Neutron Density Distributions of Neutron-Rich Nuclei Studied with the Isobaric Yield Ratio Difference

The isobaric yield ratio difference (IBD) between two reactions of similar experimental setups is found to be sensitive to nuclear density differences between projectiles. In this article, the IBD probe is used to study the density variation in neutron-rich 48^{48}Ca. By adjusting diffuseness in the neutron density distribution, three different neutron density distributions of 48^{48}Ca are obtained. The yields of fragments in the 80AA MeV 40,48^{40, 48}Ca + 12^{12}C reactions are calculated by using a modified statistical abrasion-ablation model. It is found that the IBD results obtained from the prefragments are sensitive to the density distribution of the projectile, while the IBD results from the final fragments are less sensitive to the density distribution of the projectile.Comment: 3 figure

AbstractCu/Co, Cu/NiFe, Ta/NiFe bilayers and Co/Cu/Co, Co/Cu/NiFe, Co/Ta/NiFe sandwich films were deposited by a magnetron sputtering method. Magnetic properties were evaluated by VSM and spin valve magnet oresistance was investigated by a four-probe method to study the interlayer coupling of the two magnetic layers. It has been found that the interlayer coupling depended not only on the layer thickness of the nonmagnetic spacer but also on the nature of the spacer. The interlayer coupling was reduced as the spacer layer thickness increased. The result was consistent with those from observations of the magnetic domain for the trilayers by means of Lorentz Electron Microscope. The trilayers with Cu spacer layer have shown a stronger coupling than those with Ta spacer layer

AbstractVirtual battlefield environment is the use of computer technology, graphics technology and virtual reality technology to the real battle space in the computer. As technology advances and development, virtual battlefield environment system has been applied more and more combat troops and combat command being. Virtual Battlefield Environment Simulation System is a system for the commander to provide a realistic battlefield environment to facilitate their understanding of the terrain, the battlefield awareness information. In this paper, two-dimensional battlefield maps based on MapObject structures and the construction of three-dimensional virtual battlefield environment problem, a second, three-dimensional virtual battlefield environment with the rapid construction techniques. Operational commanders can quickly build a virtual battlefield, not only from the macro real-time battlefield information and to grasp the battlefield situation, but also learned from the battlefield of detailed microscopic details

Geometry and optics calibration of WFCTA prototype telescopes using star light

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory project is proposed to study high energy gamma ray astronomy ( 40 GeV-1 PeV ) and cosmic ray physics ( 20 TeV-1 EeV ). The wide field of view Cherenkov telescope array, as a component of the LHAASO project, will be used to study energy spectrum and compositions of cosmic ray by measuring the total Cherenkov light generated by air showers and shower maximum depth. Two prototype telescopes have been in operation since 2008. The pointing accuracy of each telescope is crucial to the direction reconstruction of the primary particles. On the other hand the primary energy reconstruction relies on the shape of the Cherenkov image on the camera and the unrecorded photons due to the imperfect connections between photomultiplier tubes. UV bright stars are used as point-like objects to calibrate the pointing and to study the optical properties of the camera, the spot size and the fractions of unrecorded photons in the insensitive areas of the camera.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Chinese Physics

The Plant Heat Stress Transcription Factors (HSFs): Structure, Regulation, and Function in Response to Abiotic Stresses

    Get PDF
Abiotic stresses such as high temperature, salinity and drought adversely affect the survival, growth and reproduction of plants. Plants respond to such unfavorable changes through developmental, physiological and biochemical ways, and these responses require expression of stress-responsive genes, which are regulated by a network of transcription factors (TFs), including heat stress transcription factors (HSFs). HSFs play a crucial role in plants response to several abiotic stresses by regulating the expression of stress-responsive genes, such as heat shock proteins (Hsps). In this review, we describe the conserved structure of plant HSFs, the identification of HSF gene families from various plant species, their expression profiling under abiotic stress conditions, regulation at different levels and function in abiotic stresses. Despite plant HSFs share highly conserved structure, their remarkable diversification across plants reflects their numerous functions as well as their integration into the complex stress signaling and response networks, which can be employed in crop improvement strategies via biotechnological intervention

Background: The demand for the chemopreventive drug from the plant source is increasing in recent times, owing to its various biological activities without any adverse effect. The intention of this current study was to examine the antiglioma effect of Withaferin A (WFA) on C6 glioma cell line model.Materials and Methods: C6 glioma cells were administrated with different concentration of WFA (50, 100, 200 and 500 μg/mL) and DMSO (control) group to examine its anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory and pro-apoptotic activities. Results: Treatment with WFA showed a significant decline in the glioma cell count in a dose-dependent manner and thus proving its anti-proliferative effect. Similarly, inflammatory markers were also substantially lowered upon treatment with different concentration of WFA. However, DNA fragmentation and apoptotic markers like Caspase-3 and 9 were concomitantly enhanced after co-cultured with different concentration of WFA and thus exhibiting its cytotoxicity efficacy. Furthermore, the protein expression of Bcl2 and Bax were markedly downregulated and upregulated respectively; upon treatment with WFA on C6 glioma cells. Conclusion: The outcome of this study evidently demonstrates that C6 glioma cells co-cultured with increased concentration of WFA, showed an anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory and pro-apoptotic effect in a dose-dependent fashion. Keywords: Withaferin A, C6 glioma cells, anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, caspase, apoptosi

Improvement of Sciatic Nerve Regeneration Using Laminin-Binding Human NGF-β

    Get PDF
Sciatic nerve injuries often cause partial or total loss of motor, sensory and autonomic functions due to the axon discontinuity, degeneration, and eventual death which finally result in substantial functional loss and decreased quality of life. Nerve growth factor (NGF) plays a critical role in peripheral nerve regeneration. However, the lack of efficient NGF delivery approach limits its clinical applications. We reported here by fusing with the N-terminal domain of agrin (NtA), NGF-β could target to nerve cells and improve nerve regeneration. was also measured. Using the rat sciatic nerve crush injury model, the nerve repair and functional restoration by utilizing LBD-NGF were tested.. In the rat sciatic nerve crush injury model, we found that LBD-NGF could be retained and concentrated at the nerve injury sites to promote nerve repair and enhance functional restoration following nerve damages.Fused with NtA, NGF-β could bind to laminin specifically. Since laminin is the major component of nerve extracellular matrix, laminin binding NGF could target to nerve cells and improve the repair of peripheral nerve injuries
