The Project Hiding Underneath - Our Oppression, Identity and Gender â aims to explore the themes of awakening society to respect gender and identity issues. Through the interviews, compositions, story/ poem, paintings and visual, based on self-therapy, rediscover who I am, and awaken from a part of my life spent hiding and covering my gender identity as a result of gender-related physical and mental abuse. THREE ESSAYS ON FERTILITY BEHAVIOR AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
This dissertation contains three distinct papers on fertility behavior and domestic violence. Chapter one examines the effectiveness of the policy on fertility, proportion of male children, and female infant mortality. We utilize data from the fourth round of the National Family Health Survey (2015-2016) and use propensity score matching models to examine whether the policy influences household fertility behavior. First, fertility behavior of women residing in the policy states who married before the mandate are compared to those who married after the mandate implementation. Second, fertility behavior of women residing in the policy states are compared to those living in non-policy states. While the policy is found to lower the number of children in a household, there is no significant change in the proportion of male children in a household or in female infant mortality. However, pre-policy absence of a male child is positively and statistically significantly associated with excess fertility.Chapter two examines inconsistencies between an individualâs expectations regarding an ideal number of children and their current desire for children. The results show that societal influence does affect an individualâs fertility decision-making process and that knowledge of modern contraceptive methods has a significant impact on both spousesâ inconsistency between ideal and current desire for children. Inconsistency is significantly associated with number of children and proportion of male children in family. However, causal pathways between inconsistency and fertility outcomes may not be established using cross-sectional data and when implementing OLS estimation.Chapter three studies the causal effect of acceptance of domestic violence on actual physical and sexual abuse incidence. Both spousesâ attitudes toward the issue are analyzed. Results indicate that both husband and wifeâs attitudes toward the issue are positively and significantly associated with domestic violence incidence. However, results from the IV estimation indicates only wifeâs attitude have positive causal effect on husbandâs abuse behavior in rural area. I also find that there is a high rate of cross generational transmission of attitudes towards domestic violence from results of the first stage regressions of the IV probit model. The results are in general consistent across different income and caste and religion groups
NRPA: Neural Recommendation with Personalized Attention
Existing review-based recommendation methods usually use the same model to
learn the representations of all users/items from reviews posted by users
towards items. However, different users have different preference and different
items have different characteristics. Thus, the same word or similar reviews
may have different informativeness for different users and items. In this paper
we propose a neural recommendation approach with personalized attention to
learn personalized representations of users and items from reviews. We use a
review encoder to learn representations of reviews from words, and a user/item
encoder to learn representations of users or items from reviews. We propose a
personalized attention model, and apply it to both review and user/item
encoders to select different important words and reviews for different
users/items. Experiments on five datasets validate our approach can effectively

Beyond Intra-modality: A Survey of Heterogeneous Person Re-identification
An efficient and effective person re-identification (ReID) system relieves
the users from painful and boring video watching and accelerates the process of
video analysis. Recently, with the explosive demands of practical applications,
a lot of research efforts have been dedicated to heterogeneous person
re-identification (Hetero-ReID). In this paper, we provide a comprehensive
review of state-of-the-art Hetero-ReID methods that address the challenge of
inter-modality discrepancies. According to the application scenario, we
classify the methods into four categories -- low-resolution, infrared, sketch,
and text. We begin with an introduction of ReID, and make a comparison between
Homogeneous ReID (Homo-ReID) and Hetero-ReID tasks. Then, we describe and
compare existing datasets for performing evaluations, and survey the models
that have been widely employed in Hetero-ReID. We also summarize and compare
the representative approaches from two perspectives, i.e., the application
scenario and the learning pipeline. We conclude by a discussion of some future

Different Regular Black Holes: Geodesic Structures of Test Particles
This paper investigates the metric of previously proposed regular black
holes, calculates their effective potentials, and plots the curves of the
effective potentials. By determining the conserved quantities, the dynamical
equations for particles and photons near the black hole are derived. The
analysis encompasses timelike and null geodesics in different spacetimes,
including bound geodesics, unstable circular geodesics, stable circular
geodesics, and escape geodesics. The findings are presented through figures and
tables. Furthermore, the bound geodesics of the four regular black hole
spacetimes are analyzed, examining the average distance of particle orbits from
the center of the event horizon, the precession behavior of the perihelion, and
the probability of particles appearing inside the outer event horizon during
motion. Based on these analyses, a general formula is proposed, which yields
the existing metrics when specific parameter values are chosen. The impact of
parameter variations on the effective potential and geodesics is then computed

Effects of Phi and -meson on properties of hyperon stars including resonance
In this work, we study the properties of neutron stars using the linear
Relativistic Mean-Field (RMF) theory and consider multiple degrees of freedom
inside neutron stars, including hyperons and resonances. We
investigate different coupling parameters between
resonances and nucleons and compare the differences between neutron stars with
and without strange mesons and . These effects include
particle number distributions, equations of state (EOS), mass-radius relations,
and tidal deformabilities. To overcome the "hyperon puzzle," we employ the
scheme to obtain neutron stars with masses up to . We
find that strange mesons appear at around 3 and reduce the critical
density of baryons in the high-density region. With increasing coupling
parameter , the resonances suppress hyperons,
leading to a shift of the critical density towards lower values. The early
appearance of resonances may play a crucial role in the stability of
neutron stars. Strange mesons soften the EOS slightly, while
resonances predominantly soften the EOS in the low-density region. By
calculating tidal deformabilities and comparing with astronomical observation
GW170817, we find that the inclusion of resonances decreases the
radius of neutron stars.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figure
Occurrence and Control of Soybean Aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura
The soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura, is one of the most important pests of soybean. The A. glycines outbreak in 1998 followed another aphid outbreak after 1989, which caused enormous economic losses. The aphid infested areas exceeded 200 thousand mu, and the soybean yields decreased by 20%. Among aphid infested areas, 78 thousand mu were severely infested with a yield loss of 46%.
