A New Phase Transition Related to the Black Hole's Topological Charge

The topological charge ϵ\epsilon of AdS black hole is introduced in Ref.[1,2], where a complete thermodynamic first law is obtained. In this paper, we investigate a new phase transition related to the topological charge in Einstein-Maxwell theory. Firstly, we derive the explicit solutions corresponding to the divergence of specific heat CϵC_{\epsilon} and determine the phase transition critical point. Secondly, the TrT-r curve and TST-S curve are investigated and they exhibit an interesting van der Waals system's behavior. Critical physical quantities are also obtained which are consistent with those derived from the specific heat analysis. Thirdly, a van der Waals system's swallow tail behavior is observed when ϵ>ϵc\epsilon>\epsilon_{c} in the FTF-T graph. What's more, the analytic phase transition coexistence lines are obtained by using the Maxwell equal area law and free energy analysis, the results of which are consistent with each other.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure

Attractive Interaction between Vortex and Anti-vortex in Holographic Superfluid

Annihilation process of a pair of vortices in holographic superfluid is numerically simulated. The process is found to consist of two stages which are amazingly separated by vortex size 2r2r. The separation distance δ(t)\delta(t) between vortex and anti-vortex as a function of time is well fitted by α(t0t)n\alpha (t_{0}-t)^{n}, where the scaling exponent n=1/2n=1/2 for δ(t)>2r\delta (t)>2r, and n=2/5n=2/5 for δ(t)<2r\delta(t)<2r. Then the approaching velocity and acceleration as functions of time and as functions of separation distance are obtained. Thus the attractive force between vortex and anti-vortex is derived as f(δ)1/δ3f(\delta)\propto 1/\delta^{3} for the first stage, and f(δ)1/δ4f(\delta)\propto 1/\delta^{4} for the second stage. In the end, we explained why the annihilation rate of vortices in turbulent superfluid system obeys the two-body decay law when the vortex density is low.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure

Model and Topological Characteristics of Power Distribution System Security Region

    Get PDF
As an important tool of transmission system dispatching, the region-based method has just been introduced into distribution area with the ongoing smart distribution grid initiatives. First, a more accurate distribution system security region (DSSR) model is proposed. The proposed model is based on detailed feeder-interconnected topology, and both substation transformer and feeder N-1 contingencies are considered. Second, generic characteristics of DSSR are discussed and mathematically proved. That is, DSSR is a dense set of which boundary has no suspension and can be expressed by several union subsurfaces. Finally, the results from both a test case and a practical case demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling approach; the shape of DSSR is also illustrated by means of 2- and 3-dimensional visualization. Moreover, the DSSR-based assessment and control are preliminary illustrated to show the application of DSSR. The researches in this paper are fundamental work to develop new security region theory for future distribution systems

Temperature and impurity effects of the polaron in an asymmetric quantum dot

    Get PDF
We study the temperature and impurity effects of the ground state energy and the ground state binding energy in an asymmetric quantum dot by using the liner combination operator method. It is found that the ground state energy and the ground state binding energy will increase with increasing the temperature. The ground state ener-gy is a decreasing function of the Coulomb bound potential, whereas the ground state binding energy is an in-creasing one of it

An Efficient Dynamic Multi-Sources To Single-Destination (DMS-SD) Algorithm In Smart City Navigation Using Adjacent Matrix

Dijkstra's algorithm is one of the most popular classic path planning algorithms, achieving optimal solutions across a wide range of challenging tasks. However, it only calculates the shortest distance from one vertex to another, which is hard to directly apply to the Dynamic Multi-Sources to Single-Destination (DMS-SD) problem. This paper proposes a modified Dijkstra algorithm to address the DMS-SD problem, where the destination can be dynamically changed. Our method deploys the concept of Adjacent Matrix from Floyd's algorithm and achieves the goal with mathematical calculations. We formally show that all-pairs shortest distance information in Floyd's algorithm is not required in our algorithm. Extensive experiments verify the scalability and optimality of the proposed method.Comment: International Conference On Human-Centered Cognitive Systems (HCCS) 202

The anion of the title compound, C5H6N+·C5H2NO4S−, is approximately planar, with the carboxylate and nitro group planes forming dihedral angles of 7.5 (3) and 3.5 (3)°, respectively, with the thiophene ring. In the crystal structure, the cations and anions are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to (011) by N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

Erchen Decoction Prevents High-Fat Diet Induced Metabolic Disorders in C57BL/6 Mice

Erchen decoction (ECD) is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, which is used in the treatment of obesity, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases caused by retention of phlegm dampness. In this study we investigated the potential mechanism of ECD, using metabolism-disabled mice induced by high-fat diet. Body weight and abdominal circumference were detected. OGTT was measured by means of collecting blood samples from the tail vein. Blood lipid levels and insulin were measured using biochemical assay kit. Real-time PCR was used to measure the CDKAL1 gene expression and western blot was used to measure the protein expression. Through the research, it was found that ECD showed markedly lower body weight and abdominal circumference than those in the HFD group. Consistently, we observed that ECD significantly improved glucose tolerance, promoted the secretion of insulin and decreased the level of TG, TC level. Meanwhile, we observed significantly increased CDKAL1 mRNA and protein level in the ECD group. Therefore, we speculate that the potential molecular mechanism of ECD is to promote the CDKAL1 expression, ameliorate islet cell function, and raise insulin levels to regulate the metabolic disorder
