Integrating network storage into information retrieval applications
The object-oriented software environment GTP (General Text Parser) with network storage capability has been designed to provide a scalable solution to index creation and query processing. GTP allows information retrieval and data mining professionals to parse a large collection of documents and create a vector space information retrieval model for subsequent concept-based query processing (GTPQUERY). The software\u27s numerous options allow users to tune the model to their specific needs. Depending on the size of the collection, the facilitation of the model may require an enormous amount of local storage. The addition of network storage capability addresses the problem of inadequate local storage and file sharing over the network. Tools defining the Logistical Networking Testbed developed in the Logistical Computing and Intrnetworking (LoCI) Lab at the University of Tennessee are used to demonstrate both the creation and use of remotely stored indices. With the development of new network storage technologies, the software will be able to forgo most local file generation and will allow remote users to share the index created by GTP
The activity of the Kazan governorate nobility self-government in the middle of the 19th - early 20th century
© the author(s). The importance of the research of the Kazan Governorate nobility self-government activity in the middle of the 19th - early 20th centuries is determined by the fact that the study of this issue gives the opportunity to define the scenarios of keeping the power in the hands of the nobility, as well as the domestic needs of the nobility who represented multifunctional institutions handling both the problems of their social class and the local administration issues. This research is supported by the system approach based upon the study of noble institutions as an integral whole, and all aspects of its activity are geared to the interests of the nobility. The article highlights the study of the Kazan Governorate noble institutions as the bodies of the social class self-government. The authors investigated the interaction with the local government, and the influence on the government policy during the petition campaign and by means of the meetings of the governorate noble society representatives. The activity of the noble institutions shows their role in the formation of the civil society. The practical value of the research is that its conceptual issues and conclusions may be used in the preparation of the summarizing and special works on the history of Russia and Tatarstan. These materials are of research and practical interest within the study of social, political and economic life of the Russian Empire and Kazan Governorate
Accounting agricultural business from scratch: management accounting, decision making, analysis and monitoring of business processes
The article reveals the key points of accounting and management actions when creating an agricultural business from scratch for growing seedlings of vegetables in a greenhouse. The main economic instruments for creating an agricultural business for growing vegetable seedlings in a greenhouse in Russia are: planning, management, accounting, organization, analysis and monitoring of business processes. Today, the state is increasingly focusing on the development of the industry, helping beginners and existing farmers, allocating land at preferential rates, subsidizing interest rates on loans and providing grants for the development of greenhouses. However, the main problem holding back the development of the industry remains high utility tariffs. One of the main conditions for obtaining reliable management information on business value is a clear definition of the costs incurred to create a business from scratch and its further sustainable development.
The aim of the study is to develop management accounting criteria for organizing a business from scratch. The subject of the study is management accounting as an integrated mechanism in terms of creating and developing an agricultural business from scratch.
In accordance with this goal, the main task was determined: to develop managerial decisions to create an agricultural business (greenhouse) for growing seedlings of vegetables for its implementation in the Udmurt Republic. It is concluded that achieving high profits is possible with a competent managerial approach, taking into account the further expansion and cultivation of other seedling crops, despite the complexity and specificity of this type of activity
Thermokinetic Diagram of the Nonequilibrium Crystallization of Die Steel 2Kh5MNFSL
© 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York. A thermokinetic diagram of the hardening of steel 2Kh5MNFSL is plotted on the basis of results of experimental studies of the effect of the rate of cooling of a melt on the temperature field of castings and the rate of displacement of the directional crystallization front. The critical temperature of supercooling of the melt is determined along with the dimensions of the homogenously structured layer that is formed on the surface of the casting; segregation-inducing diffusion of the alloying elements is almost completely suppressed within this layer
The economic efficiency of european football clubs - Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach
The relevance of this paper lies in the fact that football business has grown significantly in the past 20 years and football clubs have become large companies, which in an effort to be profitable and successful on the field need to improve the efficiency of their business. The aim of this article is to measure economic efficiency of 48 big European football clubs and assess the relationship between efficiency and different financial and sportive indicators (variables). To measure efficiency, we used both widely used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method and its extensions: DEA Super-efficiency and DEA Cross-efficiency models. The results showed that these methods can successively be applied to football clubs’ efficiency measurement and the analysis of the them can help to explain why some clubs are efficient or inefficient and which factors affects the efficiency. This paper will be interesting football clubs’ managers, football analytics, economists and other people interested in football business because we combine in it the most interesting ideas and methods about football clubs’ efficiency measurement. © 2016 Pyatunin et al
Analog studies of thermomechanical fatigue and abrasive wear of cast and forged steels for "autoforge" dies
Processes of thermomechanical fatigue and abrasive wear of suspension-cast precipitation-hardening ferrite-carbide steel 30T6NTiC-1.5 and standard steel 4Kh5MFS are studied. The dominant kinds of fracture typical for dies for semisolid stamping are determined. The factors and parameters of cyclic temperature and force loading are shown to produce a selective action on the competing kinds of damage of the die steels. A comparative analysis of the properties of the steels is performed. Steel 30T6NTiC-1.5 is shown to have substantial advantages over steel 4Kh5FMS traditionally used for making "Autoforge" dies. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York
Preparation and X-ray structure of 2-iodoxybenzenesulfonic acid (IBS) - a powerful hypervalent iodine(V) oxidant
The selective preparation of 2-iodoxybenzenesulfonic acid (IBS, as potassium or sodium salts) by oxidation of sodium 2-iodobenzenesulfonate with Oxone or sodium periodate in water is reported. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals a complex polymeric structure consisting of three units of IBS as potassium salt and one unit of 2-iodoxybenzenesulfonic acid linked together by relatively strong I=O···I intermolecular interactions. Furthermore, a new method for the preparation of the reduced form of IBS, 2-iodosylbenzenesulfonic acid, by using periodic acid as an oxidant, has been developed. It has been demonstrated that the oxidation of free 2-iodobenzenesulfonic acid under acidic conditions affords an iodine(III) heterocycle (2-iodosylbenzenesulfonic acid), while the oxidation of sodium 2-iodobenzenesulfonate in neutral aqueous solution gives the iodine(V) products
