Age-specific seriousness of avian influenza A(H7N9) in the second-wave epidemic in China
Poster Presentations 2 - Diseases at the Interface of Humans, Wildlife and Other Animals: no. 23.049PURPOSE: In spring 2013, a novel avian influenza A(H7N9) emerged in China causing more than 130 human infections mostly in the eastern provinces. The hospital fatality risk of A(H7N9) were about 35% and caused severe illness especially in older patients. In winter 2013-14, a second wave of A(H7N9) began with higher burden in the southern provinces in China. We estimated the relative risk of serious illness of patients aged 65 or above in the second wave of A(H7N9) epidemic, accounting for potential age-specific differences in poultry exposure …published_or_final_versio
An Examination of Significant Factors Influencing College Student Employment Cognition
[EN] The increasingly severe employment problem of college students has become a public concern in China. The literature review suggested that college students’ employment cognition play a major role in this issue. To improve students’ employment cognition thus becomes important. The paper argued that the first step in the improvement of students’ employment cognition be knowing the key factors that might influence one’s employment cognition. Through literature review, this paper identified three key influential factors, i.e., professional training, academic satisfaction, and word-of-mouth. Empirical data were then collected to test their relationships with employment cognition. SEM analysis revealed that these factors were significantly and positively related to employment cognition. These findings provide Chinese educators and potential employers with insights on how to help college graduates broaden their job search scope and match their majors with ideal jobs. In a broad sense, these findings could significantly contribute to the wellbeing of the Chinese society.Ye, Q.; Wu, N.; Chen, S.; Qiu, Y.; Zhang, H.; Zhang, X. (2023). An efficient power plant model of electric vehicles for unit commitment of large scale wind farms
AbstractAn efficient power plant model of electric vehicles (E-EPP) considering the travelling comfort levels of EV users is developed to investigate the contribution of EVs on the unit commitment (UC) of large scale wind farms. Firstly, a generic EV battery model (GEBM) is established considering the uncertainties of battery parameters. Then, a Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method is implemented within the E-EPP to obtain the available response capacity of EV charging load over time. And a UC strategy using the E-EPP based on power flow tracing is developed. Finally, a modified IEEE 118-bus system integrated with wind farms is used to verify the effectiveness of the E-EPP for the UC of large scale wind farms
