Semicircular Logistic Distribution induced by Simple Projection Method

    Get PDF
For modeling Semicircular data, here we introduce Semicircular Logistic distribution by applying a Simple projection method on Logistic model. We extend it to the -axial Logistic distribution by a Simple projection for modeling angular data on any arc of arbitrary length. Also derive the characteristic function and the first four trigonometric moments for the evaluation of population characteristics of proposed model. A bivariate version of l-axial Logistic distribution is also developed. Keywords: Circular model, Characteristic function, l-axial data, Projection, Trigonometric moments

Objective: Bosentan is an endothelin receptor antagonist (ERA) indicated for the treatment of Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The aim of the present study involves the development of sustained release matrix tablets of bosentan in order to release the drug in sustained and predictable manner. Methods: Bosentan SR Matrix tablets were prepared by Wet granulation method. The tablets were evaluated for Hardness, Thickness, Friability and Drug content and were subjected to a 12 hours in vitro drug release studies. Results: The amount of Bosentan released from the tablet formulations at different time intervals was estimated using a UV Spectroscopy method. Among all the formulations are prepared by using different polymers like HPMC K 4 M, HPMC K15 M at different ratios. Conclusion: We Can Conclude that Among the Ten formulations, F-2 formulation containing drug to HPMC K 4 M in ratio 1:0.5 is optimized based on its ability to sustain drug release till 12 hours of dissolution study, The results of the study clearly demonstrated that HPMC matrix tablet formulation is an effective and promising drug delivery system for once daily administration of Bosentan

The title compound, C12H17FNO+·Cl−, is a degradation impurity of paroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate (PAXIL), an antidepressant belonging to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Similar to the paroxetine hydrochloride salt with protonation having taken place on the basic piperidine ring, the degradation impurity also exists as the hydrochloride salt. The cyclic six-membered piperidinium ring adopts a chair conformation with the hydroxymethyl and 4-fluorophenyl groups in the equatorial positions. The ions form a tape along the b axis through charge-assisted N+—H⋯Cl− hydrogen bonds; these tapes are connected by O—H⋯Cl− hydrogen bonds along the a axis

Bioremediation Of Dairy Wastewater Using Microalgae For The Production Of Biodiesel

This study describes the feasibility for treatment of dairy waste waters in batch cultures by using selected strains of green microalgae namely Chlorella vulgaris, Botryococcus braunii and a mixed algal culture in indoor and outdoor. The Biomass productivity peaked on the 6th day. Best results were observed in C. vulgaris strain in both indoor and outdoor studies with biomass productivity of 0.51g/L, chlorophyll concentration of 0.039mg/L and lipid yield of 0.030g/L in indoor cultures whereas 0.59g/L of biomass productivity, 0.045mg/L chlorophyll concentration and 0.035g/L lipid yields were obtained in outdoor studies.. Gas Chromatography mass Spectrophotometer (GC MS) analysis of the extracted lipids showed that major components in C.vulgaris and mixed algae were palmitic acid, staeric acid and oleic acid where as oleic acid was the major component in B.braunii and palmitic acid, staeric acid were also present in minor amounts

Differential effects of anesthetics on resting state functional connectivity in the mouse

Blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) functional MRI (fMRI) is a standard approach to examine resting state functional connectivity (RSFC), but fMRI in animal models is challenging. Recently, functional optical intrinsic signal imaging-which relies on the same hemodynamic signal underlying BOLD fMRI-has been developed as a complementary approach to assess RSFC in mice. Since it is difficult to ensure that an animal is in a truly resting state while awake, RSFC measurements under anesthesia remain an important approach. Therefore, we systematically examined measures of RSFC using non-invasive, widefield optical intrinsic signal imaging under five different anesthetics in male C57BL/6J mice. We find excellent seed-based, global, and interhemispheric connectivity using tribromoethanol (Avertin) and ketamine-xylazine, comparable to results in the literature including awake animals. Urethane anesthesia yielded intermediate results, while chloral hydrate and isoflurane were both associated with poor RSFC. Furthermore, we found a correspondence between the strength of RSFC and the power of low-frequency hemodynamic fluctuations. In conclusion, Avertin and ketamine-xylazine provide robust and reproducible measures of RSFC in mice, whereas chloral hydrate and isoflurane do not.R25 NS065743 - NINDS NIH HHS; KL2 TR002542 - NCATS NIH HHS; R00 AG042026 - NIA NIH HHS; K08 NS112601 - NINDS NIH HHS; P01 NS055104 - NINDS NIH HHS; R01 MH111359 - NIMH NIH HHS; R01 NS102969 - NINDS NIH HHS; R01 AA027097 - NIAAA NIH HHS; R01 NS091230 - NINDS NIH HHSPublished versio

Flow in heavy-ion collisions - Theory Perspective

I review recent developments in the field of relativistic hydrodynamics and its application to the bulk dynamics in heavy-ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy- Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In particular, I report on progress in going beyond second order relativistic viscous hydrodynamics for conformal fluids, including temperature dependent shear viscosity to entropy density ratios, as well as coupling hydrodynamic calculations to microscopic hadronic rescattering models. I describe event-by-event hydrodynamic simulations and their ability to compute higher harmonic flow coefficients. Combined comparisons of all harmonics to recent experimental data from both RHIC and LHC will potentially allow to determine the desired details of the initial state and the medium properties of the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions.Comment: 8 pages, Invited plenary talk at the 22nd International Conference on Ultrarelativistic Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions (Quark Matter 2011), May 23-28 2011, Annecy, Franc

Trace elements in glucometabolic disorders: an update

    Get PDF
Many trace elements, among which metals, are indispensable for proper functioning of a myriad of biochemical reactions, more particularly as enzyme cofactors. This is particularly true for the vast set of processes involved in regulation of glucose homeostasis, being it in glucose metabolism itself or in hormonal control, especially insulin. The role and importance of trace elements such as chromium, zinc, selenium, lithium and vanadium are much less evident and subjected to chronic debate. This review updates our actual knowledge concerning these five trace elements. A careful survey of the literature shows that while theoretical postulates from some key roles of these elements had led to real hopes for therapy of insulin resistance and diabetes, the limited experience based on available data indicates that beneficial effects and use of most of them are subjected to caution, given the narrow window between safe and unsafe doses. Clear therapeutic benefit in these pathologies is presently doubtful but some data indicate that these metals may have a clinical interest in patients presenting deficiencies in individual metal levels. The same holds true for an association of some trace elements such as chromium or zinc with oral antidiabetics. However, this area is essentially unexplored in adequate clinical trials, which are worth being performed
