    The role of financial flexibility on enterprise sustainable development during the COVID-19 crisis– A consideration of tangible assets

    [[abstract]]Financial flexibility refers to the ability of a firm to respond effectively to unanticipated shocks to its cash flows or its investment opportunities and is a key factor in the sustainable development of enterprise. This article explores the effect of financial flexibility on the enterprise performance of Taiwan’s manufacturing industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data for the first and second quarter of 2020 from companies listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange were collected and analyzed. The results indicate that for listed manufacturing companies on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, financial flexibility has a significant and positive effect on enterprise performance (return on assets, ROA), particularly in the asset-heavy manufacturing industry. However, financial flexibility has no significant effect on the enterprise performance of the asset-light manufacturing industry or the semiconductor industry. This study also show evidence that Taiwan’s asset-light manufacturing industry suffered the most from the COVID-19 crisis, which is not conducive to its sustainable development. In summary, the results show that Taiwan’s manufacturing industry has poor financial flexibility and one of the worst ROA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the results of this research, effective suggestions to rationally retain financial flexibility and pay more attention to liquidity risk management for sustainable development are proposed for Taiwan’s manufacturing industry.[[notice]]補正完

    Performance Analysis of MDMA-Based Cooperative MRC Networks with Relays in Dissimilar Rayleigh Fading Channels

    Multiple access technology is a key technology in various generations of wireless communication systems. As a potential multiple access technology for the next generation wireless communication systems, model division multiple access (MDMA) technology improves spectrum efficiency and feasibility regions. This implies that the MDMA scheme can achieve greater performance gains compared to traditional schemes. Relayassisted cooperative networks, as a infrastructure of wireless communication, can effectively utilize resources and improve performance when MDMA is applied. In this paper, a communication relay cooperative network based on MDMA in dissimilar rayleigh fading channels is proposed, which consists of two source nodes, any number of decode-and-forward (DF) relay nodes, and one destination node, as well as using the maximal ratio combining (MRC) at the destination to combine the signals received from the source and relays. By applying the state transition matrix (STM) and moment generating function (MGF), closed-form analytical solutions for outage probability and resource utilization efficiency are derived.     Climate Change Impacts on North Dakota: Agriculture and Hydrology

    North Dakota is one of the principal producers of agricultural commodities in the USA, including over half of the total spring wheat production. While the region includes some of the best agricultural lands in the world, the steep temperature and precipitation gradients also make it one of the most sensitive to climate change. Over the 20th century, both the temperature and the pattern of precipitation in the state have changed; one of the most dramatic examples of the consequences of this change is the Devils Lake flooding. In two studies, we estimated the climate change impacts on crop yields and on the hydrology of the Devils Lake basin. The projections of six GCMs, driven by three SRES scenarios were statistically downscaled for multiple locations throughout the state, for the 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s climate. Averaged over all GCMs, there is a small increase in precipitation, by 0.6 - 1.1% in 2020s, 3.1 - 3.5% in 2050s, and 3.0 - 7.6% in 2080s. This change in precipitation varies with the seasons, with cold seasons becoming wetter and warm seasons not changing
