The preparation of P25 particles into nano-functional material films with a high specific surface area has always been a bottleneck limiting its large-scale application. In this paper, a one-step method of preparing TiO2 nanocomposites by doping carbon nanotube (CNT) and carbon quantum dots (CQD) with tetrabutyltitanate and P25 TiO2 under ultrasonic radiation is proposed to synthesize a novel antifouling material, which both eliminates the bacterium of Escherichia coli and shows good photoelectric properties, indicating a great value for the industrial promotion of TiO2/CNT. This mesoporous composite exhibits a high specific surface area of 78.07 M2/g (BET) and a tested pore width range within 10–120 nm. The surface morphology of this composite is characterized by TEM and the microstructure is characterized through XRD. This preparation method can fabricate P25 particles into a nano-functional material film with a high specific surface area at a very low cost.Peer reviewe

Background: Relapse and metastasis of patients with Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the major obstacle to the long-term life of patients. Its mechanisms remain defined. Methods: A total of 48 CRC patients were enrolled and 68 samples were obtained from the peripheral blood of patients before or after treatments in this study. Twenty non-cancer patients were also detected as a negative control. Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs), including Epithelial CTCs (eCTCs), Mesenchymal (MCTCs), and epithelial/mesenchymal mixed phenotypes (mixed CTCs), were identified by CanPatrolTM CTC enrichment and RNA in situ hybridization. The relationship between CTCs number and Progression-Free Survival (PFS) or Overall Survival (OS) was evaluated. Results: Thirty-four of 48 patients (70.8%) were found to have positive CTCs. Total CTCs and MCTCs in the post-treatment had a significant correlation PFS and OS. When total CTCs or MCTCs in 5 mL blood of patients were more than 6 CTCs or 5 MCTCs, PFS of the patients was significantly shorter (p < 0.05) than that in patients with less than 6 CTCs or 5 MCTCs. The patients with > 5 CTCs count changes were found to exhibit poor PFS and OS rates (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Total CTCs and MCTCs number detection in patients with colorectal cancer was very useful biomarker for predicting the prognosis of patients. Higher CTCs or MCTCs had poorer PFS and OS rates

Case Report: A long-term survival case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with left ventricular infiltration and spinal cord compression

BackgroundDiffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and may occur with lymph node and/or extranodal involvement. However, DLBCL with intracardiac mass is exceedingly rare. In the reported literature, the intracardiac infiltration of DLBCL mostly involves the right ventricle. Lymphoma that invades the heart has an aggressive nature, with symptoms that are easily ignored initially and can lead to multiple complications in severe cases, resulting in a poor prognosis. Early screening and diagnosis may significantly improve the survival rate. Early diagnosis may significantly improve outcomes.Case summaryWe presented a 68-year-old woman with back pain. PET/CT suggested increased FDG metabolism in the left ventricle, right adrenal gland, right erector spinae intramuscularis, multiple bones and multiple lymph nodes. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound showed a left ventricular apical mass with ventricular septum thickening. Cardiac MRI suggested a 1.6*1.1*2.1 cm mass in the apical-central portion of the left ventricle. Biopsy of the right neck mass confirmed the pathologic diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. However, before the pathologic diagnosis was confirmed, the patient was paralyzed due to spinal cord compression caused by the progression of bone metastases. Subsequently, pathology confirmed the diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) was treated immediately as first-line therapy. In addition, glucocorticoids and mannitol dehydration were administered to relieve the symptoms of spinal cord compression. After 8 cycles of R-CHOP, the tumor at all sites had almost complete regression. The patient was able to walk normally and had no tumor-related symptoms.ConclusionsWe present a case of DLBCL with a very high tumor load that involved multiple organs, including the left ventricle, but exhibited no cardiac-related symptoms. The combination of various imaging modalities is valuable for the diagnosis of cardiac infiltration. The mass in the left ventricle almost completely regressed after R-CHOP treatment, and no recurrence has occurred in the 5 years of follow-up so far

