    Scalar Boundary Conditions in Hyperscaling Violating Geometry

    We study the possible boundary conditions of scalar field modes in a hyperscaling violation(HV) geometry with Lifshitz dynamical exponent z(z1)z (z\geqslant1) and hyperscaling violation exponent θ(θ0)\theta (\theta\neq0). For the case with θ>0\theta>0, we show that in the parameter range with 1z2, z+d12, z+d1<θd11\leq z\leq 2,~-z+d-12,~-z+d-1<\theta\leq d-1, the boundary conditions have different types, including the Neumann, Dirichlet and Robin conditions, while in the range with θz+d1\theta\leq-z+d-1, only Dirichlet type condition can be set. In particular, we further confirm that the mass of the scalar field does not play any role in determining the possible boundary conditions for θ>0\theta>0, which has been addressed in Ref. \cite{1201.1905}. Meanwhile, we also do the parallel investigation in the case with θ<0\theta<0. We find that for m2<0m^2<0, three types of boundary conditions are available, but for m2>0m^2>0, only one type is available.Comment: 19 page

    Formation of Fermi surfaces and the appearance of liquid phases in holographic theories with hyperscaling violation

    We consider a holographic fermionic system in which the fermions are interacting with a U(1) gauge field in the presence of a dilaton field in a gravity bulk of a charged black hole with hyperscaling violation. Using both analytical and numerical methods, we investigate the properties of the infrared and ultaviolet Green's functions of the holographic fermionic system. Studying the spectral functions of the system, we find that as the hyperscaling violation exponent is varied, the fermionic system possesses Fermi, non-Fermi, marginal-Fermi and log-oscillating liquid phases. Various liquid phases of the fermionic system with hyperscaling violation are also generated with the variation of the fermionic mass. We also explore the properties of the flat band and the Fermi surface of the non-relativistic fermionic fixed point dual to the hyperscaling violation gravity.Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures; v2: minor clarifications, section VI added, references added; accepted for publication in JHE

    Authenticity Through Cooperation of the Host and the Guests in a Chinese TV Talk Show

    TV talk shows have always been the focus of attention in mass media studies from the perspective of discourse analysis. Many studies are centered on how the hosts and guests achieve their respective authenticity. What remains largely unexplored is how the hosts and guests cooperate to construct authenticity for the talk show. By focusing on the cooperative nature of the relationship between the hosts and the guests in the realization of this authenticity intended by the talk show Behind The Headlines With Wen Tao, this paper explores the content and form to demonstrate how the talk show successfully provides news information and entertains the audience in a genuine sense through cooperation strategies. Key words: talk show, authenticity, cooperation Résumé: Le talk show est depuis longtemps le foyer d’attention dans l’étude des mass médias dans la perspective de l’analyse du discours. Beaucoup des recherches sont centrées sur comment les animateurs et les invités accomplissent leur authenticité respective. Ce qui reste largement exploré, c’est comment les animateurs et les invités coopèrent pour construire l’authenticité du programme. En concentrant sur la nature coopérative de la relation entre les animateurs et les invités dans la réalisation de cette authenticité attendue par le programme de talk show Derrière le gros titre avec Wen Tao, le présent article explore le contenu et la forme afin de démontrer comment le talk show offre avec succès de nouvelles informations et entretient l’audience avec des stratégies de coopération.     Fermionic phase transition induced by the effective impurity in holography

    We investigate the holographic fermionic phase transition induced by the effective impurity in holography, which is introduced by massless scalar fields in Einstein-Maxwell-massless scalar gravity. We obtain a phase diagram in (α,T)(\alpha, T) plane separating the Fermi liquid phase and the non-Fermi liquid phase.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figure

    A Note on Symplectic, Multisymplectic Scheme in Finite Element Method

    We find that with uniform mesh, the numerical schemes derived from finite element method can keep a preserved symplectic structure in one-dimensional case and a preserved multisymplectic structure in two-dimentional case in certain discrete version respectively. These results are in fact the intrinsic reason that the numerical experiments indicate that such finite element algorithms are accurate in practice.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
