Error Correction for Cooperative Data Exchange

This paper considers the problem of error correction for a cooperative data exchange (CDE) system, where some clients are compromised or failed and send false messages. Assuming each client possesses a subset of the total messages, we analyze the error correction capability when every client is allowed to broadcast only one linearly-coded message. Our error correction capability bound determines the maximum number of clients that can be compromised or failed without jeopardizing the final decoding solution at each client. We show that deterministic, feasible linear codes exist that can achieve the derived bound. We also evaluate random linear codes, where the coding coefficients are drawn randomly, and then develop the probability for a client to withstand a certain number of compromised or failed peers and successfully deduce the complete message for any network size and any initial message distributions

Objective. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between dietary patterns and precocious puberty among Shanghai children. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among Shanghai children by multistage stratified cluster random sampling in June 2014. Diet was assessed using a simplified food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Height, weight, and Tanner stages of breast development, pubic hair growth, and testicular volume were carefully measured. Exploratory factor analysis was used to identify dietary patterns, and logistic regression analysis was used to assess the association between dietary patterns and precocious puberty. Results. Three distinct dietary patterns, “traditional diet,” “unhealthy diet,” and “protein diet,” were established. Neither the “traditional diet” pattern nor the “protein diet” pattern showed any association with precocious puberty, taking gender, BMI, and adjustment factors into consideration. The “unhealthy diet” pattern was significantly positively associated with precocious puberty in both boys (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.02–1.51) and girls (OR = 1.31, 95% CI = 1.10–1.56). The relationship remained positive only for girls (OR = 1.25, 95% CI = 1.04–1.49) after adjustment for age and BMI but statistically nonsignificant after further adjustment for socioeconomic factors in both boys and girls. Conclusions. Dietary patterns were found to be related to precocious puberty among Shanghai children

Growth Pattern in Chinese Children With 5α-Reductase Type 2 Deficiency: A Retrospective Multicenter Study

Background5α-reductase type 2 deficiency (5αRD) is an autosomal recessive hereditary disease of the group of 46, XY disorders of sex development (DSD).ObjectiveTo study the growth pattern in Chinese pediatric patients with 5αRD.SubjectsData were obtained from 141 patients with 5αRD (age: 0–16 years old) who visited eight pediatric endocrine centers from January 2010 to December 2017.MethodsIn this retrospective cohort study, height, weight, and other relevant data were collected from the multicenter hospital registration database. Baseline luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), testosterone (T), and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) after human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) stimulation test were measured by enzyme enhanced chemiluminescence assay. Bone age (BA) was assessed using the Greulich-Pyle (G-P) atlas. Growth curve was constructed based on λ-median-coefficient of variation method (LMS).ResultsThe height standard deviation scores (HtSDS) and weight standard deviation scores (WtSDS) in 5αRD children were in the normal range as compared to normal boys. Significantly higher HtSDS was observed in patients with 5αRD who were <1 year old (t = 3.658, 2.103, P = 0.002, 0.048, respectively), and higher WtSDS in those <6 months old (t = 2.756, P = 0.012). Then HtSDS and WtSDS decreased gradually and fluctuated near the median of the same age until 13 years. WtSDS in 5αRD children from northern China were significantly higher than those from the south (Z = -2.670, P = 0.008). The variation tendency of HtSDS in Chinese 5αRDs was consistent with the trend of stimulating T. HtSDS and stimulating T in the external masculinization score (EMS) <7 group were slightly higher than those in EMS ≥ 7 group without significant difference. Additionally, the ratio of BA over chronological age (BA/CA) was significantly <1 in children with 5αRD.ConclusionChildren with 5αRD had a special growth pattern that was affected by high levels of T, while DHT played a very small role in it. Their growth accelerated at age <1 year, followed by slowing growth and fluctuating height near normal median boys’ height. The BA was delayed in 5αRD children. Androgen treatment, which may be considered anyway for male 5αRD patients with a micropenis, may also be beneficial for growth

Research on Evolution of Spatial Pattern of Crude Oil Trade

In these years, diversification of import channels has been a important strategy to get the security of petroleum import. However, diversification premises a thorough analysis and understanding of the importing strategy of other countries in advance. Ignorance of other crude oil importing countries’ strategic decisions and their interactions and integrations will inevitably lead to the failure of the diversification strategy. This paper analyses the world’s network of crude oil import and shows the evolving of the structure. Analysis of a regional comparison is also carried out to highlight the difference between the states and the homogeneity of world crude oil trade networks. Finally, the spatial structure of world crude oil trade has been simulated. In conclusion, diversification does necessarily not mean homogeneity. The resource reserve in each region varies and the economic and political relationships among regions are also diverse, which determine that diversification of import channels depends on the objective situation and relationship with our partners

Fast Synchronization Method of Comb-Actuated MEMS Mirror Pair for LiDAR Application

    No full text
MEMS-based LiDAR (micro-electro–mechanical system based light detection and ranging), with a low cost and small volume, becomes a promising solution for the two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) optical imaging. A semi-coaxial MEMS LiDAR design, based on a synchronous MEMS mirror pair, was proposed in our early study. In this paper, we specifically reveal the synchronization method of the comb-actuated MEMS mirror pair, including the frequency, amplitude, and phase synchronization. The frequency sweeping and phase adjustment are simultaneously implemented to accelerate the MEMS mirror synchronization process. The experiment is set up and the entire synchronization process is completed within 5 s. Eventually, a one-beam MEMS LiDAR system with the synchronous MEMS mirror pair is set up and a LiDAR with a field of view (FOV) of 60°, angular resolution of 0.2°, and frame rate of 360 Hz is obtained. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the MEMS mirror synchronization method and show a promising potential application prospect for the MEMS LiDAR system
