    n-Extended Lorentzian Kac-Moody algebras

    Get PDF
We investigate a class of Kac–Moody algebras previously not considered. We refer to them as n-extended Lorentzian Kac–Moody algebras defined by their Dynkin diagrams through the connection of an An Dynkin diagram to the node corresponding to the affine root. The cases n=1 and n=2 correspond to the well-studied over- and very-extended Kac–Moody algebras, respectively, of which the particular examples of E10 and E11 play a prominent role in string and M-theory. We construct closed generic expressions for their associated roots, fundamental weights and Weyl vectors. We use these quantities to calculate specific constants from which the nodes can be determined that when deleted decompose the n-extended Lorentzian Kac–Moody algebras into simple Lie algebras and Lorentzian Kac–Moody algebra. The signature of these constants also serves to establish whether the algebras possess SO(1, 2) and/or SO(3)-principal subalgebras

    FollowMe: A Bigraphical Approach

In this paper we illustrate the use of modelling techniques using bigraphs to specify and refine elementary aspects of the FollowMe framework. This framework provides the seamless migration of bi-directional user interfaces for users as they navigate between zones within an intelligent environment

Towards FollowMe User Profiles for Macro Intelligent Environments

    Get PDF
We envision an Ambient Intelligent Environment as an environment with technology embedded within the framework of that environment to help enhance an users experience in that environment. Existing implementations , while working effectively, are themselves an expensive and time consuming investment. Applying the same expertise to an environment on a monolithic scale is very inefficient, and thus, will require a different approach. In this paper, we present this problem, propose theoretical solutions that would solve this problem, with the guise of experimentally verifying and comparing these approaches, as well as a formal method to model the entire scenario

The Female Sport Experience: History, Development, and Psychological Implications

    Get PDF
This paper reviews the literature related to women in athletics with a focus on the psychological perspective. The paper is divided into three major parts. Chapter I traces the historical antecedents with specific emphasis on the development of sports psychology and women\u27s gradual integration into amateur and professional athletics. Chapter II reviews literature devoted to the psychosocial issues related to the female athlete. These issues include personality traits and patterns, psychosocial problems associated with women entering and maintaining status in athletics, stereotypes, homophobia, socialization issues and the incidence and etiology of eating disorders among female athletes. Chapter III addresses the global issues related to the modern female athlete with a specific focus on professionalism and social acceptance. Recommendations for future research are included which focus on the psychosocial view of the female athlete and the socialization process that provides the backdrop and milieu of contemporary women athletes
