Effects on Summer Monsoon and Rainfall Change Over China Due to Eurasian Snow Cover and Ocean Thermal Conditions
Embryogenesis and plant regeneration from unpollinated ovaries of Amorphophallus konjac
The system of somatic embryogenesis of Amorphophallus konjac had been built through unpollinated ovaries. The embryogenic calli were induced on Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with 9.0 μM 6- benzylaminopurine (BA), 0.4 μM 2,4dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (D), 1.0 μM naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), and the induction rate was 34.0%. The differentiation rate was 35.5% on the medium of MS basal medium supplemented with 6.7 μM 6-BA and 2.2 μM NAA. The obtained plantlets were transferred into rooting medium which was 1/2MS supplementing with 2.7 μM NAA, and the rooting rate was above 95%. All of the media were added 3% (w/v) sucrose and 0.3% (w/v) phytagel, the experimental materials for each step were cultured at 25 ± 2°C with a photoperiod of 12 h and light intensity of 50 μmol m-2 s-1.Keywords: Amorphophallus konjac, unpollinated ovary, embryogenic calli, plant regeneratio

Direct and Relative Effects of the Import Tariff: Estimation Using the Chinese Industrial Level Data
The importing country usually imposes heterogeneous import tariff rates based on the national origins of the products. Reducing the tariff rates on the products from one origin country not only increases the imports from this country, but also decreases the imports from the other trade partners of the importing country. (Direct and relative effects of the import tariff) This paper constructs a variation of the conventional gravity model to analyze the direct and relative effects of the import tariff on international trade flows at the industrial level. Based on our theoretical framework, we compute a new indicator to measure the relative effect and estimate both effects using the Chinese industrial level data. Our empirical findings are consistent with our theoretical predictions: (i) if the tariff rates are reduced towards one origin country, the importing country will import more from this country but reduce the imports from the other origins; (ii) the relative effect is more effective at the industry or country where the importing penetration ratio is relatively high; and (iii) omission of the import penetration ratio will lead to the underestimation of the effects of the multilateral resistance terms on trade performances. Population Redistribution among Multiple Electronic States of Molecular Nitrogen Ions in Strong Laser Fields
We carry out a combined theoretical and experimental investigation on the
population distributions in the ground and excited states of tunnel ionized N2
molecules at various driver wavelengths in the near- and mid-infrared range.
Our results reveal that efficient couplings (i.e., population exchanges)
between the ground state and the excited states occur in strong laser fields.
The couplings result in the population inversion between the ground and the
excited states at the wavelengths near 800 nm, which is verified by our
experiment by observing the amplification of a seed at ~391 nm. The result
provides insight into the mechanism of free-space nitrogen ion lasers generated
in remote air with strong femtosecond laser pulses.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figure
