    Optical Properties of GaSb Nanofibers

    Amorphous GaSb nanofibers were obtained by ion beam irradiation of bulk GaSb single-crystal wafers, resulting in fibers with diameters of ~20 nm. The Raman spectra and photoluminescence (PL) of the ion irradiation-induced nanofibers before and after annealing were studied. Results show that the Raman intensity of the GaSb LO phonon mode decreased after ion beam irradiation as a result of the formation of the amorphous nanofibers. A new mode is observed at ~155 cm-1 both from the unannealed and annealed GaSb nanofiber samples related to the A1g mode of Sb–Sb bond vibration. Room temperature PL measurements of the annealed nanofibers present a wide feature band at ~1.4–1.6 eV. The room temperature PL properties of the irradiated samples presents a large blue shift compared to bulk GaSb. Annealed nanofibers and annealed nanofibers with Au nanodots present two different PL peaks (400 and 540 nm), both of which may originate from Ga or O vacancies in GaO. The enhanced PL and new band characteristics in nanostructured GaSb suggest that the nanostructured fibers may have unique applications in optoelectronic devices

    Comparison of prevalence and risk factors of somatization between Chinese health care workers and non-health care workers during COVID-19 outbreak

    Background This study aimed to compare prevalence and risk factors of somatization (SOM) between health care workers and non-health care workers during COVID-19 outbreak in China. Methods From 14 February to 29 March 2020, an online survey was performed in both 605 health care workers and 1151 non-health care workers. Based on the somatization dimension score of the Symptom Checklist-90, participants were divided into non-SOM group and SOM group. Results Health care workers had higher prevalence rate of SOM (p = 10 h per day during COVID-19 outbreak. Conclusions Our research suggests that both non-health care workers and health care workers have a relatively high prevalence of somatization. However, the related factors for somatization in both groups are significantly different, showing that medical service-related factors are associated with somatization in health care workers, while demographic and clinical factors are associated with somatization in non-health care workers

    Template Preparation of Copper-Based Chalcogenides and their Electrochemical Performance for Li-ion Batteries

    Transition-Metal chalcogenides have high Li-ion storage capacity and considerable cycle performance, which has attracted great interest from researchers and is expected to replace graphite materials in the field of Li ion batteries. The purpose of this paper is to find a low-cost and ecofriendly method for producing copper-based chalcogenides as anodes with a high capacity and long cycling stability for lithium ion batteries. In our strategy, carbon nanospheres are used as templates to prepare precursor Cu(OH)(2)@C. Then, the Cu(OH)(2)@C is converted into copper-based chalcogenides by different routes. The structure and morphology of the as-synthesized materials is characterized by the X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The anode electrochemical performance of the samples was investigated by galvanostatic cycling (GC) vs. Li/Li+ at different current rate. Compared to other copper chalcogenides, the synthesized copper oxide shows better charge/discharge cycle stability and rate performance. Its capacity retention is as high as 128 % at a current density of 0.5 C after 200 cycles

    Saturation Effect on the Coherency Loss of Spatially Varying Vertical Ground Motions

    The effect of the influence regularity of site saturation and water level on the coherency loss between spatially varying earthquake ground motions (SVEGMs) in a vertical direction is not yet clear. Therefore, taking an onshore-offshore site as an example, the influence regularity of site saturation and water level on the coherency loss of SVEGMs in a vertical direction was studied, in which the saturation degree of the whole site (SD), the groundwater level (GWL), and the thickness of the surface water layer (WLT) were considered. Under each case mentioned above, a large number of vertical in-plane SVEGMs were synthesized and then correspondingly, the mean lagged coherency loss and phase angle of coherence function were obtained, and a series of comparisons were carried out to shed light on the varying trend of the value of lagged coherency loss and phase angle, with predefined parameters. The results showed that SD, GWL, and WLT possess significant effects on the varying trend of the coherence function of vertical SVEGMs

    Acoustic Assessment of Fishery Resources in Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm Area

    After more than ten years of offshore wind farm (OWF) construction, the total installed capacity of China ranks first in the world. The effect of OWF on fish communities—to attract or banish—differs among fish species and wind farms. Studies on the effects of OWFs are limited in China and results from other regions may not be transferable due to different environmental and biological conditions. In October 2019, an acoustic survey was conducted in Jinwan OWF, outside the Pearl River Estuary, northern South China Sea, China, to assess the fish resources (biomass and abundance), community diversity, and distribution information of this area. According to the Index of Relative Importance (IRI), Harpadon nehereus and Brionobutis koilomatodon were the dominant fish species in the study area. The mean Shannon–Weiner diversity index was 1.74. The mean Margalef richness index and Pielou uniformity index were 2.51 and 0.84, respectively. The ABC curve indicated that the fish community was undisturbed. The mean acoustically-derived biomass and abundance densities were 195.40 ± 254.32 kg/km2 and 6506.83 ± 11,098.96 individuals/km2, respectively. The fishery resources had evident aggregate distribution patterns, and the southern part of the study area had more biomass than the northern part. Seven environmental factors were selected by canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) analysis to reveal the correlation between fish assemblages and environmental factors, including nitrate (NO3−), ammonium (NH4+), dissolved oxygen (DO), water depth, pH, Chlorophyll a (Chl a), and phosphate (PO4+). However, the CCA only accounted for 45.49% of the total variation, indicating that other unexplained stresses affect the fish assemblage in Jinwan OWF. This is the first study to examine the fish distribution patterns and community structures of the Jinwan OWF area. In addition, it will help all sectors of society to more scientifically and objectively understand offshore wind farm projects. In future studies, control areas with more trawl samples can be set up to explore the long-term impact of OWF facilities on local fish communities

    Clinical evaluation of radiation-induced sinusitis by MRI-based scoring system in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients

    Abstract Objective To explore the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the evaluation of radiation-induced sinusitis (RIS), MRI-based scoring system was used to evaluate the development regularity, characteristics and influencing factors of RIS in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. Patients and methods A retrospective analysis was performed by collecting the clinical and MRI data of 346 NPC patients to analyze the characteristics and prognosis of RIS. The predictive model was constructed according to the influencing factors of RIS. Results (1) In the 2-year follow-up after radiotherapy (RT), there was significant change in L-M score in both groups of NPC patients (sinusitis before RT group: p = 0.000 vs. non-sinusitis before RT group: p = 0.000). After 6 months of RT, the L-M scores of the two groups tended to plateau (sinusitis before RT group: p = 0.311 vs. non-sinusitis before RT group: p = 0.469). (2) The prevalence of sinusitis in two groups of NPC patients (without or with sinusitis before RT) was 83% vs. 93%, 91% vs. 99%, 94% vs. 98% at 1, 6 and 24 months after RT, respectively. (3) In the patients without sinusitis before RT, the incidence of sinusitis in maxillary and anterior/posterior ethmoid, sphenoid and frontal sinuses was 87.1%, 90.0%/87.1%, 49.5%, 11.8% respectively, 1 month after RT. (4) A regression model was established according to the univariate and multivariate analysis of the factors related to RIS (smoking history: p = 0.000, time after RT: p = 0.008 and TNM staging: p = 0.040). Conclusion (1) RIS is a common complication in NPC patients after RT. This disorder progressed within 6 months after RT, stabilized and persisted within 6 months to 2 years. There is a high incidence of maxillary sinus and ethmoid sinus inflammation in NPC patients after RT. (2) Smoking history, time after RT and TNM staging were significant independent risk factors for RIS. (3) The intervention of the risk factors in the model may prevent or reduce the occurrence of RIS in NPC patients
