The maximum forcing number of polyomino
The forcing number of a perfect matching of a graph is the
cardinality of the smallest subset of that is contained in no other perfect
matchings of . For a planar embedding of a 2-connected bipartite planar
graph which has a perfect matching, the concept of Clar number of hexagonal
system had been extended by Abeledo and Atkinson as follows: a spanning
subgraph of is called a Clar cover of if each of its components is
either an even face or an edge, the maximum number of even faces in Clar covers
of is called Clar number of , and the Clar cover with the maximum number
of even faces is called the maximum Clar cover. It was proved that if is a
hexagonal system with a perfect matching and is a set of hexagons in a
maximum Clar cover of , then has a unique 1-factor. Using this
result, Xu {\it et. at.} proved that the maximum forcing number of the
elementary hexagonal system are equal to their Clar numbers, and then the
maximum forcing number of the elementary hexagonal system can be computed in
polynomial time. In this paper, we show that an elementary polyomino has a
unique perfect matching when removing the set of tetragons from its maximum
Clar cover. Thus the maximum forcing number of elementary polyomino equals to
its Clar number and can be computed in polynomial time. Also, we have extended
our result to the non-elementary polyomino and hexagonal system
On How to Create a Harmonious Researching Environment by Analyzing the Humanized Social Science Administration
Humanized social science administration in colleges should focus on the orientation of its value and its function, and pay attention to the influence that the administration has on the researcherâs mentality and development of his proficiency. At present, such fake humanized phenomenons as localized, randomized, and making decisions by relationships in college social science administration are common occurance, which has distorted the essence of âpeople firstâ. To strengthen the process administration of scientific research from the value perspective of humanized administration is good for researchers to purify their motivation, to optimize their research tracks, and to improve their quality of results. Besides, to strengthen the institutional construction and the environmental molding from the function perspective of humanized administration is good for researchers to inspire their research proficiency, to inhance their reputation in research and to make a favorable research atmosphere.
A Study of Dominant Motives Among College Students
The present study assessed Chinese college studentsâ motivation by measuring their personal strivings and proposed 17 major motives. These motives could be grouped into three dimensions: selfâother or society, material or biology â spirituality, and appearance â inner motives. Among these 17 motives, the most popular four motives were Self-Improvement, Achievement, Enjoyment, and Health. In general, male students exhibited significantly higher Achievement than female students, and female students showed significantly higher Intimacy, Enjoyment, Good Appearance, and Environmental Protection than male students
Effect of combined sedation using multiple drugs on inflammatory cytokines in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome
The innate immune response plays an important role in the pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS); however, no drug has been proven to be beneficial in the management of ARDS. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of using combined sedatives on systemic inflammatory responses in patients with ARDS. A total of 90 patients with ARDS and an intubation time of > 120 h were randomly divided into the propofol group (group P), midazolam group (group M), and combined sedation group (group U). Patients in groups P and M were sedated with propofol and midazolam, respectively, whereas patients in group U were sedated with a combination of propofol, midazolam, and dexmedetomidine. The dosage of sedatives and vasoactive drugs, duration of mechanical ventilation, and incidence of sedative adverse reactions were documented. The dosage of sedatives and vasoactive drugs, as well as the incidence of sedative adverse reactions in group U, was significantly lower than those in groups P and M. Similarly, the duration of mechanical ventilation in group U was significantly shorter than that in groups P and M. Hence, inducing sedation through a combination of multiple drugs can significantly reduce their adverse effects, improve their sedative effect, inhibit systemic inflammatory responses, and improve oxygenation in patients with ARDS
The preparation and properties of novel structural carbon foams derived from different mesophase pitches
As a novel porous multi-functional carbon material, carbon foams have high bulk thermal conductivity and low density, making them as excellent materials for thermal management systems applications, such as heat exchangers, space radiators, and thermal protection systems. In this paper, the carbon foams with high thermal conductivity, derived from three kinds of mesophase pitches, were fabricated by the process of foaming, carbonization and graphitization. The microstructures of the foams were examined by scanning electron microscopy. It was found that the pores were uniformly distributed, and the pore wall thickened with increasing foamsâ density. The properties of the foams were studied, including compressive strength and thermal conductivity. The results showed that lower density and higher thermal conductivity were achieved for the foams using the two kinds of pitches with higher volatile components. The bulk thermal conductivity of carbon foams were up to 179 W/(m·K) and 201 W/(m·K), for the densities of 0.66 g/cm3 and 0.83 g/cm3, respectively. The foamsâ compressive strength was in the range of 1.6 MPa to 3.4 MPa
