    Response surface methodology approach to study the influence of PEG and water in cellulose acetate dialysis membranes

    Flat sheet asymmetric dialysis membranes were fabricated using phase inversion method from polymer solution consisting of cellulose acetate, acetic acid, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and distilled water. The effect of acetic acid/PEG ratio and the distilled water content in the dialysis membrane were being investigated with respect to the urea clearance performance. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to design the experiments and analysed the results obtained. The analysis revealed that the significant factor that affects the cellulose acetate dialysis membrane performance in terms of urea clearance is the ratio of acetic acid/PEG. Dialysis membrane with higher ratio of acetic acid/PEG gives higher urea clearance percentage due to the formation of finger like macrovoids. The relation between the urea clearance and the ratio of acetic acid/PEG in the given range of 4 – 14, was a quadratic model and the mathematical model suggested could adequately describe the performance indicators within the limits mentioned

    Bioassay Guided Chromatographic Isolation Of Lactation Inducing Agent From Hippocratea Obtusifolia

    The powdered leaves of Hippocratea obtusifolia (commonly known as gwadayi in Hausa) was percolated with ethanol and then sequentially extracted with petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol. The extracts were respectively labeled HO1, HO2, HO3, and HO4, with the ethanolic extract labeled HO. The extracts were subjected to bioactivity against lactation inducement, and the chloroform extract labeled HO2 was found to be the most active. The HO2 extract was then subjected to column and thin layer chromatography with similar fractions pooled together. The pooled fractions were then subjected to bioactivity testing against lactation inducement, and the fraction labeled HO2-13 was found to be the most active, this was subsequently subjected to column and thin layer chromatography with similar fractions pooled together. The pooled fractions were again subjected to bioactivity testing against lactation inducement, and the fraction labeled HO2-13-111 was found to be the most active. The fraction HO2-13-111 was subjected spectroscopic analysis, using Infrared, Mass spectroscopy, and both 1H and 13C NMR data obtained.     Mosquito repellent activity of the leaf extracts of Lawsonia inermis (l)

    The ethanolic extract of the leaves of Lawsonia inermis (commonly known as lalle in Hausa) was sequentially extracted with petroleum ether,  chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol. The extracts were respectively labeled LI1, LI2, LI3, and LI4, with the ethanolic extract labeled LI, and 12.5% and 25% of the test extracts were tested for repellency against Anopheles gambiae, and the repellent activity was assessed using the human-bait technique. Five volunteers participated in the laboratory tests, one each for the extracts. The chloroform extract labeled LI1-02 was found to be the most active, (100% repellency), while the extract labeled LI1-03 (25%) recorded the least activity (15.4%). It can be concluded that the chloroform extract labeled LI1-02 is responsible for repellent activity of Lawsonia inermis.Keywords: Repellency, Anopheles gambiae, human-bait technique, Lawsonia inermis extracts

    Evaluations of Reactions Cross Section of Radionuclide by Particles Induced Nuclear Reactions using Exifon Code

     In this work the reaction cross section for the production radionuclide of and  isotopesfrom bismuth-208 were calculated using EXIFON code in the energy range from 0 MeV to 30 MeV. The code is based on an analytical model for statistical multistep direct and multistep compound reactions (SMD/SMC model).The results obtained shows that production ofTlis not observed at this energy range because the interaction cross section is zero, and also the excitation functions for the production of Tl-205 and Tl-204 were obtained.

    Choosing the Right Software in Supporting the Successful of Enterprise ERP Implementation

    Enterprise Resource Planning is an integrated information system that involves many parties in the company's resources. Success factors in implementing ERP in addition to management is also supported by the implementation of adequate software. Critical success factors in the implementation is not perfect because it basically creates tension between resources are bridged with a ERP software integration appropriate to support the company's productivity. This paper outlines a summary of the procedures and how to implement ERP software to support the success of the previous research. Factors that led to the financial costs of ERP implementation risks are also considered in the selection of this software. Survey methodology used in this study as well as the implementation of measures that should be used as guidelines for software development-ready. The results showed that the full-time project managers choose the right, training personnel tend to bring a successful project implementation. This is impacting on the integration and application of software risks that will be applied to a particular time period. Given this research is expected the decision makers in the organization can improve enterprise information systems implementation in terms of implementation of software systems in accordance with company objectives

    Analisis Perancangan Sistem Informasi Terintegrasi di Lingkungan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta di Medan

    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh Sistem Informasi Terpadu (SIT) di Perguruan Tinggi Swasta. Analisis biaya desain Sistem Informasi yang terintegrasi dan mengintegrasikan sistem informasi di lingkungan kampus. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 108 PTS di Medan. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh Cronbach Alpha nilai uji reliabilitas sebesar 0,825 atau dapat diandalkan (reliability) sangat tinggi. Uji Korelasi Ganda (R) dari 0,303 atau lebih rendah dari hubungan antara variabel independen terhadap variabel independen. Uji R2 sebesar 0,92 atau (92%). Sedangkan nilai F hitun
