The new risk management: the good, the bad, and the ugly
At one time, risk management was limited to insurance and the avoidance of lawsuits and accidents. The new risk management also includes using tools developed for pricing financial options for the management of financial risks within the firm. Trading in financial markets based on these tools can insulate companies from the risk of changes in interest rates, input prices, or currency fluctuations. In this article Philip H. The ecology of the thirteen-lined ground squirrel (Citellus tridecemlineotus) has been under investigation since 1954 on the grounds of the University of Minnesota Forestry and Biological Station located in Itasca State Park, Minnesota. Over the 11-year period, data have been collected on individuals of this small, relatively isolated, population. Studies of population dynamics, movements, activity patterns, and weights have been stressed, chiefly during the three summer months of June, July, and August. A next-gen catalog provides an intuitive interface designed in accordance with current web standards. It incorporates features such as visually rich displays, virtual shelf browsing, a spell-check function, auto-completion options, and search-term suggestions, as well as social features that encourage patron participation, such as tagging, ranking, and reviews. The discovery products are a new type of software-an interface that layers on top of the library management system (LMS). It provides the capability to simultaneously search for material in the library's local collection, articles in subscription databases, and digital collections managed locally
Recovering Intrinsic Images from a Single Image
We present an algorithm that uses multiple cues to recover shading and reflectance intrinsic images from a single image. Using both color information and a classifier trained to recognize gray-scale patterns, each image derivative is classified as being caused by shading or a change in the surface's reflectance. Generalized Belief Propagation is then used to propagate information from areas where the correct classification is clear to areas where it is ambiguous. We also show results on real images
Strong and weak lensing united III: Measuring the mass distribution of the merging galaxy cluster 1E0657-56
The galaxy cluster 1E0657-56 (z = 0.296) is remarkably well-suited for
addressing outstanding issues in both galaxy evolution and fundamental physics.
We present a reconstruction of the mass distribution from both strong and weak
gravitational lensing data. Multi-color, high-resolution HST ACS images allow
detection of many more arc candidates than were previously known, especially
around the subcluster. Using the known redshift of one of the multiply imaged
systems, we determine the remaining source redshifts using the predictive power
of the strong lens model. Combining this information with shape measurements of
"weakly" lensed sources, we derive a high-resolution, absolutely-calibrated
mass map, using no assumptions regarding the physical properties of the
underlying cluster potential. This map provides the best available
quantification of the total mass of the central part of the cluster. We also

Lunar hand tools
Tools useful for operations and maintenance tasks on the lunar surface were determined and designed. Primary constraints are the lunar environment, the astronaut's space suit and the strength limits of the astronaut on the moon. A multipurpose rotary motion tool and a collapsible tool carrier were designed. For the rotary tool, a brushless motor and controls were specified, a material for the housing was chosen, bearings and lubrication were recommended and a planetary reduction gear attachment was designed. The tool carrier was designed primarily for ease of access to the tools and fasteners. A material was selected and structural analysis was performed on the carrier. Recommendations were made about the limitations of human performance and about possible attachments to the torque driver
