Analysis of the effectiveness of physical rehabilitation according spirographic indicators in community-acquired pneumonia during convalescence
Purpose : to make a program of physical rehabilitation for convalescents after community-acquired pneumonia, promotes normalization of respiratory function. The objectives of the study was to evaluate the dynamics spirographic indicators during convalescence community-acquired pneumonia. Material: the study involved 28 women aged 19 to 24 years with a diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia after convalescent. Results: the positive influence of physiotherapy based dance aerobics; morning hygienic gymnastics; therapeutic massage and physical therapy on indicators of lung volumes, ventilation and bronchial patency according spirographic research. Conclusion: in community-acquired pneumonia during the convalescence period recommended physical rehabilitation, which includes curative gymnastics based on dance aerobics, morning hygienic gymnastics, massage therapy, physiotherapy. It improves the functionality of the cardiorespiratory system, nonspecific immunity and overall physical performance level
Colonoscopic polyp detection rate is stable throughout the workday including evening colonoscopy sessions
Objective: Polyp detection rate (PDR) is an accepted measure of colonoscopy quality. Several factors may influence PDR including time of procedure and order of colonoscopy within a session. Our unit provides evening colonoscopy lists (6-9 pm). We examined whether colonoscopy performance declines in the evening. Design: Data for all National Health Service (NHS) outpatient colonoscopies performed at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2011 were examined. Timing, demographics, indication and colonoscopy findings were recorded. Statistical analysis was performed using multivariate regression. Results: Data from 2576 colonoscopies were included: 1163 (45.1%) in the morning, 1123 (43.6%) in the afternoon and 290 (11.3%) in the evening. Overall PDR was 40.80%. Males, increasing age and successful caecal intubation were all significantly associated with higher polyp detection. The indications ‘faecal occult blood screening’ (p<0.001) and ‘polyp surveillance’ (p<0.001) were strongly positively associated and ‘anaemia’ (p=0.01) was negatively associated with PDR. Following adjustment for covariates, there was no significant difference in PDR between sessions. With the morning as the reference value, the odds ratio for polyp detection in the afternoon and evening were 0.93 (95% CI = 0.72-1.18) and 1.15 (95%CI = 0.82-1.61) respectively. PDR was not affected by rank of colonoscopy within a list, sedation dose or trainee-involvement. Conclusions: Time of day did not affect polyp detection rate in clinical practice. Evening colonoscopy had equivalent efficacy and is an effective tool in meeting increasing demands for endoscopy. Effect of the acrylic acid content on the permeability and water uptake of latex films
Acrylic acid (AA) is a monomer commonly employed in emulsion polymerization
to provide electrostatic colloidal stability and improve specific film
performance. The addition of AA not only modifies the kinetics of the
polymerization, but also it takes part in the interaction between colloidal
particles, which has a strong influence on their packing and consequent latex
film properties. In this contribution a theoretical modeling of the latex film
formation is presented and compared to experimental results: water vapor
permeability and latex film capacitance are studied as a function of AA
content. It has been shown that water uptake is mainly affected by film
morphology which in turn is defined by intercolloidal interaction and drying

Structure of the icosahedral Ti-Zr-Ni quasicrystal
The atomic structure of the icosahedral Ti-Zr-Ni quasicrystal is determined
by invoking similarities to periodic crystalline phases, diffraction data and
the results from ab initio calculations. The structure is modeled by
decorations of the canonical cell tiling geometry. The initial decoration model
is based on the structure of the Frank-Kasper phase W-TiZrNi, the 1/1
approximant structure of the quasicrystal. The decoration model is optimized
using a new method of structural analysis combining a least-squares refinement
of diffraction data with results from ab initio calculations. The resulting
structural model of icosahedral Ti-Zr-Ni is interpreted as a simple decoration
rule and structural details are discussed.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figure

Measurement of the Branching Ratios for the Decays of , and
Using a data sample with integrated luminosity of about 3.9 fb^{-1} collected
in e+ e- annihilation with the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage
Ring, we have measured the branching ratios for the decay modes Ds -> (eta,
eta') pi and Ds -> (eta, eta') rho relative to Ds -> phi pi. These decay modes
are among the most common hadronic decays of the Ds's and can be related by
factorization to the semileptonic decays Ds -> (eta,eta') l nu. The results
obtained are compared with previous CLEO results and with the branching ratios
measured for the related semileptonic decays. We also report results on the
Cabibbo-suppressed decays of the D+ to the same final states.Comment: 18 page postscript file, postscript file also available through

Search for the Decay
We have searched for the decay of the tau lepton into seven charged particles
and zero or one pi0. The data used in the search were collected with the CLEO
II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) and correspond to an
integrated luminosity of 4.61 fb^(-1). No evidence for a signal is found.
Assuming all the charged particles are pions, we set an upper limit on the
branching fraction, B(tau- -> 4pi- 3pi+ (pi0) nu_tau) < 2.4 x 10^(-6) at the
90% confidence level. This limit represents a significant improvement over the

Flavor-Specific Inclusive B Decays to Charm
We have measured the branching fractions for B -> D_bar X, B -> D X, and B ->
D_bar X \ell^+ \nu, where ``B'' is an average over B^0 and B^+, ``D'' is a sum
over D^0 and D^+, and``D_bar'' is a sum over D^0_bar and D^-. From these
results and some previously measured branching fractions, we obtain Br(b -> c
c_bar s) = (21.9 3.7)%, Br(b -> s g) K^-
\pi^+) = (3.69 0.20)%. Implications for the ``B semileptonic decay
problem'' (measured branching fraction being below theoretical expectations)
are discussed. The increase in the value of Br(b -> c c_bar s) due to eliminates 40% of the discrepancy.Comment: 12 page postscript file, postscript file also available through

Determination of the Michel Parameters and the tau Neutrino Helicity in tau Decay
Using the CLEO II detector at the storage ring CESR, we have
determined the Michel parameters , , and in decay as well as the tau neutrino helicity parameter
in decay. From a data sample of
tau pairs produced at , using events of
the topology and , and the determined sign of , the combined
result of the three samples is: , , , and
. The results are in agreement with

Tau Neutrino Helicity from Energy Correlations
We report a measurement of the magnitude of the tau neutrino helicity from
tau-pair events taken with the CLEO detector at the CESR electron-positron
storage ring. Events in which each tau undergoes the decay tau -> h nu, with h
a charged pion or kaon, are analyzed for energy correlations between the
daughter hadrons, yielding |xi| = 2*|h_nu| = 1.03 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.04, with the
