final results for the Turkey 2018 presidential election candidates. The final results were compared with the actual election results and had a high accuracy prediction percentage based on the collected 22,000 tweets

    Loss of Pi-Junction Behaviour in an Interacting Impurity Josephson Junction

    Using a generalization of the non-crossing approximation which incorporates Andreev reflection, we study the properties of an infinite-U Anderson impurity coupled to two superconducting leads. In the regime where Δ\Delta and TKT_K are comparable, we find that the position of the sub-gap resonance in the impurity spectral function develops a strong anomalous phase dependence-- its energy is a minimum when the phase difference between the superconductors is equal to π\pi. Calculating the Josephson current through the impurity, we find that π\pi-junction behaviour is lost as the position of the bound-state moves above the Fermi energy.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures; labelling of Fig. 3 corrected; final published form, only trivial change

    SURFACE RESPONSE METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION OF NAPROXEN SUSTAINED RELEASE TABLETS

    Objective: The current work focuses on the development and optimization of Naproxen 800mg sustained release tablets using surface response methodology.Methods: The drug release was controlled by formulating it into a sustained release tablet. The formulae was developed using various individual concentrations and viscosity grades of HPMC polymers for Naproxen SR tablets. The compatibility of polymers along with pure drug Naproxen was evaluated using FTIR and DSC studies. The tablets were prepared and Pre- and Post-compressional parameters, In-vitro dissolution testing, release rate kinetics and stability studies were evaluated.Results: The FT-IR and DSC spectras confirms the absence of chemical interaction between drug and polymers. All the Pre-compressional and Post-compressional parameters were found to be in limits. From the dissolution testing of all these formulations the low and high level of polymer concentrations which were within the range of Target product profile was determined. The design space as defined by the above experiments is within 21.3 to 22.8 range of the total polymer concentration. The data for stability studies revealed that no considerable differences in drug content and dissolution rates for a period of 6 months as per ICH guidelines.Conclusion: Based on the above results, a design space for all the three polymers was successfully developed within which when the tablets are fabricated, the target product profile will always be achieved.
