Precision measurements in nuclear {\beta}-decay with LPCTrap

The experimental achievements and the current program with the LPCTrap device installed at the LIRAT beam line of the SPIRAL1-GANIL facility are presented. The device is dedicated to the study of the weak interaction at low energy by means of precise measurements of the {\beta}-{\nu} angular correlation parameter. Technical aspects as well as the main results are reviewed. The future program with new available beams is briefly discussed.Comment: Annalen der Physik (2013

Studying minijets via the pTp_T dependence of two-particle correlation in azimuthal angle Ï•\phi

Following my previous proposal that two-particle correlation functions can be used to resolve the minijet contribution to particle production in minimum biased events of high energy hadronic interactions, I study the pTp_T and energy dependence of the correlation. Using HIJING Monte Carlo model, it is found that the correlation c(ϕ1,ϕ2)c(\phi_1,\phi_2) in azimuthal angle ϕ\phi between two particles with pT>pTcutp_T>p_T^{cut} resembles much like two back-to-back jets as pTcutp_T^{cut} increases at high colliding energies due to minijet production. It is shown that c(0,0)−c(0,π)c(0,0)-c(0,\pi), which is related to the relative fraction of particles from minijets, increases with energy. The background of the correlation for fixed pTcutp_T^{cut} also grows with energy due to the increase of multiple minijet production. Application of this analysis to the study of jet quenching in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions is also discussed.Comment: 11 pages Latex text and 8 ps figures, LBL-3349

On substitutions closed under derivation: examples

We study infinite words fixed by a morphism and their derived words. A derived word is a coding of return words to a factor. We exhibit two examples of sets of morphisms which are closed under derivation --- any derived word with respect to any factor of the fixed point is again fixed by a morphism from this set. The first example involves standard episturmian morphisms, and the second concerns the period doubling morphism.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figures, submitted to Words 201

Entanglement Degree of Parasupersymmetric Coherent States of Harmonic Oscillator

We study the boson-parafermion entanglement of the parasupersymmetric coherent states of the harmonic oscillator and derive the degree of entanglement in terms of the concurrence. The conditions for obtaining the maximal entanglement is also examined, and it is shown that in the usual supersymmetry situation we can obtain maximally entangled Bell states.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figur
