Diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorders in Incarcerated and Non-incarcerated Adolescents: A Systematic Review

Adolescents with Developmental Language Disorders (DLD) often have academic difficulties, experience limited vocational opportunities, and are potentially more likely to be incarcerated. This review sought to determine how DLD is defined and evaluated in the current literature and if this differs in studies specifically concerning incarcerated adolescents. This review also aimed to discern if and how the current research literature considers comorbid disorders when studying these populations. The search for this review was conducted in ComDisDome and yielded 24 eligible articles. The results indicate that the current literature does not have a consistent way of defining or testing for DLD, and the majority of the articles reviewed did not consider co-existing conditions in their populations of study. More research with consistent assessment and diagnostic methods and thorough consideration of comorbidity is necessary to accurately determine the prevalence of DLD in incarcerated populations. An accurate estimate of the prevalence of DLD in these populations could allow for policy changes regarding the provision of services for incarcerated adolescents and early intervention for at-risk youth

A light source to be used with a vacuum spectrograph

A grazing incidence vacuum grating spectrograph for use in the vacuum ultraviolet was designed and partially constructed by Mr. L. H. Chapin, as a research project for a Master’s Degree. This instrument is designed to photograph the region of the spectrum from 100 Å to 1000 Å. As Boyce pointed out in his exhaustive review, there is much important observational work to be done in this region. The author of this paper has undertaken to develop a satisfactory source for the region from 100 Å to 1000 Å. Dry compliant seal for phosphoric acid fuel cell

A dry compliant overlapping seal for a phosphoric acid fuel cell preformed f non-compliant Teflon to make an anode seal frame that encircles an anode assembly, a cathode seal frame that encircles a cathode assembly and a compliant seal frame made of expanded Teflon, generally encircling a matrix assembly. Each frame has a thickness selected to accommodate various tolerances of the fuel cell elements and are either bonded to one of the other frames or to a bipolar or end plate. One of the non-compliant frames is wider than the other frames forming an overlap of the matrix over the wider seal frame, which cooperates with electrolyte permeating the matrix to form a wet seal within the fuel cell that prevents process gases from intermixing at the periphery of the fuel cell and a dry seal surrounding the cell to keep electrolyte from the periphery thereof. The frames may be made in one piece, in L-shaped portions or in strips and have an outer perimeter which registers with the outer perimeter of bipolar or end plates to form surfaces upon which flanges of pan shaped, gas manifolds can be sealed