Critical examinations of specimens, with literature reviews, have shown that Rubus davidianus is conspecific with R. lambertianus. Therefore, we treat R. davidianus as a new synonym within Rubus. We propose a new name, Rubus loirensis Ti R. Huang nom. nov. to replace the later homonym of R. pycnanthus Genev. Additionally, lectotypification of three names, R. davidianus Kuntze, R. malifolius Focke and R. viburnifolius Franch., are designated here after examination of previous works

Background and purpose: Both domestic and foreign guidelines recommend the use of radionuclide as sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy (SLNB) tracer, however this technique has not been popularized in China for a variety of reasons. Mitoxantrone hydrochloride injection for tracing (MHI), a new strategy to identify lymph nodes, has not been tested for axillary node staging in breast cancer. This multicenter, self-controlled, non-inferiority trial aimed to evaluate the differences between MHI and radionuclide in SLNB tracing. Methods: The trial was conducted across 7 hospitals from December 2019 to December 2020. Patients with early-stage breast cancer received MHI and radionuclide (technetium 99 labeled sulfur colloid, 99mTc-Sc) as SLN tracers during the surgery. The number of SLNs detected and sentinel node detection rates of MHI and radionuclide were counted to evaluate differences in the tracing effects between the two tracers. Results: SLN detection rates of MHI and radionuclide were 96.9% (370/382) and 97.4% (372/382), respectively, with no significant difference (P>0.05). SLNs were co-detected by both tracers in 362 (94.7%) patients; 16 (4.1%) had adverse events possibly related to the trial drugs. Conclusion: In this study, it was found that the lymphatic tracing ability of MHI was not inferior to that of radionuclide. Meanwhile, the use of MHI does not require special instrument/equipment assistance

In the remote areas of northern China without central heating and gas supply, for users intending to replace coal-boilers, the air-source heat pump system is always questionable due to the contradiction between its heating capacity and user’s heating demand, especially in very cold areas, whose COP and economy is very poor. The accumulator with phase change materials would be a promising one to solve this problem. With the help of TRNSYS software, a heating system coupled with air-source heat pump, accumulator, and water-source heat pump and its operation mode are provided and analyzed based on the heat source renovation demand of a middle school in Tianshui City suburb which has 5560 m2 area to be heated. The average COP simulated during the heating period of the coupled heating system is 2.23. Based on the simulation model and results, the heat source renovation of the middle school in Tianshui City suburb was carried out, its tested and simulated COP over the day was 2 and 2.05, respectively, which also reveals the validity of the numerical method for this problem

Effect of Diet and Exercise-induced Weight Reduction on Complement Regulatory Proteins CD55 and CD59 Levels in Overweight Chinese Adolescents

Recent studies have suggested that complement plays an important role in adipose tissue homeostasis and insulin resistance, but the involvement of complement regulatory (CReg) proteins in obesity has not been elucidated. In this study, we examined whether weight reduction induced changes in the levels of the CReg proteins CD55 (decay accelerating factor) and CD59 (membrane attack complex inhibitory factor) on blood cells, before and after a 4-week diet and physical exercise intervention. Fourteen overweight Chinese adolescents with a body mass index > 25 kg·(m2)−1 were enrolled, 12 of whom completed the study. CD55 and CD59 levels on cell surfaces were assessed by flow cytometry. It was observed that anthropometric parameters, serum lipid levels, and glycemic-related factors improved significantly post-intervention. On all cells, the CD59 level was significantly increased post-intervention, while the CD55 level on lymphocytes and neutrophils was significantly decreased post-intervention. The pre-intervention CD55 level on lymphocytes positively correlated with the pre-intervention percent body fat (r = 0.737, p < 0.01). This correlation remained significant (r = 0.737, p < 0.01) post-intervention. In conclusion, these observations show that a 4-week diet and exercise program in overweight Chinese adolescents improved physical characteristics, anthropometric parameters, serum lipid levels, and glycemic-related factors. The CD55 level on lymphocytes correlates with percent body fat. Therefore, adipose-derived factors may constitute possible targets for ameliorating overweight and obesity and its adverse metabolic consequences
