Hurst parameter analysis of radio pulsar timing noise
We present an analysis of timing residual (noise) of 54 pulsars obtained from
25-m radio telescope at Urumqi Observatory with a time span of 5~8 years,
dealing with statistics of the Hurst parameter. The majority of these pulsars
were selected to have timing noise that look like white noise rather than
smooth curves. The results are compared with artificial series of different
constant pairwise covariances. Despite the noise like appearance, many timing
residual series showed Hurst parameters significantly deviated from that of
independent series. We concluded that Hurst parameter may be capable of
detecting dependence in timing residual and of distinguishing chaotic behavior
from random processes.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables, Submitted to MNRA
Enhanced Room Temperature Coefficient of Resistance and Magneto-resistance of Ag-added La0.7Ca0.3-xBaxMnO3 Composites
In this paper we report an enhanced temperature coefficient of resistance
(TCR) close to room temperature in La0.7Ca0.3-xBaxMnO3 + Agy (x = 0.10, 0.15
and y = 0.0 to 0.40) (LCBMO+Ag) composite manganites. The observed enhancement
of TCR is attributed to the grain growth and opening of new conducting channels
in the composites. Ag addition has also been found to enhance intra-granular
magneto-resistance. Inter-granular MR, however, is seen to decrease with Ag
addition. The enhanced TCR and MR at / near room temperature open up the
possibility of the use of such materials as infrared bolometric and magnetic
field sensors respectively.Comment: 22 pages of Text +

An Ultra-fast DOA Estimator with Circular Array Interferometer Using Lookup Table Method
The time-consuming phase ambiguity resolution makes the uniform circular array (UCA) interferometer not suitable for real-time direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation. This paper introduces the lookup table (LUT) method to solve this problem. The key of the method is that we look up the ambiguity numbers instead of the eventual DOA from the table, and then the DOA is obtained by relatively small amount of calculation. This makes it possible that we are able to shrink the table size while maintain the DOA estimation accuracy. The table addresses cover all possible measured phase differences (PDs), which enables the method to be free of spatial scanning. Moreover, without adding frequency index to the lookup table, the estimator can realize wideband application. As an example, a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) based DOA estimator with the estimation time of 180 ns is presented, accompanied by the measured results. This method possesses the advantages of ultra-high speed, high accuracy and low memory usage
Influence of an external magnetic field on the decoherence of a central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment
Using the spin wave approximation, we study the decoherence dynamics of a
central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment under the application
of an external global magnetic field. The external magnetic field affects the
decoherence process through its effect on the antiferromagnetic environment. It
is shown explicitly that the decoherence factor which displays a Gaussian decay
with time depends on the strength of the external magnetic field and the
crystal anisotropy field in the antiferromagnetic environment. When the values
of the external magnetic field is increased to the critical field point at
which the spin-flop transition (a first-order quantum phase transition) happens
in the antiferromagnetic environment, the decoherence of the central spin
reaches its highest point. This result is consistent with several recent
quantum phase transition witness studies. The influences of the environmental
temperature on the decoherence behavior of the central spin are also
investigated.Comment: 29 preprint pages, 4 figures, to appear in New Journal of Physic
H-Dihyperon in Quark Cluster Model
The H dihyperon (DH) is studied in the framework of the SU(3) chiral quark
model. It is shown that except the chiral field, the overall effect of
the other SU(3) chiral fields is destructive in forming a stable DH. The
resultant mass of DH in a three coupled channel calculation is ranged from 2225
to 2234 .Comment: 9 pages, emte
Delay-dependent robust stability of stochastic delay systems with Markovian switching
In recent years, stability of hybrid stochastic delay systems, one of the important issues in the study of stochastic systems, has received considerable attention. However, the existing results do not deal with the structure of the diffusion but estimate its upper bound, which induces conservatism. This paper studies delay-dependent robust stability of hybrid stochastic delay systems. A delay-dependent criterion for robust exponential stability of hybrid stochastic delay systems is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which exploits the structure of the diffusion. Numerical examples are given to verify the effectiveness and less conservativeness of the proposed method
