    Get PDF
In this study, kaoline is incorporated to prepare CoAl2O4/kaoline hybrid pigments via traditional solid-state reaction, and the introduction of kaoline decreases the preparation temperature for formation of spinel CoAl2O4, and reduces the production cost of cobalt blue as well. More importantly, kaoline may participate in the crystallization of spinel CoAl2O4 during calcining process, and the hybrid pigments prepared using 8.1% Co3O4 and 81.5% kaoline features bright blue and good chemical resistance. Due to the synergistic effect between the sheet-like kaoline and the loaded CoAl2O4, the as-prepared CoAl2O4/kaoline hybrid pigments can be incorporated into epoxy paint system to obtain the high-performance blue anticorrosion coating, especially for acetic acid-salt fog corrosion

In order to achieve the energy recovery of the coolant heat for internal combustion engine (ICE) using the thermoelectric generation (TEG) technology, one test bed for studying the influence of temperature on the characters of thermoelectric generators was established and the relationship between the temperature and characters of thermoelectric generator was researched based on it. The results showed that the cooling effect improved with the increase of fan speed which the fan was installed in the vertical direction of the radiator, but the cooling effect had a limit speed value. And it also indicated that the forced air cooling was better than the natural convection cooling method which can effectively reduce the temperature of the cold end while it has little effect on the hot end temperature. Moreover, the Seebeck coefficient was reduced with the increase of temperature difference between the two ends of thermoelectric generator and the Seebeck coefficient was also declined with one end temperature rise when the other end temperature was constant

Transition-metal phosphides prepared from temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) are generally known to be unstable and prone to surface structure decomposition upon exposure to air. In this work, air-stable molybdenum phosphide (MoP) was prepared using TPR modified by sulfur. This catalyst was exposed to ambient atmosphere for up to 150 days and still maintained its surface and bulk structures as the fresh sample derived from in situ reduction. The metal phosphosulfide phase generated during TPR not only contributes to the solid structural properties but also exhibits superior catalytic activity in various hydrofining reactions compared to traditional MoP catalysts. Additionally, this preparation strategy was used to synthesize other sulfur-doped metal phosphides, such as CoP and Cu3P. Both of these catalysts exhibited excellent air-stability.</p

Correlation between Metabolite of Prostaglandin E2 and the incidence of colorectal adenomas

Colorectal cancer is a common malignancy, and the incidence and mortality rates continue to rise. An important factor in the emergence of inflammation-induced colorectal carcinogenesis is elevated cyclooxygenase-2. Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) over-production is frequently equated with cyclooxygenase-2 gene over-expression. PGE2 can be assessed by measuring the level of prostaglandin’s main metabolite, PGE-M, in urine. Colorectal adenoma is a precancerous lesion that can lead to colorectal cancer. We conducted research to evaluate the association between urinary levels of the PGE-M and the risk of colorectal adenomas. In a western Chinese population, we identified 152 cases of adenoma and 152 controls patients without polyps. Adenoma cases were categorized into control, low-risk and high-risk groups. There was no significant change in PGE-M levels, between the control group and the low-risk adenoma group. In the high-risk group, the PGE-M levels were 23% higher than the control group. When compared to people with the lowest urine PGE-M levels (first quartile), people with greater urinary PGE-M levels had a higher chance of developing high-risk colorectal adenomas, with an adjusted odds ratio (95% CI) of 1.65 (0.76-3.57) in the fourth quartile group, (p= 0.013). We conclude urinary PGE-M is associated with the risk of developing high-risk adenomas. Urinary PGE-M level may be used as a non-invasive indicator for estimating cancer risk

Down syndrome (DS), caused by trisomy of chromosome 21, is the most significant risk factor for early-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD); however, underlying mechanisms linking DS and AD remain unclear. Here, we show that triplication of homologous chromosome 21 genes aggravates neuroinflammation in combined murine DS-AD models. Overexpression of USP25, a deubiquitinating enzyme encoded by chromosome 21, results in microglial activation and induces synaptic and cognitive deficits, whereas genetic ablation of Usp25 reduces neuroinflammation and rescues synaptic and cognitive function in 5×FAD mice. Mechanistically, USP25 deficiency attenuates microglia-mediated proinflammatory cytokine overproduction and synapse elimination. Inhibition of USP25 reestablishes homeostatic microglial signatures and restores synaptic and cognitive function in 5×FAD mice. In summary, we demonstrate an unprecedented role for trisomy 21 and pathogenic effects associated with microgliosis as a result of the increased USP25 dosage, implicating USP25 as a therapeutic target for neuroinflammation in DS and AD.This work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (31871077, 81822014, and 81571176 to X.W.; 81701130 to Q.Z.), the National Key R&D Program of China (2016YFC1305900 to X.W.), the Natural Science Foundation of Fujian Province of China (2017J06021 to X.W.), the Fundamental Research Funds for the Chinese Central Universities (20720150061 to X.W.), and the BrightFocus Foundation (A2018214F to Yingjun Zhao). 该研究工作得到国家重点研发计划项目、国家自然科学基金、福建省自然科学基金、厦门大学校长基金的资助和支持

Formation and Coloring Mechanism of Typical Aluminosilicate Clay Minerals for CoAl2O4 Hybrid Pigment Preparation

    No full text
Different kinds of aluminosilicate minerals were employed to fabricate CoAl2O4 hybrid pigment for studying its formation and coloring mechanism. It revealed that the color of the obtained hybrid pigments was determined by the content of Al2O3 and lightness of clay minerals. The higher the Al2O3 content and the lightness of clay minerals, the better the color parameters of hybrid pigments. During the preparation of hybrid pigments, CoAl2O4 nanoparticles were confined to be loaded on the surface of the aluminosilicate minerals, which effectively prevented from the aggregation and the size increase of CoAl2O4 nanoparticles. What's more, aluminosilicate mineral might be an ideal natural aluminum source to compensate the aluminum loss due to the dissolution of Al(OH)3 at alkaline medium during precursor preparation, keeping an optimum molar ratio of Co2+/Al3+ for formation of spinel CoAl2O4 pigments in the process of high-temperature crystallization
