Formal Modeling and Verification of Services Managements for Pervasive Computing Environment

    Get PDF
International audienceVarious forms of pervasive computing environments are being deployed in an increasing number of areas including hospitals, homes and military settings. Entities in this environment provide rich functionalities (i.e. services). How to organize these heterogeneous and distributed entities to deliver user-defined services is challenging. Pantagruel is an approach to integrate a taxonomical description of a pervasive computing environment into a visual programming language. A taxonomy describes the relevant entities of a given pervasive computing area and serves as a parameter to a sensor-controller-actuator develop- ment paradigm. The orchestration of area-specific entities is supported by high-level constructs, customized with respect to taxonomical information. Pantagruel is also a language that describes and manages services. Further more, Pantagruel can be viewed as a high level service contract between the service designer and the program implementer. This paper presents a for- malization of Pantagruel, both its syntax and semantics. Four kinds of static properties are stated based on the formalization. Predicate abstraction based algorithms are designed to verify the properties

TORE: Token Reduction for Efficient Human Mesh Recovery with Transformer

In this paper, we introduce a set of effective TOken REduction (TORE) strategies for Transformer-based Human Mesh Recovery from monocular images. Current SOTA performance is achieved by Transformer-based structures. However, they suffer from high model complexity and computation cost caused by redundant tokens. We propose token reduction strategies based on two important aspects, i.e., the 3D geometry structure and 2D image feature, where we hierarchically recover the mesh geometry with priors from body structure and conduct token clustering to pass fewer but more discriminative image feature tokens to the Transformer. As a result, our method vastly reduces the number of tokens involved in high-complexity interactions in the Transformer, achieving competitive accuracy of shape recovery at a significantly reduced computational cost. We conduct extensive experiments across a wide range of benchmarks to validate the proposed method and further demonstrate the generalizability of our method on hand mesh recovery. Our code will be publicly available once the paper is published

Low dark current high gain InAs quantum dot avalanche photodiodes monolithically grown on Si

Avalanche photodiodes (APDs) on Si operating at optical communication wavelength band are crucial for the Si-based transceiver application. In this paper, we report the first O-band InAs quantum dot (QD) waveguide APDs monolithically grown on Si with a low dark current of 0.1 nA at unit gain and a responsivity of 0.234 A/W at 1.310 μm at unit gain (−5 V). In the linear gain mode, the APDs have a maximum gain of 198 and show a clear eye diagram up to 8 Gbit/s. These QD-based APDs enjoy the benefit of sharing the same epitaxial layers and processing flow as QD lasers, which could potentially facilitate the integration with laser sources on a Si platform

A Novel Two-Terminal Reliability Analysis for MANET

    Get PDF
Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a dynamic wireless communication network. Because of the dynamic and infrastructureless characteristics, MANET is vulnerable in reliability. This paper presents a novel reliability analysis for MANET. The node mobility effect and the node reliability based on a real MANET platform are modeled and analyzed. An effective Monte Carlo method for reliability analysis is proposed. A detailed evaluation is performed in terms of the experiment results

Formal Proof of a Machine Closed Theorem in Coq

    No full text
The paper presents a formal proof of a machine closed theorem of TLA+ in the theorem proving system Coq. A shallow embedding scheme is employed for the proof which is independent of concrete syntax. Fundamental concepts need to state that the machine closed theorems are addressed in the proof platform. A useful proof pattern of constructing a trace with desired properties is devised. A number of Coq reusable libraries are established

Travel before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic: Exploring factors in essential travel using empirical data

    No full text
The COVID-19 pandemic has a significant impact on daily life, leading to quarantines and essential travel restrictions worldwide in an effort to curb the virus\u27s spread. Despite the potential importance of essential travel, research on changes in travel patterns during the pandemic has been limited, and the concept of essential travel has not been fully explored. This paper aims to address this gap by using GPS data from taxis in Xi\u27an City between January and April 2020 to investigate differences in travel patterns across three periods pre, during, and post the pandemic. Spatial statistical models are used to examine the major supply and demand-oriented factors that affect spatial travel patterns in different periods, and essential and nonessential socioeconomic resources are defined based on types of services. Results indicate that the spatial distribution of travel demand was highly correlated with the location of socioeconomic resources and opportunities, regardless of the period. During the “Emergency Response” period, essential travel was found to be highly associated with facilities and businesses providing essential resources and opportunities, such as essential food provider, general hospital and daily grocery supplies. The findings suggest that local authorities may better identify essential travel destinations by referencing the empirical results, strengthening public transit connections to these locations, and ultimately promoting traffic fairness in the post-pandemic era

Multi-functional chitosan copolymer modified nanocrystals as oral andrographolide delivery systems for enhanced bioavailability and anti-inflammatory efficacy

Modifying nanocrystals with functional materials have been common strategy to enlarge the enhancing ability on oral absorption via nanocrystals; however, whether the functional materials have played their full enhancing ability in oral absorption is still unknown. In this study, we synthetized a novel chitosan-based copolymer (the copolymer of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), chitosan (CS) and D-α-Tocopherol polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate, SDS-CS-TPGS), and modified nanocrystals with this copolymer, aiming to enhance the oral absorption of polymer andrographolide (ADR). In real-time distribution study, we found the distribution of ADR, SDS, CS and TPGS varies in gastrointestinal tract, while the distribution of ADR and SDS-CS-TPGS was similar, revealing the SDS-CS-TPGS could able to participate in the absorption process of andrographolide timely. To explore the oral absorption enhancing ability of SDS-CS-TPGS, we prepared a series of nanocrystals modified with different materials and explored their pharmacokinetic performances on SD rats. The results showed the nanocrystals modified with SDS-CS-TPGS (S-C-TANs) exhibited the highest bioavailability, which could enhance the AUC0-∞ of ADR from 1.291 mg/L*h to 5.275 mg/L*h (enhanced for about 4.09-folds). The enhanced anti- inflammatory efficacy was also found on ICR mice by employing ear swelling rate, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 and pharmacodynamic index. These results indicated that modified with synthesized copolymer containing different functional stabilizers is an efficient strategy to enlarge the enhancing ability on oral absorption of nanocrystals.</p
