Large-time Behavior of Solutions to the Inflow Problem of Full Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations
Large-time behavior of solutions to the inflow problem of full compressible
Navier-Stokes equations is investigated on the half line .
The wave structure which contains four waves: the transonic(or degenerate)
boundary layer solution, 1-rarefaction wave, viscous 2-contact wave and
3-rarefaction wave to the inflow problem is described and the asymptotic
stability of the superposition of the above four wave patterns to the inflow
problem of full compressible Navier-Stokes equations is proven under some
smallness conditions. The proof is given by the elementary energy analysis
based on the underlying wave structure. The main points in the proof are the
degeneracies of the transonic boundary layer solution and the wave interactions
in the superposition wave.Comment: 27 page
Understanding of double-curvature shaped magnetoimpedance profiles in Joule-annealed and tensioned microwires at 8-12 GHz
We have investigated for the first time the combined effect of current and
stress on the GMI characteristics of vanishing-magnetostrictive Co-rich
microwires at microwave frequency. As the current-annealed wire is subject to
certain tensile stress, one can observe a drastic transformation of field
dependence of MI profiles from smooth shape of a broad peak to deformed shape
of a sharp peak with the emergence of a kink on each side. It follows that
three different regions- core, inner and outer shell -have been formed by the
combined effect of Joule annealing, current generated magnetic field and the
tensile stress. A critical field sees a drop of field sensitivity from outer to
inner shell and shifts to lower value with increasing annealing current. We
successfully adapted our core-shell model to a core-shell-shell model by
designating different anisotropy field for each region to satisfactorily
resolve the unique double-curvature shaped peaks in the field derivative MI

Segregation of copper in an Fe–Cu alloy under pulsed electric current
Effect of electric current on the segregation of copper precipitates in the Fe–13.6Cu alloy is evaluated. Results of this approach present two stages of segregation, namely, grain-boundary segregation during the solidification and interphase-boundary segregation during the decomposition of a solid solution. The segregation becomes apparent not only because the thermodynamic barrier for segregation is decreased, but also because the diffusion is greatly enhanced. Based on the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects, the segregation process under electric current would be of great interest and of physical importance because this kind of electric current-induced segregation was much stronger than the thermal diffusion segregation
Construction and analysis of a suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) library of genic multiple-allele inherited male-sterility in Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. pekinensis)
Utilization of male sterility is a key method for producing crossbred Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis (Lour.) Olsson. In this study, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) was used to construct sterility and fertility cDNA libraries, which included differentially, expressed clones between fertile and sterile buds of the A/B line ‘AB01’. The positive clones were randomly selected by polymerase chain reaction amplification (PCR) and 25 high quality sequences (22 from the fertile-tester library and three from the sterile-tester libraries) were generated. The fragment lengths varied from 77 to 469 bp. Differential expression patterns between fertile and sterile buds were selected and verified using five expressed sequence tags (ESTs). Results indicated that, three ESTs were expressed only in fertile buds and two ESTs were down-regulated in sterile buds. According to the Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) screening and functional annotation, the 25 ESTs were homologous to known sequences deposited in National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). These genes had homology to known proteins such as flowers/buds development proteins, metabolic-related proteins, cell structure proteins, cell growth/division proteins and secondary metabolic-related proteins. The results suggested that, these proteins played a critical role in nuclear male sterility progression of genic multiple-allele inherited male-sterility in Chinese cabbage.Key words: Chinese cabbage, male sterility, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), expressed sequence tags (ESTs)
