Light-YOLOv5: A Lightweight Algorithm for Improved YOLOv5 in Complex Fire Scenarios

In response to the existing object detection algorithms are applied to complex fire scenarios with poor detection accuracy, slow speed and difficult deployment., this paper proposes a lightweight fire detection algorithm of Light-YOLOv5 that achieves a balance of speed and accuracy. First, the last layer of backbone network is replaced with SepViT Block to enhance the contact of backbone network to global information; second, a Light-BiFPN neck network is designed to lighten the model while improving the feature extraction; third, Global Attention Mechanism (GAM) is fused into the network to make the model more focused on global dimensional features; finally, we use the Mish activation function and SIoU loss to increase the convergence speed and improve the accuracy simultaneously. The experimental results show that Light-YOLOv5 improves mAP by 3.3% compared to the original algorithm, reduces the number of parameters by 27.1%, decreases the computation by 19.1%, achieves FPS of 91.1. Even compared to the latest YOLOv7-tiny, the mAP of Light-YOLOv5 was 6.8% higher, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the algorithm

Solvable BCS-Hubbard Lindbladians in arbitrary dimensions

We present the construction of a solvable Lindblad model in arbitrary dimensions, wherein the Lindbladian can be mapped to a BCS-Hubbard model featuring an imaginary interaction. The Hilbert space of the system can be divided into multiple sectors, each characterized by an onsite invariant configuration. The model exhibits bistable steady states in all spatial dimensions, which is guaranteed by the fermion-number parity. Notably, the Liouvillian gap exhibits a Zeno transition, below which the Liouvillian gap is linear with respect to the dissipation. We also uncover a generic dimension-dependent gap behavior: In one dimension, the gap originates from multiple sectors with spectral crossing; in higher dimensions, a single sector determines the gap.Comment: 6+2 pages, 2 figure

A generalized public goods game with coupling of individual ability and project benefit

Facing a heavy task, any single person can only make a limited contribution and team cooperation is needed. As one enjoys the benefit of the public goods, the potential benefits of the project are not always maximized and may be partly wasted. By incorporating individual ability and project benefit into the original public goods game, we study the coupling effect of the four parameters, the upper limit of individual contribution, the upper limit of individual benefit, the needed project cost and the upper limit of project benefit on the evolution of cooperation. Coevolving with the individual-level group size preferences, an increase in the upper limit of individual benefit promotes cooperation while an increase in the upper limit of individual contribution inhibits cooperation. The coupling of the upper limit of individual contribution and the needed project cost determines the critical point of the upper limit of project benefit, where the equilibrium frequency of cooperators reaches its highest level. Above the critical point, an increase in the upper limit of project benefit inhibits cooperation. The evolution of cooperation is closely related to the preferred group-size distribution. A functional relation between the frequency of cooperators and the dominant group size is found

OBJECTIVES: Patients with Type I neurofibromatosis scoliosis with intra-canal rib head protrusion are extremely rare. Current knowledge regarding the diagnosis and treatment for this situation are insufficient. The purpose of this study is to share our experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatments for such unique deformities. METHODS: Six patients with Type I neurofibromatosis scoliosis with rib head dislocation into the spinal canal were diagnosed at our institution. Posterior instrumentation and spinal fusion without intra-canal rib head resection via a posterior-only approach was performed for deformity correction and rib head extraction. The efficacy and outcomes of the surgery were evaluated by measurements before, immediately and 24 months after the surgery using the following parameters: coronal spinal Cobb angle, apex rotation and kyphosis of the spine and the intra-canal rib head position. Post-operative complications, surgery time and blood loss were also evaluated. RESULTS: Patients were followed up for at least 24 months post-operatively. The three dimensional spinal deformity was significantly improved and the intra-canal rib head was significantly extracted from the canal immediately after the surgery. At follow-up 24 months after surgery, solid fusions were achieved along the fusion segments, and the deformity corrections and rib head positions were well maintained. There were no surgery-related complications any time after the surgery. CONCLUSIONS: Systematic examinations are needed to identify patients with Type I neurofibromatosis scoliosis with rib head dislocation into the canal who can be treated by posterior-only spinal fusion without rib head resection

Pathways to food insecurity: Migration, hukou and Covid‐19 in Nanjing, China

The COVID‐19 pandemic has issued significant challenges to food systems and the food security of migrants in cities. In China, there have been no studies to date focusing on the food security of migrants during the pandemic. To fill this gap, an online questionnaire survey of food security in Nanjing City, China, was conducted in March 2020. This paper situates the research findings in the general literature on the general migrant experience during the pandemic under COVID and the specifics of the Chinese policy of hukou. Using multiple linear regression and ordered logistic regression, the paper examines the impact of migration status on food security during the pandemic. The paper finds that during the COVID‐19 outbreak in 2020, households without local Nanjing hukou were more food insecure than those with Nanjing hukou. The differences related more to the absolute quantity of food intake, rather than reduction in food quality or in levels of anxiety over food access. Migrants in China and elsewhere during COVID‐19 experienced three pathways to food insecurity—an income gap, an accessibility gap, and a benefits gap. This conceptual framework is used to structure the discussion and interpretation of survey findings and also has wider potential applicability
