The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene and heterocyclic rings is 86.1 (7)°. An intra­molecular C—H⋯O inter­action occurs. In the crystal, mol­ecules are linked by inter­molecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite chain along the c axis

    Impact Of Urbanization On Spatial And Temporal Variation Of Rainfall In Beijing Over The Last 50 Years

    Rainfall is one of the key terms involved in many hydrological processes, and it is particularly important in the field of urban hydrology. It is well known that urbanization can have potential impact on precipitation process due to the changes it causes to the ground roughness, thermal-dynamics and many other factors. In this study, the focus is set on the impact on the precipitation patterns in Beijing in term of spatial and temporal variation, from the urbanization over last 50 years in which time the fast and continuous expansion of the city at dramatic scales, the rapid growth of residents population as well as human activities especially building of ground constructions, collectively and inevitably bring changes to the local climatic characteristics of the urbanized areas. This study looks at the two periods according to the speed of urbanization, namely the slow urbanization period of 1957-1980 and the fast urbanization period of 1981-2010. Rainfall data collected from the representative rain gauges across the region is used to analyze the spatial and temporal variation over these two periods. The results show that precipitation in urban areas exhibits the characteristics of higher intensity, shorter duration, with the rainfall mainly concentrated in 60 min or so. Local short-duration rainstorms tend to occur more frequently. Compared with suburban areas, urbanization has significant effect, especially on short-duration precipitation events evidenced by remarkable difference between the coefficients of variation of urban rainfall and those of the suburbs. In addition, for the fast urbanization period, the spatially localized, highly intensive rainfall events are found to be more frequent. Therefore, urbanization of the city has caused increase of the strong convective weather and pressure of flood control drainage, which should be paid more attentions to in city planning

    Empirical study on clique-degree distribution of networks

    The community structure and motif-modular-network hierarchy are of great importance for understanding the relationship between structures and functions. In this paper, we investigate the distribution of clique-degree, which is an extension of degree and can be used to measure the density of cliques in networks. The empirical studies indicate the extensive existence of power-law clique-degree distributions in various real networks, and the power-law exponent decreases with the increasing of clique size.Comment: 9 figures, 4 page

    Heat Shock Protein 70 Protects the Heart from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury through Inhibition of p38 MAPK Signaling.

    BackgroundHeat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) has been shown to exert cardioprotection. Intracellular calcium ([Ca2+]i) overload induced by p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) activation contributes to cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, whether Hsp70 interacts with p38 MAPK signaling is unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the regulation of p38 MAPK by Hsp70 in I/R-induced cardiac injury.MethodsNeonatal rat cardiomyocytes were subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation for 6 h followed by 2 h reoxygenation (OGD/R), and rats underwent left anterior artery ligation for 30 min followed by 30 min of reperfusion. The p38 MAPK inhibitor (SB203580), Hsp70 inhibitor (Quercetin), and Hsp70 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) were used prior to OGD/R or I/R. Cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI), [Ca2+]i levels, cell apoptosis, myocardial infarct size, mRNA level of IL-1β and IL-6, and protein expression of Hsp70, phosphorylated p38 MAPK (p-p38 MAPK), sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase2 (SERCA2), phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription3 (p-STAT3), and cleaved caspase3 were assessed.ResultsPretreatment with a p38 MAPK inhibitor, SB203580, significantly attenuated OGD/R-induced cell injury or I/R-induced myocardial injury, as evidenced by improved cell viability and lower LDH release, resulted in lower serum cTnI and myocardial infarct size, alleviation of [Ca2+]i overload and cell apoptosis, inhibition of IL-1β and IL-6, and modulation of protein expressions of p-p38 MAPK, SERCA2, p-STAT3, and cleaved-caspase3. Knockdown of Hsp70 by shRNA exacerbated OGD/R-induced cell injury, which was effectively abolished by SB203580. Moreover, inhibition of Hsp70 by quercetin enhanced I/R-induced myocardial injury, while SB203580 pretreatment reversed the harmful effects caused by quercetin.ConclusionsInhibition of Hsp70 aggravates [Ca2+]i overload, inflammation, and apoptosis through regulating p38 MAPK signaling during cardiac I/R injury, which may help provide novel insight into cardioprotective strategies

    Multi-point geostatistics for ore grade estimation

    A multi-point geostatistical method for ore grade estimation is introduced in order to fully utilize existing sampling information. A block model is used to construct a new three-dimensional training image instead of a variogram. Data events and pattern matching is improved, and the directionality of the data template is considered in the matching. The inverse distance weighted method is used to make up for the lack of multi-point geostatistics. The research improves the reliability of multi-point geostatistical estimation. Optimal estimation results for Li2O and Ta2O5 come from the inverse distance weighted, ordinary Kriging, and multi-point geostatistical methods. Multi-point geostatistical estimation results are compared with those of the inverse distance weighted and ordinary Kriging methods. Deviation, trend, and variogram analyses are used to assess the effect of multipoint geostatistical estimation. This study shows that reducing the samples participating in the estimation can reduce the maximum and minimum deviation of the estimated grade to a certain extent. The grade distribution pattern is the primary factor affecting minimum and maximum deviation. This study proves the reliability and accuracy of the multi-point geostatistical method for ore grade estimation.</p

    Dependence on the structure and surface polarity of ZnS photocatalytic activities of water splitting: first-principles calculations

    It has been reported that phase structure and surface polarity largely affect the photocatalytic efficiency of semiconductor nanostructures. To understand the chemical activity of ZnS at the electronic level, we investigate electron structures and carrier transportation ability for bulk intrinsic zinc blende (ZB) and wurtzite (WZ) ZnS, as well as the reaction pathway of hydrogen generation from water splitting on Zn- and S-terminated polar surfaces. The electron structure calculations prove that the WZ phase possesses a higher reducing ability than the ZB phase. The conductivity of the bulk ZB phase surpasses that of the WZ phase at or above room temperature. As the temperature increases, the asymptotic conductivity ratio of WZ/ZB is close to the Golden Ratio, 0.62. Reaction kinetics studies indicate that Zn-terminated polar surfaces are more chemically active than S-terminated polar surfaces in the reaction of hydrogen generation from water splitting. The calculation results suggest that the first H splitting from water on Zn-terminated polar surfaces can occur with ground state electronic structures, while photo-assistance is necessary for the first H splitting on the S-terminated surfaces. Electronic triplet states calculations further show that Zn-terminated surfaces are more photosensitive than S-terminated surfaces
