    Research on road object detection algorithm based on improved YOLOX

    Road object detection is an important branch of automatic driving technology, The model with higher detection accuracy is more conducive to the safe driving of vehicles. In road object detection, the omission of small objects and occluded objects is an important problem. therefore, reducing the missed rate of the object is of great significance for safe driving. In the work of this paper, based on the YOLOX object detection algorithm to improve, proposes DecIoU boundary box regression loss function to improve the shape consistency of the predicted and real box, and Push Loss is introduced to further optimize the boundary box regression loss function, in order to detect more occluded objects. In addition, the dynamic anchor box mechanism is also used to improve the accuracy of the confidence label, improve the label inaccuracy of object detection model without anchor box. A large number of experiments on KITTI dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the improved YOLOX-s achieved 88.9% mAP and 91.0% mAR on the KITTI dataset, compared to the baseline version improvements of 2.77% and 4.24%; the improved YOLOX-m achieved 89.1% mAP and 91.4% mAR, compared to the baseline version improvements of 2.30% and 4.10%.Comment: 9 pages; in Chines

    Exploring the dynamic changes between pulmonary and cutaneous sarcoidosis based on gene expression

    Sarcoidosis is a disease involving the growth of abnormal inflammatory granulomas and affecting multisystems. It has an unknown etiology. The lung and the skin are the most commonly involved organs. Although large amounts of research have focused on the pathogenesis of sarcoidosis, little is known about the link between cutaneous sarcoidosis and pulmonary sarcoidosis. Moreover, the gene expression profiles provide a novel way to find diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in pulmonary sarcoidosis and cutaneous sarcoidosis patients and to compare them to healthy individuals. DEGs and their biological functions are dynamically dysregulated, and several common disease-related genes and mutual disease progression-related genes were identified which linked pulmonary sarcoidosis and cutaneous sarcoidosis together. The biological functional pathways regulated by these DEGs may allow to define the common mechanism shared by different type of sarcoidosis, providing novel insight into the common pathogenesis of sarcoidosis and opening the way to the development of new therapeutic strategies

    miR-34a Inhibits Cell Proliferation by Targeting SATB2 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

    Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of malignancy of the liver and has been reported as the third most frequent cause of cancer associated death worldwide. Accumulating evidence showed that the expression of miR-34a was abnormal in HCC patients; however, the role of miR-34a in HCC is not clear. In this study, we have observed low expression of the miR-34a in both HCC tissues and hepatoma cell line as compared to normal control. Further to investigate the role of miR-34a in HCC development, HepG2 cells were transfected with miR-34a mimic. Following transfection, miR-34a expression was significantly increased, which further repressed proliferation of HepG2 cells. Bioinformatics, Luciferase Reporter, RT-qPCR, and western blotting assays indicated that special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-2 (SATB2) is a direct target of miR-34a in HCC cells. There was a negative correlation between the expression levels of SATB2 and miR-34a. Investigation into the molecular mechanism indicated that miR-34a regulated cell proliferation through inhibiting SATB2. Therefore, the results of the present study may improve understanding regarding the role of miR-34a in regulating cell proliferation and contribute to the development of novel therapy of HCC

    Enzyme-Mimic Activity of Ferric Nano-Core Residing in Ferritin and Its Biosensing Applications

    Ferritins are nanoscale globular protein cages encapsulating a ferric core. They widely exist in animals, plants, and microbes, playing indispensable roles in iron homeostasis. Interestingly, our study clearly demonstrates that ferritin has an enzyme-mimic activity derived from its ferric nanocore but not the protein cage. Further study revealed that the mimic-enzyme activity of ferritin is more thermally stable and pH-tolerant compared with horseradish peroxidase. Considering the abundance of ferritin in numerous organisms, this finding may indicate a new role of ferritin in antioxidant and detoxification metabolisms. In addition, as a natural protein-caged nanoparticle with an enzyme-mimic activity, ferritin is readily conjugated with biomolecules to construct nanobiosensors, thus holds promising potential for facile and biocompatible labeling for sensitive and robust bioassays in biomedical applications

    Phenanthrene causes ocular developmental toxicity in zebrafish embryos and the possible mechanisms involved

    National Natural Science Foundation of China [21177103]; Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities [2012121045]Recent studies show that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) may be a candidate cause of developmental defects of the retina, but the mechanism is still unclear. We evaluated the mechanism(s) underlying PAH-induced retinal development defects due to exposure to environmental concentrations of Phenanthrene (Phe) in zebrafish. We found that exposure to environmental concentrations of Phe caused obvious morphological changes, developmental retardation, apoptosis, and reduction of cell proliferation in the retina. Our results indicated that Phe could cause visual system developmental defects. Phe exposure up-regulated aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (Mtif) expression, and down-regulated zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (Zeb1) and paired box 6 (Pax6). Moreover, we demonstrated that AhR was a repressor of Zeb1. We propose that Phe's ocular toxicity is mediated by up-regulating AhR, which then down-regulates Zeb1, in turn inducing Mitf expression while inhibiting Pax6 expression. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V.
