Purpose: To investigate the effect of combination of home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) and nifedipine on blood pressure compliance and quality of life in patients with essential hypertension. Methods: One hundred and twenty essential hypertension patients admitted to Jiaozuo Coal Industry (Group) Co. Ltd Central Hospital from February 2020 to February 2021 were retrospectively studied. They were equally divided into study group (SG) and control group (COG) according to the order of admission. All patients were treated with nifedipine. Blood pressure was regularly measured in COG patients in the consulting room, while for SG patients, blood pressure was measured at home. Treatment compliance, blood pressure-related indices and quality of life of the two groups were determined. Results: Treatment compliance values of patients in SG at 6 weeks (T2) and 12 weeks (T3) were significantly better than the corresponding values for patients in COG (p < 0.05). The related indices of blood pressure at T2 and T3 were significantly better in SG than in COG (p < 0.05), with higher blood pressure compliance at T2 and T3 in SG (60 and 70 %, respectively) than in COG (p < 0.05). The quality-of-life scores at T3 in SG were significantly higher than those in COG (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The combined use of HBPM and nifedipine improves treatment compliance, enhances the levels of related indices of blood pressure, increases blood pressure compliance, and quality of life of patients with essential hypertension. Therefore, the combined therapy merits further investigation on a larger scale

Abdominal Multiple Splenosis Mimicking Liver and Colon Tumors: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Splenosis is not an uncommon disease. However, it is often misdiagnosed as malignant tumors, and then the patients underwent unnecessary operations. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to diagnose it prior to operation. We report a rare case of a 49-year-old female patient with liver and colon splenosis, misdiagnosed as liver and colon tumors, and summarize experience how to diagnose it preoperatively according to literatures. We come to conclusion that in patients who ever underwent splenectomy especially owning to trauma, and were found mass in abdomen, clinicians must consider the existence of splenosis, and take some measures, such as scintigraphy with (99m) Tc labelled heat-denatured erythrocyte rather than biopsy, to diagnose it correctly to prevent unnecessary operations

Hem-o-lok Clip Found in Common Bile Duct after Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and Common Bile Duct Exploration: A Clinical Analysis Of 8 Cases

Currently laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) has become the standard surgical procedure for cholecystolithiasis and choledocholithiasis. During the operation cystic duct and vessels are usually controlled by Hem-o-lok clips. However, recently we found clips dropping into CBD in 8 patients during fiberoptic choledochoscope 2-3 months after operation. Therefore, there is risk that clip can migrate during postoperative period, which probably lead to hemorrhage and bile leakage after LC if this occurs within postoperative few days, or even cause recurrent stone in CBD. So, using of Hem-o-lok clips may be not a safe method to control vessels and cystic duct during LC. To our knowledge, this condition has not previously been reported. In our view, other more effective and safe method ligating cystic duct and gallbladder vessels, such as effective and convenient thread knotting method, should be investigated

Asymptotic behavior for multi-scale SDEs with monotonicity coefficients driven by L\'evy processes

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior for multi-scale stochastic differential equations driven by L\'evy processes. The optimal strong convergence order 1/2 is obtained by studying the regularity estimates for the solution of Poisson equation with polynomial growth coefficients, and the optimal weak convergence order 1 is got by using the technique of Kolmogorov equation. The main contribution is that the obtained results can be applied to a class of multi-scale stochastic differential equations with monotonicity coefficients, as well as the driven processes can be the general L\'evy processes, which seems new in the existing literature.Comment: 39 pages. Exchange Rate Forecasting Using Entropy Optimized Multivariate Wavelet Denoising Model

Exchange rate is one of the key variables in the international economics and international trade. Its movement constitutes one of the most important dynamic systems, characterized by nonlinear behaviors. It becomes more volatile and sensitive to increasingly diversified influencing factors with higher level of deregulation and global integration worldwide. Facing the increasingly diversified and more integrated market environment, the forecasting model in the exchange markets needs to address the individual and interdependent heterogeneity. In this paper, we propose the heterogeneous market hypothesis- (HMH-) based exchange rate modeling methodology to model the micromarket structure. Then we further propose the entropy optimized wavelet-based forecasting algorithm under the proposed methodology to forecast the exchange rate movement. The multivariate wavelet denoising algorithm is used to separate and extract the underlying data components with distinct features, which are modeled with multivariate time series models of different specifications and parameters. The maximum entropy is introduced to select the best basis and model parameters to construct the most effective forecasting algorithm. Empirical studies in both Chinese and European markets have been conducted to confirm the significant performance improvement when the proposed model is tested against the benchmark models

Objective: Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), one of the rate-limiting enzymes in the metabolism of arachidonic acid which is reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of many human tumors. As well, Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is well known to be involved in the infiltration and metastasis of many kinds of cancers. The aim of this study was to further elucidate the clinicopathologic significance of the immunohistochemical expressions of COX-2 and VEGF in thyroid carcinoma

A Novel Model of the Ideal Point Method Coupled with Objective and Subjective Weighting Method for Evaluation of Surrounding Rock Stability

The classification of surrounding rock stability is the critical problem in tunneling engineering. In order to decrease engineering disasters, the surrounding rock stability should be accurately evaluated. The ideal point method is applied to the classification of surrounding rock stability. Considering the complexity of surrounding rock classification, some factors such as rock uniaxial compressive strengthen, integrality coefficient of rock mass, the angle between tunnel axis and the main joint, joints condition, and seepage measurement of groundwater are selected as evaluation indices. The weight coefficients of these evaluation indices are determined by the objective and subjective weighting method, consisting with the delphi method and the information entropy theory. The objective and subjective weighting method is exact and reliable to determine the weights of evaluation indices, considering not only the expert’s experiences, but also objectivity of the field test data. A new composite model is established for evaluating the surrounding rock stability based on the ideal point method and the objective and subjective weighting method. The present model is applied to Beigu mountain tunnel in Jiangsu province, China. The result is in good agreement with practical situation of surrounding rock, which proves that the ideal point method used to classify the surrounding rock in tunnels is reasonable and effective. The present model is simple and has very strong operability, which possesses a good prospect of engineering application
