    Long time clinical outcomes of limus-eluting stent versus paclitaxel-eluting stent in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary artery intervention: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled clinical trials

    Background: The meta-analysis was aimed to compare the long time (> 2 year) clinical outcomes of limus-based stents (LBS) and paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES). LBS and PES are two kinds of most common coronary artery stents in clinics.Methods: Electronic data bases of PubMed, Cochrane, and EMBASE were searched. We included randomized controlled clinical trials (RCT) comparing LBS and PES with long time clinical outcomes. Methodological quality of eligible trials was assessed using “risk of bias” tool. The efficacy endpoints included target lesion revascularization (TLR), target vessel revascularization (TVR), and stent thrombosis (ST), and the safety endpoints included all cause death, cardiac death, and myocardial infarction (MI). Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated for each endpoint.Results: A total of 23 RCTs and 19,319 participants were included and analyzed in this meta-analysis. All trials were of an acceptable quality. At 2 years, LBS showed reduced risk of revascularization and ST (TLR: OR = 0.59, 95% CI 0.44–0.78; TVR: OR = 0.63, 95% CI 0.55–0.71; ST: OR = 0.55, 95% CI 0.41–0.73) and a lower rate of MI (OR = 0.67, 95% CI 0.57–0.79). Subgroup analysis showed that both everolimus-eluting stents and sirolimus-eluting stents had better clinical outcomes compared with PES. The comparisons of 3, 4 and 5 year follow-up results revealed that the clinical outcomes of PES were non-inferior to those of LBS but LBS was associated with reduced risk of MI and ST at 3 years.Conclusions: LBS is associated with better clinical outcomes at 2 years. Both LBS and PES showed similar efficacy and safety at long time period.

    The aim of this study was to compare the value of superb microvascular imaging (SMI) in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) with that of color Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS) and power Doppler ultrasonography (PDUS).Fifty patients with symptomatic CTS and 25 healthy volunteers were enrolled. The cross-sectional area (CSA), CDUS score, PDUS score, and SMI score of the median nerve (MN) at the carpal tunnel were recorded. The value of different ultrasonography (US) diagnostic strategies was calculated.The blood flow display ratio in the MN of the healthy volunteers had no statistical difference between CDUS, PDUS, and SMI (20%, 32%, and 48%, respectively, P \u3e.05). The blood flow display ratio for SMI in patients was significantly higher than that of CDUS and PDUS (90%, 52%, and 60%, respectively,

    A Calculation Method for Quantitative X-Ray Microanalysis for Microparticle Specimens by Monte Carlo Simulation

    A calculation method for quantitative X-ray microanalysis (QXMA) for microparticle specimens of a compound with various shapes is proposed in this paper. On the basis of a simplified physical model, the scattering of electrons in particles is calculated by Monte Carlo simulation. We have derived a series of evaluation formulae of the absorption and fluorescence of characteristic X-rays for the particles with regular shapes. With the use of these theories, along with an iteration calculation, compositions of microparticle specimens can be obtained from the measured X-ray intensity ratios. In order to examine the reliability of the method, a large number of electron probe experiments and analysis calculations were carried out for the microparticle specimens of a variety of geometric shapes, dimensions and compositions. Agreement of calculated concentrations using our method with known compositions of the analyzed particle specimens is fairly good. In practical work, calculation formulae for particle specimens with irregular shapes can be replaced by those of particles with approximate regular shapes

    Enhanced mechanical, thermal and flame retardant properties by combining graphene nanosheets and metal hydroxide nanorods for Acrylonitrile–Butadiene–Styrene copolymer composite

    Three metal hydroxide nanorods (MHR) with uniform diameters were synthesized, and then combined with graphene nanosheets (GNS) to prepare acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS) copolymer composites. An excellent dispersion of exfoliated two-dimensional (2-D) GNS and 1-D MHR in the ABS matrix was achieved. The effects of combined GNS and MHR on the mechanical, thermal and flame retardant properties of the ABS composites were investigated. With the addition of 2 wt% GNS and 4 wt% Co(OH)2, the tensile strength, bending strength and storage modulus of the ABS composites were increased by 45.1%, 40.5% and 42.3% respectively. The ABS/GNS/Co(OH)2 ternary composite shows the lowest maximum weight loss rate and highest residue yield. Noticeable reduction in the flammability was achieved with the addition of GNS and Co(OH)2, due to the formation of more continuous and compact charred layers that retarded the mass and heat transfer between the flame and the polymer matrix

    OptSample: A Resilient Buffer Management Policy for Robotic Systems based on Optimal Message Sampling

    Modern robotic systems have become an alternative to humans to perform risky or exhausting tasks. In such application scenarios, communications between robots and the control center have become one of the major problems. Buffering is a commonly used solution to relieve temporary network disruption. But the assumption that newer messages are more valuable than older ones is not true for many application scenarios such as explorations, rescue operations, and surveillance. In this paper, we proposed a novel resilient buffer management policy named OptSample. It can uniformly sampling messages and dynamically adjust the sample rate based on run-time network situation. We define an evaluation function to estimate the profit of a message sequence. Based on the function, our analysis and simulation shows that the OptSample policy can effectively prevent losing long segment of continuous messages and improve the overall profit of the received messages. We implement the proposed policy in ROS. The implementation is transparent to user and no user code need to be changed. Experimental results on several application scenarios show that the OptSample policy can help robotic systems be more resilient against network disruption
