    On the duality relation for correlation functions of the Potts model

    We prove a recent conjecture on the duality relation for correlation functions of the Potts model for boundary spins of a planar lattice. Specifically, we deduce the explicit expression for the duality of the n-site correlation functions, and establish sum rule identities in the form of the M\"obius inversion of a partially ordered set. The strategy of the proof is by first formulating the problem for the more general chiral Potts model.     Asteroseismology of the δ\delta Scuti star HD 50844

    Aims. We aim to probe the internal structure and investigate more detailed information of the δ\delta Scuti star HD 50844 with asteroseismology. Methods. We analyse the observed frequencies of the δ\delta Scuti star HD 50844 obtained by Balona (2014), and search for possible multiplets based on the rotational splitting law of g-mode. We tried to disentangle the frequency spectra of HD 50844 by means of the rotational splitting only. We then compare them with theoretical pulsation modes, which correspond to stellar evolutionary models with various sets of initial metallicity and stellar mass, to find the best-fitting model. Results. There are three multiplets including two complete triplets and one incomplete quintuplet, in which mode identifications for spherical harmonic degree ll and azimuthal number mm are unique. The corresponding rotational period of HD 50844 is found to be 2.440.08+0.13^{+0.13}_{-0.08} days. The physical parameters of HD 50844 are well limited in a small region by three modes identified as nonradial ones (f11f_{11}, f22f_{22}, and f29f_{29}) and by the fundamental radial mode (f4f_{4}). Our results show that the three nonradial modes (f11f_{11}, f22f_{22}, and f29f_{29}) are all mixed modes, which mainly represent the property of the helium core. The fundamental radial mode (f4f_{4}) mainly represents the property of the stellar envelope. In order to fit these four pulsation modes, both the helium core and the stellar envelope must be matched to the actual structure of HD 50844. Finally, the mass of the helium core of HD 50844 is estimated to be 0.173 ±\pm 0.004 MM_{\odot} for the first time. The physical parameters of HD 50844 are determined to be M=M= 1.81 ±\pm 0.01 MM_{\odot}, Z=Z= 0.008 ±\pm 0.001. Teff=T_{\rm eff}= 7508 ±\pm 125 K, logg=g= 3.658 ±\pm 0.004, R=R= 3.300 ±\pm 0.023 RR_{\odot}, L=L= 30.98 ±\pm 2.39 LL_{\odot}.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 6 tables, accepted for publication in A&

    Internal Energy of the Potts model on the Triangular Lattice with Two- and Three-body Interactions

    We calculate the internal energy of the Potts model on the triangular lattice with two- and three-body interactions at the transition point satisfying certain conditions for coupling constants. The method is a duality transformation. Therefore we have to make assumptions on uniqueness of the transition point and that the transition is of second order. These assumptions have been verified to hold by numerical simulations for q=2, 3 and 4, and our results for the internal energy are expected to be exact in these cases.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

    Origin of superconductivity in nominally "undoped" T'-La2x_{2-x}Yx_{x}CuO4_{4} films

    We have systematically studied the transport properties of the La2x_{2-x}Yx_{x}CuO4_{4}(LYCO) films of T'-phase (0.05x0.300.05\leq x \leq 0.30). In this nominally "undoped" system, superconductivity was acquired in certain Y doping range (0.10x0.200.10\leq x \leq 0.20). Measurements of resistivity, Hall coefficients in normal states and resistive critical field (Hc2ρH^\rho_{c2})in superconducting states of the T'-LYCO films show the similar behavior as the known Ce-doped n-type cuprate superconductors, indicating the intrinsic electron-doping nature. The charge carriers are induced by oxygen deficiency. Non-superconducting Y-doped Pr- or Nd-based T'-phase cuprate films were also investigated for comparison, suggesting the crucial role of the radii of A-site cations in the origin of superconductivity in the nominally "undoped" cuptates. Based on a reasonable scenario in the microscopic reduction process, we put forward a self-consistent interpretation of these experimental observations.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figure

    Lifetime Difference and Endpoint effect in the Inclusive Bottom Hadron Decays

    The lifetime differences of bottom hadrons are known to be properly explained within the framework of heavy quark effective field theory(HQEFT) of QCD via the inverse expansion of the dressed heavy quark mass. In general, the spectrum around the endpoint region is not well behaved due to the invalidity of 1/mQ1/m_Q expansion near the endpoint. The curve fitting method is adopted to treat the endpoint behavior. It turns out that the endpoint effects are truly small and the explanation on the lifetime differences in the HQEFT of QCD is then well justified. The inclusion of the endpoint effects makes the prediction on the lifetime differences and the extraction on the CKM matrix element Vcb|V_{cb}| more reliable.Comment: 11 pages, Revtex, 10 figures, 6 tables, published versio
